PoK or Pakistan Occupied Kashmir has been a matter of dispute for ages now. But, there isn’t any obvious solution yet. India and Pakistan have been fighting to conclude but all in vain. There are several reasons for this misfortune.
We Indians, while growing up, have always heard about PoK and the disturbances around it. Though we know a lot, still there are things many Indians might not be aware of. So, let’s have a look at some facts around PoK that every Indian should know.
PoK is divided into two parts for better administration. Officially they are called Gilgit-Baltistan and Jammu and Kashmir. But locally, people call Jammu and Kashmir as ‘Azad Kashmir’. Muzaffarabad is the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
We know PoK as Pakistan Occupied Kashmir but officially, the United Nations and other international organizations refer to PoK as “Pakistan-administered Kashmir.”
PoK Internal Administration
President of PoK on left, Prime Minister on right
The Chief or Head of the State is the President, while the Prime Minister is the Chief Executive Officer supported by a Council of Ministers. PoK also has its own Supreme Court and High Court.
Allegedly, Lashkar-e-Taiba, a massive terror organization in South Asia has several training camps in PoK. Many deny the allegations, but by now the world knows the truth.
People won’t be surprised if they know PoK lacks much freedom of expression. They lack any independent media, and the Pakistan Government controls everything. It’s said only One Radio Station is allowed to operate in PoK, named Azad Kashmir Radio.
A major portion of the population depends on agriculture. Wheat, maize, forestry and livestock are some sources of income for the people. Walnuts, honey, mushrooms, cherries, apples, resin, maple, medicinal herbs and plants, and burning wood are some other agricultural products in this area.
Tourism also helps earn some livelihood for some families. It is said that members of the British Mirpuri community send remittances here.
The Shaksgam Valley, a region of Raksam and Baltistan, which is a part of the PoK, was handed over to China by Pakistan in 1963. The area is also called a ceded area or Trans-Karakoram Tract.
During Partition, Jammu And Kashmir under the rule of Maharaja Hari Singh was given the option to either join India or Pakistan. But, Maharaja decided to keep Jammu and Kashmir as an independent State.
The Pathan Tribesmen invaded independent Jammu and Kashmir which led to the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947–1948. Pakistan denies playing any role in the invasion, but the shreds of evidence speak a different story.
Pathan Tribesmen Invasion forced Maharaja Hari Singh to seek India’s help by writing a letter to Lord Mountbatten, who was the Governor-General of India then. He received support from Indian Military but after signing the specially designed Instrument of Accession or the 26th October 1947 agreement.
Lord Mountbatten signed the agreement on 26th October 1947 with Maharaja Hari Singh where the Independent State handed over three subjects: Defense, Foreign Affairs and Communications to India. On rest matters, the State was free to take its own decisions.
Accession Day Celebration In Jammu & Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir observes 26th October as Accession Day and is declared as a public holiday. On this day in 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession with India. People celebrate the day by singing the National Anthem of India, bursting crackers and hoisting Indian Flag.
Jawaharlal Nehru, first Prime Minister of Free India, approached the United Nations to settle the PoK issue. The move is considered wrong by many as it left the dispute unresolved for a lifetime.
The United Nations intervened during the first war between India and Pakistan, which started in 1947. The U.N. took a plebiscite which demanded both the countries to put a ceasefire. However, the move left many issues unresolved and fueled the tension between India and Pakistan further.
All disputes between India and Pakistan, except the war in 1971, are related to the PoK issue. The matter is still unresolved, and as per the current situation if any government tries to let go of the situation or the piece of land, then it would bring havoc to the political party in their respective country.
Gilgit-Baltistan covers an area of 72,971 square kilometres, but the area is mostly mountainous. The population here is estimated to be 1.8 million in 2015 by Shahid Javed Burki (2015).
Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) shares its borders with Pakistan area of Punjab, Northwest, Wakhan corridor of Afghanistan, Xinjiang region of China and east of Indian Kashmir.
Sushant Singh Rajput was a great actor, his career was short, but he gave us a beautiful bouquet of movies to cherish. His talent brought him all the success and love he earned. Or else, it’s not so easy for an actor to jump from daily sope to Bollywood so smoothly and in such a short period.
The unfortunate incident was tough for all, and there has been a row of debates that arose from it. Nepotism is something that Bollywood industry was talking about for a long time, but after 14-06-2020, the statements became bold and clear.
People around believe Sushant was a victim of nepotism as well, and it took away a lot of movies from him. For now, we cannot confirm the statements, but we tried to find out some of the movies in which Sushant Singh Rajput was the first choice but couldn’t be a part of it due to several reasons.
Multiple actors were approached to play the lead in this movie, including Sushant, but allegedly, the filmmakers considered Vicky Kaushal for the role. But, later Vicky opted out leaving the reins in the hands of Salman Khan if rumours are to be believed.
A sequel of 1991 film Sadak, a movie by the Bhatts which mark the return of Mahesh Bhatt’s return as director after 20 years. Currently, the movie features Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapoor.
Mukesh Bhatt while talking to Times Now mentioned that they were in talks to cast Sushant Singh Rajput, looking into his interest for the opportunity. But, later they settled for Aditya Roy Kapoor.
Directed by Robbie Grewal, the movie was supposed to cast Sushant as the protagonist, but they had to take in John Abraham for the role later. As stated by Robbie, Sushant had other commitments, and the dates of the shooting were clashing, because of which he had to back out.
Sushant was offered the part played by Arjun Kapoor, but he didn’t take it. In an interview with BollywoodLife, Sushant stated that he had agreed for Dinesh Vijan’s untitled directorial debut, much before he was offered ‘Half Girlfriend’. And there was some confusion because of a third party that he could do both the films together.
Finally, as the dates were clashing, so he had to decline Mohit Suri’s ‘Half Girlfriend’ offer.
The word around the town was Sushant Singh would be featured in Aditya Chopra’s Befikre, but the movie went to Ranvir Singh as we all know. However, the film wasn’t so successful.
There were reports that Sushant would star against Katrina Kaif in the movie, Fitoor. But, eventually, he was replaced by Aditya Roy Kapoor.
On asking Sushant about the movie in an interview, he replied saying he had committed some other movie and because of delay in the shoots he wasn’t going to ditch the previous one for a new movie.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali was keen to work with Sushant on his project, Bajirao Mastani, but at that moment the later was busy with Shekhar Kapoor’s Paani. And so, Sanjay had to take in Ranvir for the lead role.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali projected and offered Sushant a lead role in his movie, Bajirao Mastani as well. But, Sushant couldn’t accommodate the same in his schedule as he was heard working with YRF then.
Tough luck, as both the movies by Sanjay Leela Bhansali offered to Sushant was a great hit and brought Ranvir Singh some good brownie points in his career. Maybe, this was a reason for some alleged heat between Ranvir and Sushant during those days.
It’s alleged that he auditioned for the movie and things were going quite good. But, later it was seen that Aditya Roy Kapoor got the part for which Sushant auditioned.
Yes, it’s a movie which didn’t release, and Sushant was working on it. Allegedly, he was beginning prep at the NASA space centre for this movie but later dropped it to create his own space flick with Innsaei Ventures.
Though the plan didn’t take off, it would have been a pleasure witnessing his ideas and beliefs on screen. He was really interested in outer space and bought a piece of land on the moon, which he used to see through his highly powerful telescope.
These were some movies, in which Sushant was alleged to be a part of, but things didn’t turn out successfully. We don’t yet know the reason for the tough decision that he took. But, we just pray and bless the noble soul.

90’s kids have a lot of things to cherish about. That period was different; our lives were different. The Internet didn’t exist as widely as today; people had friends, but mostly offline, kids used to play, but on fields, people used to watch movies and series but on television or theatres, etc. It never implies that the 90’s kids do not welcome the current changes; neither do we regret these changes, but obviously, we miss those little details and surprises from the past.
On the Internet, people are bragging about certain types of pen collection from the 90s or some card collections they own. Well, they say today’s kid will never know these. That’s true; today’s generation will never experience those unique elements of Life. And on the other hand, 90’s kids indeed have some unforgettable memories to share.
So here we have brought to you 19 such Memories that will make you feel nostalgic if you’re a 90’s kid. And, if you are not, then welcome to the world of magic where your elders used to go nuts on things so silly that you can’t even imagine.
Btw, did it strike you why we have brought 19 points? Because teens are always the best part of Life.
Every 90’s music enthusiastic kid had that cassettes collection they were proud of. But, the cassettes had a common problem, the tapes often came out, in cases like that almost everyone knew how to fix that. The best way to fix? Any guesses? Of course, it was to use pens or pencils. If you still don’t know how they did it, better ask your elder brother or seniors!
Kids these days won’t even think of a phone that sticks to a place forever, let alone using a landline. Back in those days, Landline was luxurious to many, and owning one was too cool. Even though we had this at home, kids didn’t gossip much over it; instead, they used to prefer meeting in person. But as teenagers, many love stories have sprung over calls on Landline.
Imagine calling your girlfriend from a landline sitting in your hall, while everyone’s around and talking to her in code language so that people don’t understand, it’s tough. More robust is the time when you call her at night and not get caught. It’s a real achievement, man! The people who managed to pass this are true legends now!
Tazos, Pokemon, WWE cards/ sticker
Guys! Remember we used to fight over these? Like these were very precious! But in those days, if you had the most unique one, then you were no less than a king.
Many of us might have purchased numerous chips packets or chocolates just to get hold of those Tazos and Cards that came free with them. We loved those more than our lives!
Milton bottle
If you’re a true 90’s kid, you must have hated these bottles back then, but now they seem so close to our heart. We won’t let it dangle around our neck of course, but it brings back some memories down the lane. Did you ever hit anyone with your bottle?
Pen Fights
School life of the 90s was cool, and on top of it, we had our homegrown games to play in between the classes. The Pen Fights were way too enthusiastic than you can imagine.
Door Darshan
Remember your entertainment source? Well how can you forget the Background tune of DD, it is unforgettable!
Kismi, Mango Bite, Coffee bite etc
You can still buy these candies, but now the craze isn’t the same it used to have. Now people are craving for costly chocolate bars whereas 90’s kids were happy with these cute little toffee.
Shaktiman
Shaktiman was one of the most unforgettable TV shows of the 90s, and we kids loved him a lot. He was like a role model for us and the little lessons he used to give after every episode, believe it or not, some of them have stayed with us till now—all for good.
Candy Cigarettes
You are not a real 90’s kid if you haven’t tried fake cigarette candies to look cool among your friends. We would pose and act like adults, and all that was funny. Today if you think of those times, you will have stories to laugh upon yourself and your acts.
Indian Pop Music
You might think now that the lyrics back then were lame and silly but it did make you dance in your childhood with the tunes right?
And many have even proposed with those songs, and guess what? It worked back then! So don’t dare call these songs dumb, they have many memories attached.
Outdoor Games
Today’s kids hardly know the fun of outdoor games. It was nothing like virtual games. Every 90s kid played outdoor games like lock and key, mountain and water, Pitto, Gilli Danda, corner to corner, elastic etc. It was fun and energetic!
Indoor Games
Playing online Carrom, ludo, UNO is fun, but 90s kids played these on real boards. Ludo, Chinese Checker, Chess, Carrom, etc. was how we used to pass the time with friends and family. And the cheating and shouting were priceless.
Cartoon TV shows
Who remembers Noddy, Bob The Builder, Oswald, Power Rangers, Pokemon? All-time favourite right? 90’s kids cannot imagine a day without watching their favourite cartoon. It was our lifeline; parents used to blackmail and got our Homeworks done on time to allow us to watch the shows.
Comics
Champak, Panchatantra, Tenali Raman, Amar Chitra Katha, Suppandi Nandan etc., these comics were our best friends when we got bored in those days! They kept the much-needed reading habit alive in us, thanks to the great comic creators.
Big Babol and Boomer
Is there anyone who didn’t chew these gums back then? The 90s kids, no doubt, made gigantic bubbles with bubble gums. Almost, everyone has had competitions among friends, and we bet, even today no one can beat us at this!
Fountain Pen/h2>
Your Handwriting looks so much different with ink pens, right? Every morning you had to make sure that your fountain pen has enough ink to last the day. And the mess we made while filling those pens was never a pretty sight. But we knew how to hide the mess, just wipe it in your hair! Didn’t you do that too?
Nataraj Geometry Box
Did you have to force your parents to buy you a Nataraj Geometry Box because your friends had it? It was a treasure chest for us back then. That tin box with all its components in it was priceless than any other box ever owned. Hope you were not one of the naughty lads who used to poke others with the sharp compass in the box.
Paper Boats
I don’t know why this trend went away. Many of us sometimes make these boats while it’s raining, but kids no more do it. It was so much fun where you made your Paper Boats during the Monsoon season and made a race out of it. Drenching in the rain and looking at your boat win the race was priceless.
White Bata Shoes
Every one of us owned the white bata shoes because it was compulsory in schools back then. Every Friday, there would be someone or the other in every class getting scolded for not washing those white pairs of shoes.
But some were cunning enough to dodge the scolding by stealing chalks from the teacher’s desk and rubbing it on the shoe to make it look white. Surprisingly the trick worked on several occasions, and we thought ourselves to be the smartest in the world. Those good old days!
A gush of memories hit you once you start walking down that lane in the past, it is not possible to sum it all. No wonder time passes so fast, and things change forever.
Now no one knows the satisfaction of watching cartoons just after you come back home from school or the fun you had playing outside home. But we, the kids of the ’90s, are lucky to have experienced it all.
The thought of reliving those days once again at least for a day might have occurred to you too. But, sadly, we have to embrace and enjoy this changing world. However, we can keep the memories and lessons close to our heart. And one such lesson includes, Life is fun even without sharing it on social media.
Meme marketing is the next big thing, and we know it because we have experienced its real power. Through years of practice and experimentation, we have seen MEMEs can create brands in a way no one ever imagined. Everyone underestimated MEMEs to be a social element used for humour, but it has risen to be more than that.
You need not just believe our words unless you know the facts as to why MEME Marketing is so powerful and why it has the potential to be the next big thing. We will explain to you everything right from the roots because if you know the base, you know what else it can do in future. In case if you are wondering, why are we talking on this subject or do we really have any knowledge on this subject; then let me introduce you to MeMedia, a MEME First Influencer Marketing Company. We are presenting our views based on the analysis and knowledge of the experts at MeMedia.
To begin with, let’s start with the basics but with a different perspective.
What is MEME Marketing?
You don’t know yet? No problem, we’ll explain but you need to focus because this is where you get the whole concept cleared out. Rest is just based on these basics.
MEMEs have become an integral part of social media, you scroll your feed, and you can be sure to find more than one MEME waiting for you to giggle and like it. Such is the power of MEMEs that people can easily relate to it and use it to express themselves.
So coming to our topic, if we explain in simple terms, the moment we employ MEMEs into marketing, we are directed towards MEME marketing. Sounds simple right? It is indeed simple if you know to do it the right way, and that’s what requires experience. MEME marketing is a part of Viral Marketing because here, we utilise the juice of viral content to make our brand popular or sometimes vice versa.
If you are in par with the world through Social Media, then you have already witnessed many MEMEs online. Whatever the MEME be, one thing remains constant that they are humorous and convey the message shortly and efficiently, making them one of the best marketing tools available to us today.
Why MEME marketing?
To understand why MEME marketing is essential, first, we need to know why MEMEs have become so important in our lives and why they are considered integral. Enlighten yourself with the importance of MEMEs before heading to know the benefits you might derive out of MEME marketing.
Instant & Programmed Humour That Is Relatable
MEMEs trigger instantly and strike your funny bone in less than seconds. People nowadays don’t have time for lengthy videos or long verses to get the message out of it on every post. Instead, they prefer scrolling through their feed and grasp only the info that is easily comprehendible. MEMEs take the least time to convey the message and hit hard the message to make it last for a long time.
You may argue that people who haven’t come across a new MEME may take time to comprehend it or they may ignore the MEME if they know nothing about it. That’s a possibility, but on the other hand, it makes the scene even more beautiful as well; when you don’t understand a MEME, you seem to be more competitive and try to decipher the meaning anyhow. And finally when you crack the code, the message prints in your head for a long time.
Also, that particular MEME creates an identity of its own. You might have noticed that MEMEs are about some specific sets of Visuals which convey the message. This fact gives you the privilege of promoting your message and getting the desired result. If your message is in sync with the MEME, then it ought to reach the audience and hit the right cord.
Once the MEME gets decoded, people tend to relate to it, which triggers them to share and interact with the post, thereby increasing the much-needed engagement rate.
MEME Test Time
To test our words, take a look at these images below. These are MEMEs which are common, and most of us would be able to hear the MEMEs without any text in them.

The MEMEs above did not have text in some portions, but still, we could figure out the meaning because we recognise those templates and the mood they want to convey. Now, imagine a MEME template that can speak out good for you, without even having to say much. Won’t it be the best marketing strategy?
How MEMEs Are Helpful In Marketing
If you read the previous point right, you might have already figured out some of the benefits you get out of MEMEs or MEME Marketing as a whole; still, here we will put them forward in points, to comprehend it better.
MEMEs convey your message the right way and touch the right chord in your audience.
MEMEs have high Engagement Rate.
Grabbing Audience Attention becomes easy, reduces chances of getting overlooked.
Your message slides into your audience with humour, thereby creating a lasting impression.
Reaching the untapped youth audience becomes easy.
Appeals to people who hate Aggressive Commercial Ads.
Allows access to the Indian meme community consisting of thousands of pages and abundance of creators.
Access to Indian Meme Community means getting access to their fan base as well, which is gigantic in India. (To give you an idea, MeMedia’s Network alone can bring you access to more than 400 million audiences)
Having learned the benefits we get from MEMEs and MEME Marketing, you might have made your mind to give it a try, if not then let’s see why MEME marketing is going to stay here for a long time, and if you don’t deploy this marketing module now, then you are losing a lot.
Why is MEME Marketing the next big thing?
A marketer who is in business knows already how costly it has become to advertise in traditional ways; the ROI has decreased significantly. People have developed a resistance towards Commercial Ads resulting in less conversion. The circumstances have forced marketers to create new marketing strategies and look out for new channels to advertise.
Amidst all this chaos among marketers, MEMEs have created a place in everyone’s heart which is irreplaceable for a long time now. The fact that MEMEs are based on humour makes them immortal for a long time. As long as humans have words, humour will prevail, only the way to express it might change over time.
Moreover, MEMEs attract youth the most and any brand willing to get in touch with this audience group and maintain a touchpoint with them can experiment with MEME Marketing. The Gen-Z generation or the untapped generation, which will be the future of our upcoming markets reside in this horizon. So not ravelling this stone may prove to be disastrous for brands that are planning to stay forever.
MEME Marketing is a concept where you don’t advertise your brand to get an instant result; instead, you express your brand and try to cultivate a positive atmosphere around it. While executing campaigns like this, you make your audience more loyal and attached to your brand. Attachment increases because the MEMEs force them to interact with your post, which creates a prolonged impression. If you can increase your attachment with the Gen-Z audience today, then it will reap the fruits tomorrow.
Many notable brands are switching to MEME Marketing and trying their best to lure in an increasing number of audience, especially the youth who love spending time on the Internet searching for MEMEs. Netflix, Amazon, Tiktok, Alibaba, Puma, Tinder, Oyo and many more have tried this marketing technique already. The fact that they are continuing with it proves that MEME Marketing works well.
To summarise, MEME Marketing gives you a platform where you can interact with your audience and make them aware of your offering in a disguised way. You do not directly place your product on the floor without having gained their trust. It creates all positive thoughts and ideas around your brand, which improves the Brand Image and awareness. And all this is done, without forcing the audience, they do it willingly, they consume your ad readily because now they love it and seek for it.
Having explained all this, if you do it right, then we can say MEME Marketing is a technique in which people come looking for your ads rather than you going behind the people to serve it. So don’t you think such a model of marketing will stay in business for long?
Is It For You?
We have understood the potential of MEME Marketing by now, but will this model fit into your business? It’s a very crucial question to ask yourself because however great the marketing model is, if it’s not for you, you can never get desired results. So checking its viability in your business becomes essential.
The primary use of MEME includes spreading awareness and creating a positive environment. However, with increasing expertise, experts are venturing news heights to meet new challenges in the market.
If you are a brand looking forward to creating campaigns that can garner goodwill and positive thoughts, then you are always welcome. MEME Marketing will bring you excellent results with a low investment. Also, generating social fans, increasing brand loyalty, and engagement is easy using this marketing model.
However, if you are looking for a direct return or sales, then it requires more perfection and professionalism. And with time, our experts at MeMediaare evolving and trying to formulate new ways to harness the MEME Power. So it’s always better to consult us regarding your requirement, and we can brainstorm to get things done the right way.
How to make the best use of meme marketing?
Once you have figured out your need, that’s not the end. It would help if you execute the campaign in the right way and use the right channel.
For instance, there are many MEME templates available, and as discussed, every template triggers a predefined mood. If your message does not fit around that mood, then you may become an element of troll which will never be good for the brand image. Therefore it’s preferable to employ experts while executing campaigns efficiently.
We at MeMedia have a proud record when it comes to MEME Marketing, we have served clients like Alibaba, OnePlus, TikTok, Oppo and more. And we boast a network wherein you get access to 400mn+ audience, 1000+ Social Media Channels, 600+ MEME Influencers and 100+ Content Creators. On 23rd June 2020, Patanjali unveiled “Coronil and Swasari”, their Corona Drug which claims to cure COVID-19 within 7 days. CEO Acharya Balkrishna and Ramdev Baba were present at the event where they claimed the medicine showed a 100% recovery rate during the clinical trials.
However, the Ministry of AYUSH stated the facts and claims by Patanjali are not known to them; they also denied acknowledging the facts and numbers related to the scientific study conducted by the company. Further, Ministry of AYUSH has also asked Patanjali to stop all advertisements related to the proposed Corona Kit and provide the needed information ASAP. Until which they cannot take it public.
In defence, Patanjali Ayurved CEO, Acharya Balkrishna said they provided all necessary information to the Ministry of AYUSH and also took all the required permissions to carry on their clinical trials and launch. He also took to twitter and cited miscommunication a reason with the scenario that arose and even mentioned it had been done away with.
— Acharya Balkrishna (@Ach_Balkrishna) June 23, 2020
Translating the above Twitter post, it reads: “This govt encourages and bestows pride to Ayurveda. Communication gap has been done away with, and we have 100% fulfilled all standard parameters for Randomised Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trials. We’ve given info for the same to Ministry of AYUSH.”
During the conference with media, Ramdev Baba said the medicine, “Coronil and Swasari”, was developed by the joint efforts of Patanjali Research Centre and NIMS. He also mentioned that the Clinical controlled study involved 280 patients from cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad and more where 100% of those patients recovered within 7 days of the treatment.
Ramdev also mentioned the fact that they conducted tests on all kinds of patients except those who were in critical stages and were on life support systems. Reconfirming the facts, Dr Jaideep Arya, central chief co-ordinator at Patanjali Yogpeeth, tweeted saying the tests conducted jointly by Patanjali and NIIMS, Jaipur showed 100% recovery within 7 days. His tweet reads as follows:
— Dr Jaideep Arya #Patanjali (@swabhimani1) June 23, 2020
If all things go well and Ministry of AYUSH gives a green signal to the proposed drug by Patanjali, then they are all set to sell the Corona Kit for just Rs. 545/- and the sales would start within a week.
For now, there is no clarity regarding the proposed drug. Until the Ministry of AYUSH reviews and approves the drug, it won’t be made available to the public. Hopefully, the claims by Patanjali come true, and the proposed drug works as intended.
The world is eagerly waiting for a cure. If Patanjali succeeds in developing the right drug, then it could be a great success for the firm as well as India. Let’s hope for the best. Humankind needs a cure soon.

The Supreme Court has allowed Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra to commence in Puri from June 23, 2020. Though authorised, it will be conducted in a restricted manner as directed by the Supreme Court and agreed by the Centre and State Government citing the rise of Corona Virus.
On June 18, 2020, CJI SA Bobde cancelled the Rath Yatra saying “Lord Jagannath will not forgive us if we allow this to continue.” The decision was taken after a PIL was filed on June 15 by Bhubaneswar-based NGO’ Odisha Vikas Parishad’ through advocate Ranjeeta Rohatgi citing the threat of getting lakhs of devotees exposed to Covid-19.
Considering the fact that Odisha recorded 5160 Covid-19 patients and 15 deaths in the state by June 21, the filed petition looked justified. But on the other hand, a tradition running uninterrupted for 285 years can be ruled out overnight because it will affect the devotion of many.
Finally, after several petitions were filed to revoke the order and to allow the historic Rath Yatra to be conducted, Supreme Court CJI SA Bobde considered the petitions and left it upon the judgement of the Jagannath Temple Management Trust and Odisha government to conduct the Yatra smoothly but without the presence of devotees.
Also, the Supreme Court has allowed the Rath Yatra to be conducted only at the main Jagannath Temple in Puri, but not at the other Jagannath Temples in the state.
After the Court’s decision, Odisha minister Arun Kr Sahoo told reporters, “On behalf of devotees of Lord Jagannath, the government of Odisha welcomes this decision of Supreme Court”.
“All guidelines will be followed strictly. It’s our duty to look after how Rath Yatra can be conducted peacefully and safely. The state government will take all measures,” news agency ANI quoted him as saying.
Though the Supreme Court has approved the Rath Yatra, devotees are to be kept away citing the pandemic. Interestingly, every year Lakhs of devotees gather to mark the celebration and seek Lord Jagannath’s grace. But this year the streets would look empty, and the pics surfacing will be one of a kind.
It is to remind the devotees that the decision is taken considering the safety of the state, and everyone’s cooperation would be helpful. However, to seek Lord’s blessings, the devotees can tune into the Live Telecast of the entire event on their TV.
