Fraud in the name of Ram Temple
As the highly anticipated consecration ceremony of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir approaches, a disturbing revelation surfaces—a scam exploiting devotees under the guise of temple donations. The issue surfaced when individuals received social media messages and phone calls urging donations for the construction of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Upon receiving such a call, one individual shared the number with VHP workers. Upon reaching out to the number, a VHP worker uncovered the fraudulent tactics employed by the scammers, highlighting the importance of swift action in exposing and addressing deceptive fundraising schemes.
Vinod Bansal took action to control the Ram Temple Fraud
Vinod Bansal from Vishwa Hindu Parishad takes to social media, sounding an alert against cybercriminals creating fake IDs in the name of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. He urges people to stay vigilant and avoid falling victim to these fraudulent schemes targeting the auspicious event. This underscores the importance of awareness amid attempts to exploit the devotees’ goodwill.
Addressing X (formerly known as Twitter), the VHP leader revealed the existence of a deceptive social media page titled “Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Chhetra Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.” This fraudulent page, complete with a QR code, urges users to financially support the construction of the Ram Temple. The VHP leader’s disclosure highlights an alarming attempt to mislead individuals into contributing funds under false pretenses, emphasizing the need for caution and heightened awareness regarding such deceptive online activities.

What’s in the FIR…
As per the FIR lodged by the VHP leader, a wrongdoer identified as Abhishek Kumar is soliciting contributions for Ayodhya temple development through a circulated QR code on social media. Upon scanning the code, the UPI redirects the user to a UPI ID under the name Manisha Nallabelly. This revelation sheds light on the deceptive tactics employed by the miscreant, emphasizing the urgency to remain vigilant and cautious in the face of fraudulent fundraising activities.
The complaint copy read, “Concerning the above subject, A miscreant by the name of Abhishek Kumar is seeking funds for Ayodhya Temple Development and using social media to spread such false information. He has posted the UPI QR codes in Facebook groups with the line “Ram mandir Ayodhya Chanda pradarshan Karen”. On Scanning the QR Code, UPI will direct the user to UPI ID “9040914736@Paytm” with the name Manisha Nallabelly.”
The leader also wrote, “Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has clarified many times that no private person or people are authorised to collect funds for the temple. At a time when the entire nation is rejoicing over the Ram temple inauguration, such preposterous activities should be nipped in the bud.”

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged devotees not to visit the temple on January 22, the consecration day. Instead, he encouraged them to light a diya at their homes, emphasizing the importance of participating in the event remotely for everyone’s safety.
He stated, “This is my request with folded hand, don’t decide to come to Ram Temple on January 22. First, allow the event to happen and then after January 23, you can come any time. Everyone wants to attend the event, but it is not possible to accommodate everyone owing to logistics and security reasons. You have waited for over 550 years. Wait for some more time.”
