Beautiful Mughal Gardens In India With Strange History To Explore!

0

The Mughals came to India in the 15th century, and were fascinated by the country’s culture and heritage; they decided to stay because to them, the place felt like home. The Mughals were quite passionate about buildings. The styles of their architecture are quite fascinating, and every cut and scribble on the walls reflect utmost perfection. One of their intricate styles involves building canals in the middle of a rectangular park that is unmatchable in terms of beauty. Their architectural style finds base from various Islamic and Persian designs and styles. Charbagh is a garden which is interpreted as the four gardens of Paradise, as stated in the Holy Quran. You can easily distinguish a Mughal garden with its excellent characteristics like beautiful pools, ponds and fountains, which gives an exotic essence to these masterpieces.

Here’s a list of some Mughal gardens that are worth considering-

Shalimar Bagh, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir

Shalimar Bagh is the biggest Mughal Garden stretching to 12.4 hectares in size and has three terraces. Shalimar in Sanskrit means the ‘abode of love’. Jahangir built this Garden for his beloved wife, Noor Jahan. There’s a black pavilion on the top terrace that has Persian inscriptions on it by the poet Amir Khusrow.

Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi

This masterpiece in Delhi has three sections-Pearl Garden, Butterfly Garden, and the Circular Garden, and all three of them look mesmerising. The Mughal gardens of Jammu & Kashmir and the Garden of Taj Mahal inspired Sir Edwin Lutyens to build this Garden for Lady Harling. This Garden is full of greenery and has some of the rarest flower species in the world.

Taj Mahal Garden, Agra, Uttar Pradesh

The Garden around the Taj Mahal adds a lot to the beauty of the tomb and makes it one of the seven wonders of the world. The 300 m sq. complex uses raised pathways that together divide each of the four-quarter gardens into 16 sunken flower beds. This masterpiece is also famous for its beautiful gardens which were said to be designed by Ali Mardan, who was the architect of the Shalimar gardens in Jammu & Kashmir.

Verinag garden, Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir

Verinag Garden stretches around an area of 70 km, from Srinagar and has a total area of 5.3 hectares; it has beautifully manicured lawns and big Chinar trees that add more beauty to the Garden. Jahangir, during his time, was mesmerised by a spring. To preserve and elevate the beauty of the place, he made a pool, a pavilion and a garden around it. Later his son, Shah Jahan carried on the expansion of the project.

Humayun’s Tomb, New Delhi

Empress Bega Begum (also known as Haji Begum), Humayun’s first wife and chief consort, initiated the construction of this tomb between 1569-70. It was designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son, Sayyid Muhammad, along with the Persian architects who constructed this tomb in memory of Humayun, the 2nd emperor of the Mughal dynasty. Area of Charbagh is spread over 30 acres of land, has a quadrilateral layout, and it exclusive in whole of South Asia.

Yadavindra Gardens, Pinjore, Haryana

Dating back to 17th Century India, Pinjore Gardens is a beautiful Mughal Garden, located in the city of Pinjore, Panchkula District, Haryana. People come to witness the terrace gardens with unmatchable glamour in Pinjore Gardens. In the year 2019, the Garden also served as the venue of the annual Mango Festival during Baisakhi. The beautiful expanse of flora is not all; the Garden also houses a mini zoo, an area dedicated to historic places, a serene Japanese garden, and a gorgeous nursery as well.

Khusro Bagh, Paryagraj, Uttar Pradesh

There are three tombs in Allahabad- Tomb of Khusro, Tomb of Nithar and Tomb of Shah Begum. Each of them has beautiful Islamic inscriptions, cenotaph, gorgeous panels, motifs and beautiful paintings on the roof. And the Garden which surrounds them is no doubt impressive, it’s also full of Mango and Guava trees. But can’t pluck them though!

Nishant Garden, Srinagar, Jammu Kashmir

The name of the Garden itself means Garden of joy and delight. The Nishant Garden is known to be much more delightful than the Shalimar garden. Inside you will find 12 terraces that represent 12 zodiac signs. There’s also a water canal of 4 meters which has Chinar and Cypress trees on both sides, and it’s no doubt the perfect combination of architecture and floral beauty.

Roshanara Garden, New Delhi

Located near Kamla Nagar clock tower in Shakti Nagar, Delhi, it was built by Roshanara Begum herself. In the corner of the Garden, you will find the ruins of her palace and tomb. Apart from the tomb and natural beauty of these gardens, rumours say the place is haunted. There’s a tale of a pair who lived on a Peepal tree and they are the one haunting it. The story is another reason why people get curiously drawn towards the Garden.

Chasme Sahi Garden, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir

Ali Mardan Khan constructed this Garden. This Garden has a spring believed to have medicinal properties, because of which people can be spotted filling water into their vessels from the spring. The spring was known to be discovered by Rupa Bhawani. The place is an excellent blend of Mughal Architecture and Persian style.

Verinag, Anantanag, Jammu and Kashmir

Verinag Spring in Anantnag district of Jammu Kashmir is renowned for its spellbinding beauty. Emperor Jahangir built this while the Mughal Garden by the spring was laid down by Shah Jahan. Verinag spring was originally an irregular and shapeless pond, and water, oozing out from different places in it and spread about and formed a little marsh.

If you like revisiting the past by gazing at historical remains, you should consider visiting the places mentioned above. And for people who love beautiful gardens and greenery, I think they have already got the message and planning to book their tickets soon!

It’s frustrating to go through all of these mishappenings one by one.

However, life has to go on, and we can never forget the special dialogues, which made him the superstar he deserves to be. No one might have imagined that a day might come when his dialogue: “Marne se pehle main chahta hoon ke mere pariwar ke saath ek family photo ho … jiske neeche title hoga “Kapoor and Sons”, since 1921.”, would sound so real and he would not be with us anymore.

Tribute to Irrfan Khan: Most Memorable Movies and Dialogues

0

Just when people assumed that nothing worse is possible, the 29th of April 2020 rattled the nation with the untimely death of the immensely talented Irrfan Khan. He was Bollywood’s saving grace. While many of the Bollywood movies are often ridiculed for their overtly conventional plot lines and over the top ensembles, Khan’s films had a certain charm. He managed to deliver performances that were par excellence. Each character that he played snugged their way into our hearts and always left a lasting impression. Irrfan Khan was a man of immense talent; he did the talking through his eyes, captivating the audience and moving them to the core. It is indeed a significant loss for the Indian Film Industry and also for the world at large.

Irrfan Khan’s Movies

Here are some critically acclaimed films of Irrfan Khan that you should consider watching. His talent had taken him places; he most deservingly made his way to Hollywood. It’s not easy to write this piece as my heart and fingers tremble, still, here we go with the list:

‌Paan Singh Tomar

Based on a true story, ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ was a biopic of an Indian athlete by the same name. Khan put his soul into this character, and it comes alive on the screen with its full glory. No one but Irrfan could have done justice to this emotional and inspirational story of an equally inspiring man.

Piku

Cab driver, Rana Chaudhary makes a rather comedic entrance in the life of Piku and her ageing father. They embark upon a journey that renders the characters, and more so, the viewers heartbroken and gasping for breath. Gasping for breath because you’ll get uncontrollable fits of laughter.

The Lunchbox

It’s a beautiful story where a widowed man whose mundane existence receives a fresh breath of life, because of an accidental exchange of lunch box delivery.

Life of Pi

In this award-winning movie, Khan plays Pi Patel, who narrates the tumultuous journey he forcefully undertook as a young boy after a horrid shipwreck that killed his entire family. Khan delivers an excellent performance as usual.

Slumdog Millionaire

Now, there is hardly anyone who hasn’t watched this movie. This movie serves as the prime example of the fact that Khan can, with utmost ease, mould perfectly into any character. His acting skills define perfection, and he does so with the subtle art of excellence that is achieved only through years and years of religious dedication.

Irrfan Khan’s Dialogues

Here are some dialogues uttered by the characters Irrfan Khan embraced in his short yet undeniably fruitful career that have immortalised this fine specimen of an actor and human being as a whole –

Life of Pi

I suppose, in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go. But what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.

The lunchbox

Sometimes, the wrong train takes you to the right destination.

The Namesake

Pick a pillow and a blanket and see as much of the world as you can. You will not regret it. One day, it’ll be too late.

The lunchbox

If this is the case, then here is a list of 15 more mysterious yet astounding places that are forbidden to tourists because of certain strange reasons, but seems perfect for a curious soul like you.

SNAKE ISLAND, BRAZIL

Do you have ophidiophobia? Or in simpler words, are you scared of snakes? If yes, then Brazil’s Ilha da Queimada Grande island will surely give you the creeps. The island is famously known as the Snake Island because it inhabits around 4,000 venomous snakes called Bothrops Insularis whose venom if seeped into the skin of humans can melt it within seconds. Thus, the Brazilian government has banned this place, citing the safety of both humans and these endangered species.

AREA 51, NEVADA

Are you a fan of the movie E.T. and believe that aliens exist for real? Then you must be excited to hear that perhaps your notions might be correct. Deep within the Nevada desert, there is a secret United States Air Force base rumoured to have taken extraterrestrials into hostages and conducting experiments on them. Moreover, the officials working there are allegedly testing on certain aircraft and weapons. Tight security around the perimeters of the area is always maintained, and till date, not a single outsider knows what happens within the secret premises.

THE LASCAUX CAVES, FRANCE

The country of France hosts one of the most beautiful cave arts, dating back to 17,000 years. Beautiful carvings of the prehistoric men, their hunting tactics and strange rituals led to the opening of these caves to the tourists in 1948. But, as more and more people started entering and exploring them, there were changes in the air with a high rate of carbon dioxide, humidity and heat resulting in the damage of these ancient paintings. Thus, to conserve them, tourists were prohibited from visiting the Lascaux caves since 1963. Sad right?

NORTH SENTINEL ISLAND, ANDAMAN

If you’ve ever visited Andaman, you would be familiar with its beautiful islands, surrounded with coconut trees, the sandy shores and the perfectly blue waters. But, there’s a specific island within Andaman known as the North Sentinel Island which is incredibly off-limits to any person. A hostile tribe of nearly 50 – 400 people inhabit that area and are known to attack any travellers with arrows and rocks who try to get in contact with them. Alas, such a gorgeous beauty remains unknown to many tourists.

ROOM 39, NORTH KOREA

North Korea is a master of keeping secrets from all over the world, and Room 39 is one of them. Actual Room 39 is thought to be located inside a ruling Workers’ Party building in the capital city of Pyongyang. Some reports claim that this room, owned by the supreme dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong is involved in illegal affairs like drug smuggling, counterfeiting as well as selling of highly improved arms and weapons to powerful countries like Japan and parts of Asia. Only God knows what happens inside.

FORT KNOX, KENTUCKY

This highly protected region of the US is responsible for holding some of the world’s greatest national treasures, and it preserves vast gold reserves worth 147.3 million. The possibility of a break-in is almost nil as blast-proof doors secure the main vault, including 30,000 army men guarding the whole fort along with helicopters ready to throw missiles in case of any dire necessity.

DULCE BASE, USA

Dulce Base, situated on the Colorado-New Mexico border, is known for many conspiracy theories spiralling around it. This small town is said to house an underground laboratory where only a handful of skilled scientists are allowed, who administer strange experiments. Rumours make things more exciting, and one such rumour says that perhaps the Native Americans residing over there have hidden a new species of human-animal hybrids. Guess what, the mutants shown in the movie Wolverine might be real.

POVEGLIA ISLAND, ITALY

If you’re easily scared of dark and secluded places then learning about the Poveglia Island will give you the chills. Built to host thousands of infected patients during the Roman Empire when the plague hit the country, the soil of the island consists only of ashes of these diseased patients. Later on, when a mental asylum became operational, a series of ghoulish incidents took place claiming the lives of everyone under mysterious circumstances. Since reports of haunting spread all over Italy, Poveglia Island is now a place people avoid. Anyways, who would even dare to take a step at such a sinister place?

SURTSEY ISLAND, ICELAND

One of the beautiful islands to have emerged from a volcanic eruption is the Surtsey Island in Iceland. It’s a highly forbidden place for anyone to visit except a handful of scientists because the government doesn’t want the ecosystem over there to get hammered from unwanted human intervention. They want to observe how flora and fauna grow naturally without human interference. If you happen to become a scientist in the future, then you might get lucky enough to be allowed to enter the gorgeous island.

BHANGARH FORT, INDIA

VATICAN APOSTOLIC ARCHIVE, VATICAN

The Vatican city hosts hordes of ancient documents, manuscripts, accounts, letters sent in secrecy by Michelangelo and Mary, Queen of Scotland and other such vital paperwork dating back to the 8th century relating to the Catholic Church. Only, exclusive researchers are permitted to have access to these records and that too with high limitations.

This secured seed reserve consists of samples of various seeds that might help in the times of need. Tight security measures are in place, and no one can enter the vault without permission.

MEZHGORYE, RUSSIA

Another such exciting sight where the intrusion of the common folk is not allowed is the town of Mezhgorye in Russia. Word has it that the citizens here are working on a secret nuclear project. There’s also news that the Russian leaders have kept an enormous storage bunker filled with food and that they might even be working on a mining operation. Till date, nobody knows what goes on in this little town.

HEARD ISLAND, AUSTRALIA

The Heard Island of Australia is a place of utmost wonder with its pristine glaciers and a wide variety of birds and animals like the penguins and seals. But, the exotic location can only be enjoyed through satellite images as the island is not open to the general population. The Island stands restricted because of the probable lava outbreak and its isolated location, which is far away from human inhabitation.

PLUTO’S GATE, TURKEY

There are strange stories associated with Pluto’s Gate in Turkey, also known as the “gate to hell“. Any animal or bird that got too close to the perimeters of the gate were supposedly killed by the breath of the Death God, Pluto as per religious claims. But, scientists, later on, revealed that due to the presence of an abnormal amount of carbon dioxide ( nearly 53% ) present inside the gate, any living being who wanders near it could die immediately after inhalation. Hence, the place is off-limits to everyone.

Dressing Tips For Shorter Men To Look Tall

0

The height is something men are concerned about, mainly when they have less than average height. Often people find short girls cute, but we don’t hear any such positive comment when it comes to the height of men. Maybe that’s the reason men are insecure about their height when they are shorter than their other male friends.

Firstly it’s essential to understand and accept there is nothing wrong with being a short man. You have no control over your height. So rather than crying on what you don’t have, focus on what you can have, your Personality!

People often say that “personality matters” right? And your appearance with certain outfits gives out the best of your Personality. So to make an impression, you must choose the right outfit.

Here are some essential and easy tips you must follow; these tips will help you look taller and handsome! The two most important things you must keep in mind while choosing an outfit are colour and pattern along with fitting of the outfit.

Things To Avoid

First, let’s start with the things you should avoid-

  • It would be best if you avoided loose fitted clothes. Like your pants should not stack up on top of your shoes. And sleeves should not go past your waist.
  • Avoid wearing oversized clothes. If you are short and skinny, clothes with extra details are not for you.
  • It’s best not to choose clothes with large or prominent patterns. Also, avoid thick patterns. The pattern is an essential factor that reflects your upper body. So even if the big thick strips look fancy don’t try it. Bold patterns create breaks.
  • In terms of accessories, men do look dashing in ties and watches. But they play an essential role in showcasing your height. If you are short, avoid big watches. It will make you look skinny. Avoid big knot ties, always wear small tie knots.
  • Avoid bulky over wear it will make you look short and stacked.
  • Avoid blazers with more than three buttons because it will draw full attention to your upper body.

These were the things you should avoid while going shopping.

Things To Try

Now, I hope we all agree with the fact that dressing sense matters to everyone. And here we have a few points that will help you find out that the right dressing can change your looks as well as your height!

  • As said earlier, the colour of the outfit you wear is important. The colour combinations you choose will make or break your entire look. And the right combination will make you look taller even.
  • There are two grand colour schemes for shorter men: monochrome and analogous.
  •

  • When it comes to choosing the right colour combination for shorter men, try to streamline your figure by avoiding contrast. And choose small scale patterns like thin vertical or horizontal stripes.
  • Wear a thinner lightweight down jacket or a wool topcoat and top long coats. If you are wearing a blazer, keep the waist button on your coat positioned above the navel.
  • While wearing a sports jacket, make a little contrast between your jacket and trousers. And if you are wearing sweaters and t-shirts prefer V necks and avoid turtle necks.
  • Don’t wear your pants too high and keep your belts slim.
  • You must wear boosting shoes! Mostly, short guys prefer boots. But you don’t have to wear heels; those are uncomfortable. There are certain types of sneakers that have thicker soles with higher heels that will make you look tall.
  • Always go for low contrasting footwear. Don’t contrast too heavily with trousers; it helps to elongate the leg. It is advisable to wear a pointed toe shoe and keep the shoe below the ankle.
  • Always sit with your back straight and stand proud with your head up high all time. Work on your posture.
  • Short hair works best for short men. Long hair tends to hide the neck and shoulders, making your head and body look like one body part.
  • Stay fit, because heavier and muscular men tend to look broader and stubbier. So if you have a broad body or shoulder, you will look short.
  • Always ask in the stores if they have a collection for shorter men or if they take special orders for shorter men.
  • Men in formals always look dashing. If you are planning on going to a meeting or a date, formals are always one good option, whether it be your client or your girl.

Is North Korea Going To Be Free From Kim Jong Un’s Rule? Report Says He is Dying!

0

We all are familiar with the name Kim Jong Un, aren’t we? The supreme dictator of North Korea who has quite successfully established fear in the hearts of its citizens because of his bizarre laws and cruel fascism. Can you imagine a country where you have to seek the government’s permission to possess a computer of your own? Well, under Kim Jong’s rule, it is fairly possible. Shocking right? Well, that’s not all; the citizens here can’t even visit another country or leave their native land without the authorization of the government. It is a criminal offence. Oppressed and frustrated, the people here often try to run away, and those caught in the act face a doomed life afterwards in the infamous labour camps or get executed. But recently, reports are going around that Kim Jong might be at death’s door. Has God finally listened to the prayers of the people of North Korea? Are they finally going to be freed from the tyranny of its brutal ruler?

The very first speculations of Kim Jong Un’s ailing health conditions started this month after he failed to attend his grandfather, Kim Il Sung’s birthday celebrations on April 15. A North Korean news site known as Daily NK, later on, revealed that with the help of an anonymous source they have come to know that Kim Jong was suffering from heart-related problems since August, last year. His conditions probably got worse due to his repeated visits to Mount Paektu.

Certain unnamed sources seemed to have gathered the fact that Kim Jong had undergone a cardiovascular surgery on April 12 secretly. The Daily UK has also reported that Kim is currently residing at a villa situated on the outskirts of Pyongyang, recovering from his operation. Since the surgery, his health is considered to be deteriorating rapidly, some even suggesting that he might be at serious risk. The South Korean government who is currently going through the reports of Kim Jong’s heart surgery has stated that he is in a “fragile” condition. A US official also mentioned that the US had collected information which pointed out certain complications that might have risen post the surgery of Kim, which probably made him immobilized. But, the official also emphasized that it’s merely a hypothesis and nothing seems clear as of yet.

Among such suppositions, a representative of the presidential Blue House of South Korea, Kang Min Seok, denied all pieces of information that were doing the rounds about Kim Jong’s health. He stated that these were just rumours and no unusual movement was noted inside North Korea. Even the Yonhap news agency that came in contact with an anonymous government official told the agency that claims of Kim being in a critical condition were all untrue. A Chinese official and a member of the Chinese Communist Party who chose to remain unnamed also informed Reuters that people need not believe that Kim’s condition has worsened.

But, if you have a closer look at Kim’s lifestyle choices and practices, it would seem that there is a fair possibility of these rumours to be true. It is said that Kim is a voracious eater, especially a cheese aficionado that has led him to a poor diet and made him obese. His weight was 300lbs in 2016 as reported by the South Korean intelligence department. He also has diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and is a heavy smoker too. While visiting a hospital at Pyongyang in 2013, he was seen to be smoking inside the hospital premises. Thus, there are reports which state that indulging in habits like smoking and being obese might be the reason which caused Kim such heart diseases.

For a country like North Korea that follows a horrendously strict regimen, it is quite A labouring task to acquire correct and authentic information about the happenings inside. North Korea is a master of hiding information from the outside world, so even if Kim Jong is in a dire condition, they would never let the secret out. So, as of now, we can only assume that Kim Jong is still recovering but at the same time also keep in mind the rumours, that the higher authorities are denying. Nevertheless, witnessing the lifestyle of Kim Jong Un, any common man can guess that he doesn’t have a long life ahead. Moreover, if the rumours prove to be somehow correct, then the citizens can heave a sigh of relief as they would finally be free from the subjugation of Kim Jong, the torturer.

This fishy sport began in South Australia in the small fishing community of Port Lincoln. It was inspired by the local fishermen who used to toss fish onto their trucks with force, and this eventually became a way to spice up a local festival. The tuna toss is part of an annual festival called Tunarama celebrated in January. This Australian game connects the local fishermen community.

In this reasonably self-explanatory activity, two competitors attack each other’s shins until one cries, “Sufficient!” Sounds rough, right? The sport had come a long way toward reducing injury since its inception when players used to compete with steel-toed boots. Today, only soft-toed shoes are allowed, and competitors are permitted to stuff straw into their pant legs to soften the blows. Shin kicking is among the most popular events at the annual Cotswold Olimpick Games, now in their 408th year.
