Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani reportedly got secretly engaged in 2019, they have been dating each other for a long time. The couple is often spotted together on social media.

Mukesh Ambani welcomed Anant and Radhika together sometime back at a Reliance event. Anant and Radhika’s wedding is yet to be announced by the Ambanis. However, according to sources, the two got engaged in a secret ceremony a long time back.

Those who follow the Ambanis closely know that Radhika Merchant is a part of almost all the celebrations and events that the family attends. The soon-to-be bahu, Radhika was also spotted with the Ambani family at Armaan Jain’s wedding.

Viren Merchant, CEO, and vice-chairman of Encore Healthcare is the father of Radhika. Her mother is Shaila Merchant, and she has a younger sister, Anjali Merchant. She and Anant Ambani have been friends for a long time.

Before coming back to India, Radhika Merchant studied at New York University and graduated with a degree in politics and economics. After returning to India she joined Isprava, a real-estate firm that “creates dream holiday homes for those with the finest tastes”. She joined as a sales executive in 2017.

In an interview, Radhika said that she returned to India after her graduation “to find a place where my work would matter and I could make a real contribution to the organization I would join”. She also added that her firm helped in making her transition from “student to sales executive a breeze”.

In the same interview, Radhika said that her entry into the luxury space was unplanned, she said,

“I had never given much thought to the concept of luxury while growing up. However, after joining Isprava, my idea of luxury has evolved. Earlier I was put off by the mentality behind luxury because I equated it with a large logo on a handbag or a specific pattern on a piece of fabric but after joining Isprava and understanding the brand’s idea of luxury I have learnt to appreciate it. To us, luxury is the seamless process of buying a home and a hassle-free holiday experience.”

Her hobbies include reading, swimming, and trekking. Radhika also apparently has a serious coffee addiction.

Radhika Merchant’s Bond With The Ambanis

Radhika was seen performing with Isha Ambani and Shloka Mehta at Isha’s sangeet ceremony. Radhika Merchant was an important guest at both Isha Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s wedding. Anant Ambani and Radhika performed on the song Koi Mil Gaya at the event. She was also spotted in Ambani’s group performance.

At Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s engagement party, Shah Rukh pulled Anant’s leg by asking, “Tumhari koi girlfriend nahi hai? (Don’t you have a girlfriend?),” while Radhika standing next to the actor on stage. Shah Rukh was also seen asking Anant what would he rate Radhika’s dance performance on a scale of 10, Anant’s reply was, “One million… infinity!”

Khan also pranked and checked Anant’s phone to see if Radhika’s number was there, with an intention to confirm if Anant was indeed dating Merchant. This made things more clear.

The Kashmir Files directed by Vivek Agnihotri is about to hit Rs 200 crore soon. In a short duration of just 11 days of its release, the film has already collected Rs 179.85 crore.

After its huge box office success, social media is buzzing with controversies and debates around it as it deals with the issue of exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s, While a section of the audience think the film is spreading distorted information, the others are considering it as a masterpiece that depicts the extremity of Kashmiri Pandits.

Recently, the director, Vivek Agnihotri was asked to donate all the film’s earnings to help the Kashmiri pandit families in Kashmir by Niyaz Khan, an MP & IAS officer from Madhya Pradesh.

Nana Patekar, a Bollywood actor, and filmmaker with several awards under his wing including the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor, Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor, who has also worked in some prestigious projects like Salaam Bombay, Parinda, Khamoshi: The Musical, and also received the Padma Shri award for his contribution in the field of Films and Arts, was recently asked to comment on The Kashmir Files controversy.

According to Aaj Tak, the veteran actor said,

“Hindus and Muslims very much belong here, and it is necessary for them to live together and they must live together. If division is taking place, it is wrong.”

He further added that the film may result in the division between the Hindus and Muslims which is not desirable at a time when people are living peacefully, and it is not right to court controversy with a film like The Kashmir Files.

He also went on to say that after watching the film, society will be divided into two sections which is wrong, and the makers of The Kashmir Files should be questioned.

The actor maintained throughout the conversation that “a controversy erupting over a film is not good”, However, he hasn’t yet watched the film and said that he will not be able to comment further on the content of the film.

The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi in the lead roles who also made a mark with their performances. The film has grabbed the attention of the audience in a very short time and is about to be a blockbuster.

A single viral video has made this 19-year-old, a household name overnight. The boy, Pradeep Mehra, was stunned when people chased him for selfies as he never expected that the video would make him so popular.

Pradeep Mehra gained fame by the name ‘Midnight Runner’ after filmmaker and author Vinod Kapri shot and posted his midnight run’s video on social media. The 19-year-old is employed at McDonald’s, Noida. His dream is to join the Indian Army.

Mehra’s video received a massive response on social media as soon as it was uploaded. The boy says that his life changed overnight as there are media gathered outside his house, his phone is ringing nonstop, even some top government officials want to meet him, and that he has appointments fixed with them.

Mehra is being hunted by the crowd who gather outside his workplace and is often forced to enter the fast-food outlet in Noida where he is employed from the back door to escape the crowd.

In a recent interview with HT City, he talked about his childhood, his passion for the Indian Army, and his life after his newly found stardom.

When asked about how his life changed after the viral video, he said,

It happened so suddenly…I still can’t believe it. Not even in my dreams I expected my video to go viral. People are chasing me for pictures and reels!  My world has changed overnight! People are walking up to me and asking for selfies! I feel shy

and how is he dealing with all the attention, Mehra says,

Who doesn’t like attention? But you enjoy it more when you have spare time. However, I am busy running errands, so non-stop calls are overwhelming. I am reporting late to my office because of this

The midnight runner also added,

I don’t take my mask off fearing that I will be chased by a crowd. I don’t know how to handle people. When they say, bhai Pradeep lage rehna, it does feel good, but I don’t know what to say, so I just nod

who is making sure not to take off his mask even for a second when he is outside.

When asked about his time management, he said that his brother Pankaj and cousin Govind have been taking care of his schedule and coordinating for him since the video went viral and that he is not getting any time. He is flooded with back-to-back interviews from the media. He added that at one instance while he was returning from the DM’s office, a news channel from Uttarakhand started interviewing him in the car. His phone is filled with messages but he has got no time to check and respond.

He also shared some updates about his mother’s health who has been hospitalized. He said that his mother has an infection in her blood and has been admitted to the hospital and that she hasn’t been well for a while. He updated that he visited the District Magistrate’s office and that the authorities have assured him to help with his mother’s treatment. He said that he is happy that she will get proper treatment.

He also revealed when he started running, he said,

I have been running every night for the past one month. I run from Sector-16, Noida to Barola. Due to my busy work schedule, I don’t find time to workout, so running from office to work helps me save money and keeps me fit and healthy. 

About his family, he said,

I am from Almora District, Uttarakhand. We are a small family, my mother, father, and two siblings. It has been two months since I came to Delhi.

He and his brother work in Noida to help their family. They have a single-room house in their hometown, built after much hard work and they have struggled a lot financially. They moved to Delhi to earn a decent livelihood. His father lives in Almora and suffers from mental illness.

His passion to serve the country and join The Indian Army:

It’s my passion to serve our country. I have seen many people in my village joining the Indian Army and it’s a proud moment for the family and entire village. For the last two years, there has been no recruitment in the Indian Army due to Covid. I am practising everyday so that I can join the Army. I love to watch movies based on the Indian Army. My favourite is Border (1997).  

His Education:

Pradeep couldn’t study after class 12th due to financial difficulties. He completed his schooling in his village.

His Determination:

I have faced many struggles in my life, have seen worse times but I never gave up. Aur jahan tak rahi Army ki baat, woh toh khud hi mehnat karni hogi. I have a long way to go. Now, I feel even more determined to fulfill my dream as the entire country is standing by me.

Vivek Agnihotri Perfect Reply To IAS Officer’s Request To Donate ‘The Kashmir Files’ Earnings

Since its release, Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ has been breaking the records. By the 8th day, the film crossed the Rs 100 crore mark easily. The film was made on a relatively low budget of around Rs 25 crores. The movie tells the story of the mass exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits from the valley who experienced extreme cruelty in the 1990s.

The film went through several controversies, from allegations of distortion of reality, to subtly igniting Islamophobia. The issue of helping the Kashmiri Pandits who are still suffering from the difficulties faced by the previous generations was also raised.

With the film becoming a blockbuster, the box-office collections crossed Rs 150 crores. The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, and many more. The film hit the theatres on March 11.

An MP & IAS officer from Madhya Pradesh, Niyaz Khan took to Twitter and requested that the director should donate the film’s earnings towards the construction of homes for the Kashmiri pandit families in Kashmir and for the education of their children. In his tweet, he said,

“Income of Kashmir Files reached 150 crore. Great. People have given a lot of respect for Kashmiri Brahmins’ feelings. I would respect film producer to transfer all earnings to the Brahmin children’s education and construction of homes for them in Kashmir. It will be a great charity”

Niyaz has authored seven books, that includes Be Ready to Die, on the 2014 genocide of Yazidis by the Islamic State, and Talaq Talaq Talaq (about instant Talaq).

Director Vivek Agnihotri, of ‘The Kashmir Files’, quickly responded to Khan’s tweet with a fitting reply, he requested an in-person meeting with the official in order to discuss the ideas so that both can help the cause. He wrote,

“Please give an appointment so we can meet and exchange ideas how we can help and how you can help with the royalty of your books and your power as an IAS officer.”

The Kashmir Files is based on the true story of the brutal sufferings the Kashmiri Pandits had to endure in the 1990s, during the Kashmir insurgency. The film is based on video interviews of the first generation victims of The Kashmir Genocide of Kashmiri Pandits. The narrative of the suffering, pain, struggle, and trauma of Kashmiri pandits is heart-wrenching and questions one’s beliefs and facts about democracy, humanity, religion, and politics.

During a press conference in Delhi for SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film RRR, Aamir Khan recently spoke about The Kashmir Files. The actor was present with the cast of RRR – Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ram Charan at the event, where he was asked about his views on The Kashmir Files. The actor said that he would definitely watch the film and added that every Indian should watch it as it is based on a tragic event.

When Aamir was asked if he had watched The Kashmir Files, Aamir said in Hindi,

“Ji zaroor dekhunga main. Wo ek history ka aisa hissa hai, humara dil dukta hai usme. Jo Kashmiri Pandits ke sath hua hain, wo yakeenan bahut hi dukh ki baat hai, aur aise film jo bani hain us topic pe, wo yakeenan har Hindustani ko dekhna chaiye aur har Hindustani ko yaad karna chahiye ki ek insan hai, jab us par atyachar hua to kya beet ti hai. (I will definitely watch the film. It is a part of our history which is heartbreaking. What happened with the Kashmiri Pandits is really very sad. Every Indian should watch the film made on this subject and should recall how it feels when a person goes through such trauma).”

He further added in English,

“This film has touched the emotions of all people who believe in humanity and that’s what is wonderful. I will definitely watch the film and I am so happy to see that the film is successful. I feel this is the time in India which was sad, people should look at carefully and remember.”

Viral : The Reason Behind 19-Year-Old Pradeep Mehra Midnight Run In Noida Is ‘PURE GOLD’

A video posted on social media on Sunday evening went viral within minutes and gained millions of views. In the video, a young man (19 years old) is seen sprinting down a Noida road at midnight, soaked in sweat the boy turns down the offer of the author and filmmaker Vinod Kapri to give him a ride home.

The 19-year-old boy Pradeep Mehra became an overnight internet sensation. The video of the boy sprinting was filmed by Mr. Kapri from his car when the young man was running home after his work at McDonald’s Sector 16. Pradeep Mehra purposely started running after his shift to return home and politely declined Mr. Kapri’s offer to give him a ride.

The filmmaker was impressed by the lad and he was interested to know more about him. Mr. Kapri continued his conversation while driving. The teen also revealed the reason for his 10km run in the dead of night.

When asked about why he’s running at this late hour, the boy responds, “To join the army.”

When Mr. Kapri gives the boy a suggestion to run in the morning, Mr. Mehra says that he has no time to train in the mornings as every day he has to wake up at 8 am to cook food before work.

Mehra who is originally from Uttarakhand runs a 10-km stretch daily, from his job in Noida’s Sector 16 to his home in Barola, where he lives with his older brother. When asked about his parents, he says that his mother is unwell and is currently hospitalized.

Mr. Kapri is heard telling the boy that this clip is going to go viral.

To which Mehra responds by saying, “Who’s going to recognize me?”, “If it goes viral, it’s okay, it’s not like I am doing anything wrong.”

When the boy says that he still has plans to cook after his strenuous sprint, Mr. Kapri says, “Come, have dinner with me.”

“No, but my older brother will be left hungry then,” replies Mr. Mehra, he adds that his brother can’t cook for himself at the moment and is on a night shift at work refusing the filmmaker’s help once again.

Mr. Kapri is in awe of the kid and says, “Pradeep, you’re amazing.”

When Mr. Kapri says, “Let me please drop you home,” The determined Pradeep replies, “No no, I’ll go like this, otherwise my running will get ruined. This is my everyday routine,” 

Finally, Mr. Kapri gives up and wishes the boy all the best and ends the video with a caption reading, “Pradeep’s story will inspire millions.”

Filmmaker Vinod Kapri called the boy’s reasons for politely declining a lift “pure gold.”

“The Kashmir Files“: Mehbooba Mufti claims that the Centre is “deliberately tearing them apart” rather than healing old wounds and fostering a congenial environment between the two populations.

Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Zee Studios, ‘The Kashmir Files’ has sparked massive controversies since its release. The movie depicts the diaspora of the Kashmiri Pandits from the valley in the 1990s. PM Narendra Modi stated that the film accurately represented the facts, and that history must be given in its proper context from time to time. The movie has received great encouragement from the Centre, and also got a nod from the PM when the makers met him for the promotion of the film.

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti has criticized the Indian Government, saying that the manner in which it is “aggressively promoting” Bollywood movie “The Kashmir Files” and is “weaponizing the pain of the Kashmiri pandits” reveals their actual intentions.

 

Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the Patron of the National Conference, too had something to say about the video. Abdullah was the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 1989 to 1990, when the state was placed under Governor’s control. Governor Jagmohan Malhotra was in charge of the state during the time of the migration.

“Jagmohan was the Governor at that time. He is no more, otherwise, he would have told (the reality). This is the reason I want the case to be investigated. The Union government should take urgent steps for the resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits. An honest investigation should be held to find out the culprits and why such an incident took place,” said Dr Farooq Abdullah, NC Patron.

Abdullah also urged the Union government to take immediate action to assist Kashmiri Pandits in their resettlement. Abdullah went on to say that a thorough inquiry should be conducted to determine who the perpetrators are and why such an occurrence occurred. “Every film is unique in its own way, however it is crucial that the movie depicts the true picture of an incident”, the NC chief added.

Meanwhile, the Congress has accused the BJP for not acting in favor of the Kashmiri Pandits; saying that it is reaping profits from controversies sparking around the film.

PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah met with the filmmakers, and expressed heartfelt support to the team.

PM Modi stated the people who are continuously waving the flag of free speech are agitated. Rather than analyzing the facts, a campaign is being waged to discredit them. Modi has also used the film to bash his political opponents and critics, claiming that those who oppose it tried to hide the truth about

the violence perpetrated against Hindus in what was India’s sole Muslim majority state.
Home Minister Amit Shah after meeting the film’s team tweeted “ A bold representation of truth. It will work to make the society and the country aware in this direction that such historical mistakes are not repeated. I congratulate the entire team for making this film.” ‘The Kashmir Files’ is exempted from tax in BJP-ruled states.

Anupam Kher Blasts At Kapil Sharma For Posting Half Truth About The Kashmir Files Controversy

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri claimed that Kapil Sharma refused to promote his film, The Kashmir Files on his show because it ‘lacked big stars’. The film The Kashmir Files is based on the exodus and killings of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s.

Kapil responded to the controversy by saying one shouldn’t believe in a one-sided story. But that did not stop the trolling. Some even dragged the producer, Salman Khan of the show, into the controversy and called for a boycott of The Kapil Sharma Show.

During the post-release promotion of the film on Times Now, Anupam Kher clarified that he was invited by the makers of The Kapil Sharma Show but he refused to attend the show since their film’s subject was not in sync with a comedy show.

However, it was observed that the clip that Kapil posted was only 46 seconds long when the actual clip about the controversy was actually over a minute long.

Anupam can be heard saying this in the clip posted by Kapil,

“To be very honest I must say it here I was called to be on the show. Maine Harman, jo mere manager hai, usko kaha tha ki ‘Ye film bari serious hai, main isme nahi ja sakta hun (I had told Harman, my manager, ‘This film is very serious, I can’t go on the show)’. So I want to put my point over here. It happened around two months ago that I was told ‘Aap aa jaiye (Please come)’. I have been on the show a few times and it’s a funny show. It’s very difficult to do a funny show and he does it very well. I don’t think Kapil has any malice towards us or towards the film.”

In the longer clip, Anupam mentions that the reason given to Vivek was that they weren’t invited to the comedy show because their film lacked big stars. He also mentioned it on Twitter.

Vivek also added that lacking big stars was the official reason given to him by Zee Studios, The Kashmir Files producer.

Since Kapil did not post the full clip and posted just the shorter version of it while thanking Anupam Kher for his clarification, the veteran actor responded to it by asking him to not share the “half-truth”.

Anupam Kher replied,

“Dear @KapilSharmaK9 ! I wish you had posted the full video and not the half-truth. The entire world is celebrating, you also celebrate tonight. Love and prayers always!”

No one is sure she was talking about The Kashmir Files or not, but netizens linked her tweet to the film and criticized her. The netizens think she took a dig at the film.

Amid a rising insurgency, in 1989-1990, the demographically-disadvantaged Kashmiri Pandit community living in the Valley came under threat. Lakhs of them left their homes to settle in refugee camps as violence and persecution rose.

They lived in exile for over 30 years, with the governments doing very little for their resettlement. Their cause is left and only raised in political debates.  Let us talk about Vivek Agnihotri’s film about the exodus.

There is a disclaimer that the film, set between the 1980s and present times, intends no disrespect to any community or faith.

The movie has been gaining praise from the audience and features some great actors like Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, etc. The film has been released on March 11th.

She wrote:

Finally watched Kashmir files with my mom yesterday, couldn’t write immediately, since the reality of the suffering and pain of KP which I was aware of but not in this depth hit me hard. All my mom said to me in the theatre was how on earth a human can do this to another human.

Forget all other reasons and just watch to know the suffering of humans and long injustice to them. How politics didn’t allow even to speak their stories, how our so called fighters of justice failed them because that injustice didn’t fit into their narrative.

Pain and suffering shook me to the core but for me, the masterpiece was how the movie depicted the modus operandi of the Leftist ecosystem and their desire to be seen as the messiah of the voiceless. The reality though is completely the opposite.

This movie tell stories of Kashmiri Pandits without any apologia or bringing any balance to it, it might feel like accusing all Kashmiri Muslims but when Kashmiri Muslims failed to speak for their minorities, fight for them, they as a society do become responsible. I have seen very few Kashmiri Muslims, likes of Sualeh Keen, Arshia Malik , Khalid Baig and a few others who for last 1 decade have on hundreds of occassions written about the sufferings of their once existent Hindu Minority. Sadly I have not seen even thousands of Kashmiri Muslims speak about Pandits. Many even openly mock their plight, their tragedy. Also I know the societal pressures likes of Sualeh Keen, Arshia and Khalid feel time to time for speaking about Kashmiri Pandit Victims. Hence I am skeptical of the number of Kashmiri Muslims who genuinely feel some sense of shame and sadness regarding what happened to their Hindu minority.

This movie should be watched by every Indian and those who are passionate about humanity, social justice and fairness. Not just by ‘Hindu’.

I am sorry as a fellow Indian for failing Kashmiri Pandits.
