HBO Max’s FRIENDS reunion promised to be a star-studded as the show itself. And keeping its promise, it featured a bunch of celebrity guest stars in the show. On NBC in 1994, FRIENDS premiered with a perfect pilot episode which was created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman. However, the show still managed an upward trajectory by earning impressive ratings from the outset and became one of the most successful television shows of all time. It ran for 10 seasons globally and was watched by over 50 million people. Moreover, a special event celebrating the sitcom’s legacy was commissioned with the announcement of the HBO Max streaming service.
FRIENDS followed the meme-worthy exploits as they navigated love, life, and career ambitions in New York City. The show became so popular that it made household names out of its stars and characters including Lisa Kudrow’s Phoebe Buffay, Matt LeBlanc’s Joey Tribbiani, Courteney Cox’s Monica Geller, Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing, Jennifer Anniston’s Rachel Green, and David Schwimmer’s Ross Geller. While fans were entangled with the relationship between Ross and Rachel, they were also gripped by the appearance of high-profile guest stars the show secured.
Well, the FRIENDS reunion was no different from the original show. The special event was stacked with a whole array of celebrity guest appearances. Justin Bieber is a famous Canadian Singer who appeared as a guest at the FRIENDS reunion. He appeared in Ross’s infamous ‘Spudnik’ potato costume in the fashion show at the reunion. And, he totally nailed it. You believe it or not, he made this boring suit look so cool with his presence!
2. BTS
BTS is the biggest boy band in the world. They said that the show helped them to learn English and also taught some amazing life lessons. They admitted that they loved the show and adore their characters.
3. James Corden
Yes, the Late Late Show star, James Corden was also in the FRIENDS reunion. He appeared as the host of the show. Even though there was a sect of people who didn’t want him hosting the show, but he did his job amazingly well.
4. Cara Delevingne
Cara is a supermodel of this era who is also an actress, and singer too. She was the one who modeled some of the most unique fashion moments of the show. She revived a memorable moment in FRIENDS history by wearing Rachel’s bright pink bridesmaid dress. She even has the back of her dress stuck in her underwear. Not just that, she also revived Ross’s famous costume of the “Holiday Armadillo”.
5. Cindy Crawford
Crawford is a supermodel and appeared to honor the show’s outfits that quickly became staples of ’90s fashion. She wore Ross’s famous leather pants in the fashion show that happened at the reunion. She totally nailed it!
6. David Beckham
Well, the former soccer star casually wearing a FRIENDS T-shirt is an indication of how much he loves the show and in the reunion, he admitted it himself. Especially, he loves Monica because she is a cleanliness freak, so does he. Also, he revealed that he loved the episode where no on gets ready as it keeps him entertained and smiling always. He even praised Chandler and Monica as a couple.
7. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga became a part of the reunion where she sang the famous iconic song “Smelly Cat”. And what could be better than singing it with Phoebe by her side! Yes, Gaga sang that song with Lisa Kudrow at the Central Perk. Well, in the end, Lisa nailed it by saying, “Still think its better when it’s just me“. Classic Phoebe!
8. Elliott Gould And Christina Pickles
Elliott and Christina were in the audience. They cheered for them and loved being in the show. They even talked about an incident from the show, where on their arrival the six characters announced that the “Parents are here! Parents are here!” And that was the time they felt like being their real parents. The two often felt and worried about the six friends as their own children. It surely shows the warmth inside the sets of the FRIENDS sets and why it was the best show ever.
9. Kit Harington
The Game Of Thrones star, Kit Harington appeared as a fan in the reunion special. He admitted that he felt like he is a part of the “Geller Family” while watching the show because he was neurotic and also a fan of tight pants. He also revealed that his favorite part was “Pivot” if you remember. He explained that the Pivot scene was iconic because it had minimal dialogues, but surprisingly the cast made it one of the best parts of the show simply with their comic sense and abilities.
10. Larry Hankin
Well, if you were missing Mr. Heckles, then no need to worry, he appeared in the show just as our all-time favorite, Mr. Heckles in the reunion. At the time of recreated famous “trivia game”, Larry Hankin appears as an answer to one of the questions in the game. And he like always said his famous dialogue to the whole group, “You all owe me a cat and a waffle“.
11. Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling appeared at the reunion as one of the celebrity fans of FRIENDS. She shared memories from the time Chandler and Monica became a couple and how much the audience went crazy about that turn of events in the show.
12. Thomas Lennon
In the reunion, the cast recreated the famous moment of the “trivia game”. In one of the questions, Joey had to figure out his hand twin out of the three options given to him. And who will be a better hand twin of Joey than the one who played it original? Yes, Thomas Lennon appeared as Joey’s hand twin in the reunion too.
13. Tom Selleck
Same as Thomas Lennon, Tom Selleck appeared in the “trivia game” as one of the answers. Well, on his appearance he had a question for the girls and it was a part of the “Lightning Round” they were playing already. Well, can you try guessing the question? Yes, it was one of the most sought out questions of all times asked by the FRIENDS fans worldwide, “What does Chandler do for a living?” Do you have an answer to that? No one could answer this even today.
14. James Michael Tyler
Do you remember the person who crushed over Rachel throughout the series? Yes, you got it right, it’s Gunther. Due to some reasons, he was not able to be at the reunion in person but he did connect with the cast at the time of it. He said that he loved the show and the characters as well. He loved working with them and it was one of the best 10 years of his life.
15. Maggie Wheeler
As a surprise, Maggie came to the couch where everybody was sitting and shared how she was cast in the show. She remembered that there was an outlet in her fax machine saying “Need fast-talking New Yorker” and she realized it was something she could easily do. So, she went there and got selected. She also revealed that Matthew Perry inspired her iconic laugh. Not to forget, she also mimics her magical 3 words “Oh. My. God.”
16. Reese Witherspoon
Rachel’s sister, Jill Green also appeared at the reunion. She remembered that when she was asked to cameo in FRIENDS as Rachel’s sister, she was thrilled. She was so excited when she entered the apartment and Joey directed his iconic line to her, “How you doin?” Reese also believed that the characters were so amazing that they were capable of running their own show but together, they were just magical.
17. Malala Yousafzai
The Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai also appeared in the show as a celebrity fan of FRIENDS. She admitted that after watching FRIENDS, she understood what actually binge-watching is. She said that she loves the show and its characters. Malala also revealed that her favorite episode is “The One With The Routine”. She says that she loved where Ross and Monica do the routine and it was quite hilarious.
