NBC’s hit sitcom from the ’90s, FRIENDS was one of the best shows of its time, and still, it is on the binge watch list of almost every fan. Their comedy, connection, bond, struggles are just inevitable. It is just the perfect show to watch anytime, anywhere and it will instantly put you in good mood. But the best part of the show is that it not only delights fans the world over but also engages in very interesting discussions online.

The internet has given rise to a number of theories. It is created by fans who have spent countless hours rewatching the series. Some of those theories feel so logical and real that they end up ruining the show for the viewers. Let’s check out some of those theories:

1. Friends Exist In The Same Universe As Home Alone

This vision came to light in 2016 and arrives through “22 Vision”. The view of the street from inside the house Monica and Chandler move to at the end of the series is the same view in “Home Alone” as the one from inside the McCallister residence. It was noticed in the episode “The One With Princess Consuela”. From across the street, you can even spot the blue garage of Murphy’s family.

2. Friends Existed In Phoebe’s Mind

This darkest fan theory came from Twitter user @strnks. According to the user, the final scene would be Phoebe standing outside the Central Perk and seeing Rachel, Monica, Ross, Joey, and Chandler. Of course, they have different names and personalities. And, they all refer to her as “the crazy staring lady”. Since Phoebe was homeless and has no friends, she created them from scratch. When this theory was told to co-creator Marta Kauffman, she said, “That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever heard.”

3. Ross Eventually Lost Custody Of Ben

After season eight of the show, Ross’s son, Ben just disappeared. The reason for his disappearance is that Cole Sprouse aka Ben had just been cast in “The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody” alongside his twin brother Dylan. However, a user of Reddit, @smokingcage has another theory about this. According to the user, Ross lost custody of his son because of his fragile mental state and many missteps as a dad. Also, Ben was never mentioned in front of her half-sister, Emma. The weirdest thing is that it all seems logical and makes sense.

4. Gunther Always Reserved The Couch/Table

It is one of the most debatable questions of FRIENDS, that how the gang get to sit on that famous couch of Central Perk every time they went there. Well, according to a Reddit user, Theluckygal, the table was reserved for the gang by Gunther. As we all know Gunther’s crush on Rachel, so to keep a close eye on her, she did that. However, reserving a table for her and her friends, so that he could look at her all day, feels a lot creepy. This was further confirmed when a reserved sign was spotted on the table on having a close look. Now Gunther doesn’t look as great a lover as he looks, or does he?

5. Ross And Monica Were Actually Half Siblings

Judy, the mother of Ross and Monica has always given a tough time to Monica. She always criticizes her with harsh comments. However, there might be a dark secret that Judy was hiding from her and also the world. According to one fan’s theory, Monica was not the daughter of Jack Geller, but the result of Judy’s secret affair with another man. And the guilt that she has inside turned into a harsh temperament towards Monica.

6. Joey And Phoebe Were Secretly Banging

Throughout FRIENDS’ 10-season run, there have been speculations that Joey and Phoebe get together romantically. In the end, they both put the idea forward. They felt that the pair had enjoyed enough flirty moments to turn into a rather unique idea to the show’s writers. It was ultimately rejected because it would have looked weird, at least to some.

This theory came on in the episode “The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry”. In this episode, Phoebe came to know that her twin Ursula had already embarked on a career in adult films and was using her name as her own identity. Phoebe eventually gets her revenge by encashing the checks which were sent out in her name. Later, Phoebe and Rachel find themselves homeless because their apartment was blazed by fire. But what if, it was done by Ursula or her adult world associations after hearing about Phoebe stealing Ursula’s hard-earned pay?

8. Joey Is A Master Manipulator

We all are aware of Joey’s love for food. In the episode “The One With Ross’s Library Book”, it was revealed that Chandler made pancakes to help Joey dispose-off one-night stands. But Joey later decides to go for a rare second date with Erin. But in the end, they decide to break off and Rachel makes him pancakes as he was feeling blue. According to a Reddit user, Joey just wanted pancakes that is why he pretended to sleep with Erin and left her.

9. FRIENDS Is One Big Starbucks Advert

According to Radio and television presenter Alex Baker, the show is not much of a sitcom, but a clever way by Starbucks to brainwash people and make them spend time and money on all of their coffee-related products. If you have noticed, the Starbucks logo is also green as Central Perk. Also, it happens to be the surname of Rachel whose hair looks a lot like the lady in the Starbucks logo. Full of coincidences. isn’t it?

10. The Whole Show Was A Dream Rachel Had

Similarly, as suggested earlier that the whole story was in Phoebe’s dream, it could have also existed in Rachel’s dream too. According to the theories by a few fans, Rachel had an anxiety dream on the eve of her wedding to Barry. And, she created a fantasy story in her mind as an escape for herself where she could have five friends and live the life she wanted it to be. These were just some means to escape her wedding and empty life. However, when she returns back to reality, she marries Barry.

In 1994, FRIENDS was a groundbreaking show. We fell for the six friends and became involved in each of their lives. As we watched them make mistakes sitting on the edges of our seats and then their victory over it. Life is not an easy feat and these six friends showed us that time and again. There’s always something for everyone to relate to even in today’s world.

It won’t be wrong to accept that in many ways, FRIENDS was problematic. The rampant fat-shaming of Monica! The homophobia! The s-xist jokes! But in many ways, it was also way ahead of its time. The same gender Wedding, Different types of motherhood, and also parents of Chandler for instance!

In Season 1, Ross has broken a code among friends by kissing Chandler’s mother, only to be caught by Joey. Chandler’s mother had also crossed the line by playing cougar to Ross, one of her son’s closest friends. This topic was not that prominent back in the 1990s as now. But the show dared to show it on TV. Fortunately, Ross and Chandler’s mother weren’t meant to be together.

Carol, Ross’s first wife falling for another woman was one of the biggest storylines. She got married to Susan and raised Ben together. They taught Ben that love comes in all forms. Ross also has always maintained a healthy friendship with Carol and taught Ben the same. However, Ross and Susan consistently bicker about it but this was a progressive call on the part of the writers. In those times, such modern relationships were not taken well. It’s in recent times that legal status is given to such relations so taking this to TV was a really progressive move.

Rachel was in her late twenties when she left everything behind and started working as a waitress in the Central Perk. Her dream was to work closely in the fashion industry which she did achieve down the road. She started with a small fashion company and kept moving on until she got to Ralph Lauren. Her struggle is more relatable and real than ever before. It was a much-needed story in the show which still plays out as much. It teaches us that we have the potential to write our own story in this world.

10. Rachel’s Me Too Movement Moment

Rachel is interviewing for a job at Ralph Lauren in a Season 5 episode. She kisses her job interviewer mistakenly and everything goes out of control. Fortunately, she was called for the second interview which led her to believe that her interviewer thinks that she’d be willing to sleep with him to get the job. On top of it, she freaks out entirely due to ink on her lip and storms out of the office. However, she stands up for her rights, goes back, and apologizes. This shows that Rachel was ahead of the Me Too Movement. She gave women the inspiration to stand up with dignity if anything inappropriate ever occurs.

Look, this article is for the die-hard (“DIE HARRRRDDDDD!”) fans of FRIENDS. And, if you’re not one of them, then you should probably leave now. But if you are like us, then just go ahead.

It’s been more than two decades since the last episode of the iconic sitcom FRIENDS aired. But the obsession among the fans for the series is still high. They don’t just love the six main characters of the show, but everything in it. Even the props used in the show hold a special place in our hearts and that is why to mark the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the show, Warner Bros. announced the auction of a few famous props for charity.

Not all the props could hit the charity table but definitely hits our hearts, whenever we notice them. Many of us might already have some similar arrangement in our homes. And I must say, owning something close to FRIENDS is really a thing to be proud of. Today we have tried to go down memory lane and extracted a few props from the show. And we haven’t just mentioned the name but the props mentioned here have a story associated with them. The story in itself might be hilarious at times. So let’s dive into the list of some famous props used in FRIENDS which helped to make the episodes hilariously memorable. Let’s check out:

1. The Jouets Poster

Rachel Green and Monica Geller’s shared apartment was painted in purple, and the living-room walls were usually broken up with artworks. It was done to make sure that the apartment’s purple paint wouldn’t overwhelm TV viewers. You might have noticed that a poster was used to fill up space between the television and 1930s buffet. In an interview, Mr. Grande said, “I was scrambling, so I picked out this image of a French vintage carnival poster from one of my research books and had it blown up. It fit the apartment’s feminine, eclectic style, and it was believable for Monica(who is a chef) because it was a good design on a budget.”

2. The Boys’ Recliners

Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing favored an unapologetically bachelor-pad vibe with their hulking leather recliners. Mr. Grande admitted, “I looked for the most obnoxious ones I could find.” And, Mr. Shaffner said, “Those chairs were about one thing: comfort and where to put your beer.”

3. Central Perk’s Sofa

This early-1900s tufted-mohair sofa with burnt-orange color salvaged from a collection of Burbank’s Warner Bros. Studios. Mr. Shaffner noted that the sofa’s design encouraged a comfortable and home-away-from-home posture. Mr. Grande said. “We went with repurposed, old-school pieces and a palette of rich earth tones.” It was the go-to haunt that had to be cozy for the gang but different from the apartment sets.

4. The Peephole Frame

Rachel Green and Monica Geller’s front door was an unadorned slab issue for NYC rentals. Mr. Grande recalled, “I’d bought this yellowish-gold papier-mâché picture frame at a craft fair intending to use it on a side table, but the glass broke. I took the backing off and tried it over the peephole.” Mr. Shaffner added, “I took one look and said, ‘Glue it on!”

5. The Apothecary Table

Rachel moved in with Phoebe Buffay in Season 6. She was trying to pass off a Pottery Barn table to her counterculture roomie as an antique. The fib flew and thanks to the item’s apothecary drawers, brass hardware, and mahogany finish until Phoebe discovered Ross Geller owned the very same one. The not-so-subtle product placement had an amazing effect. The table was purchased by the fans in droves that Pottery Barn reissued.

6. Pat the Dog

For Joey, success looks like this molded-plastic greyhound statue. After getting his first big break of a recurring role on “Days of Our Lives”, he walked out on a flashy new apartment. Referencing the character’s heritage, Mr. Grande said, “The only note I got was ‘Give it a little Italian flair.’ I went to a store called Italy 2000 and saw this dog. It had a seventies flavor and was too funny.” Rearing its canine head in numerous episodes, the piece took on a life of its own. Mr. Grande can be spotted playing a mover wheeling it out on the series finale.

7. The Boys’ Laurel and Hardy Poster

Isn’t it bromantic? Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbianni’s brown-and-beige lair was intentionally left under-decorated. Mr. Grande said. “We wanted it to look a little barren and like they didn’t really care. Still, we had to fill the walls with something.” This black-and-white poster of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, entertainers of early-20th-century unframed and haphazardly taped up that fit the set perfectly. Moreover, the late comedians’ popularly in a codependent relationship that cleverly echoed the boys’ own buddy dynamic. Mr. Shaffner said, “Part of Joey and Chandler’s charm was that, in their own way, they were a couple.”

Phoebe is quite the artist. She created her own three-dimensional Gladys herself. Gladys is a short-haired woman whose half head tilted out of the frame. She doesn’t have a left hand and is dressed in blue. However, Phoebe had to clear out a bunch of her stuff when Mike moved in to make space for him including Gladys. It was a piece so hideous that Rachel and Monica actually fought over who has to take possession of it. Finally, it landed at Monica’s place. It was just included in the show for fun but it became so successful that Pottery Barn recreated it.

9. Rachel’s Dirty Book

The ‘dirty book’ Joey finds in Rachel’s bedroom seems to be a prop rather than a genuine book in FREINDS. And, Rachel’s love for adult literature was previously referenced in “The One With Mrs. Bing”. So, to spice that up Rachel’s dirty books were added to the show. Rachel comes in for a lot of clowning from Joey when he discovers that she had an erotic book. We can’t be the only ones thinking about its narrative arc, can we?

10. The Hugsy

Hugsy was originally mentioned accidentally by Joey in the episode “The One Where Everybody Finds Out” as his “bedtime penguin pal”. It is at that moment that he tells Rachel how he stole Hugsy from a child, and also swallowed his button years back. Later, Hugsy is on the chair beneath the dartboard in the episode “The One With Ross’s Teeth” when Chandler and Joey talk at the beginning of the episode. Not just that, we noticed it in several other episodes as well. It was a fun addition done by Mr. Grande.

Meanwhile, all the six main characters of the FRIENDS are set for the reunion special. It will finally bring them back together on the NBC comedy’s original soundstage. Lisa Kudrow aka our favorite Phoebe Buffay recently confirmed the long-awaited FRIENDS reunion show has now started shooting. This extra-special program was due to air last year. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, it had to be pushed back. However, Matthew also told fans on Twitter that the reunion is scheduled to be premiered at the beginning of March.

Maheep Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor’s daughter, Shanaya Kapoor is all set to make her debut in acting with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. She was last seen in “Fabulous lives of Bollywood wives” which were premiered on Netflix. She also worked as an assistant director in “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl”.

Shanaya Kapoor is launched by Karan Johar through his talent management company Dharma Cornerstone Agency(DCA). She will kickstart shooting for her debut film in July this year. Karan took to Instagram and officially introduced Shanaya to the world ahead of her photoshoot and wrote, “With her unabashed enthusiasm, resilience & sparkle – @shanayakapoor02 is all set to take over your screens soon. 15 Friends Characters Who Deserved More Screen Time

While observing the popular show FRIENDS, we notice that the show succeeds because of the close bond between the six characters and the storyline that revolves around them. Sure, they faced conflicts with one another but, they chose to rise above it and made their bond come out even stronger. However, the six friends in FRIENDS was a pretty close group and always stayed in focus. Besides them, there were some other characters who deserved more screen time in the show than they were given.

Today we gave it a thought and picked a few characters who should have got a few more shots in the show. They were either interesting, or their story was left incomplete, but whatever be the reason they deserved more screen time but unfortunately, they couldn’t get it. So here is the list of 15 characters who deserve more screen time in the show. Let’s check it out:

1. Janice

Oh my god!! Janice is one of the most entertaining and beloved characters of the show. She appeared multiple times a season and viewers were always delighted(or disgusted) to see her. Her ongoing and off going relationship with Chandler kept her intact throughout the show. There were hardly any moments when Janice felt like an unnecessary addition to any episode. It would have been good to have her around more often, as she was never short of being hysterical.

2. Frank Buffay Junior

Frank was hilarious in his short time on the series. It would have been fun to watch him in a larger role or at least if we could see more of his story that would have been great. Even Phoebe would have enjoyed it, as he was her only family who wanted to be around. Phoebe and Frank’s relationship wasn’t like a typical brother-sister thing but their bond was even more intense than that. They helped each other in a way that most relatives won’t do but it meant a lot to show how much they cared for each other. In the series, we saw him follow his love life and gradually having a family of his own. But didn’t get to see that family grow and flourish. Even we didn’t get to see how Phoebe adjusted in Frank’s new family so we would have loved to more of Frank in FRIENDS.

3. David

David’s appearances are few, to be precise, he only gets to be in five episodes. He is probably the first man or the only man Phoebe was badly serious about. They had a bond that seemed like magic and would last really long. But quickly after his introduction, he leaves for Minsk thus leaving behind the spark they had. Meanwhile, Phoebe comes across many relationships and forgets about David completely. However, when out of nowhere David comes back, the strong chemistry rekindles. Unfortunately, his absence for so long makes it difficult for them to stay together. It would have been nice to see more of David and his weirdness. Phoebe and David would have been a nice couple if not for life, but at least for a while longer.

4. Charlie Wheeler

Charlie Wheeler came in as Ross’s colleague who later indulged in a relationship with Joey. She was the catalyst for an awkward love scenario among Ross, Rachel, Joey, and Charlie which was fun in itself. Since this character brought in huge fun and changes in everyone’s life, more of her in the show would not have hurt us at all. Her time in FRIENDS came to an abrupt end, in the episode “The One With Ross’s Grant”. While helping Ross receive a grant from her ex-boyfriend, Benjamin, she fell for those old lost feelings for him and that was the end of a really great character. Charlie had massive potential to grow as a character even if she continued to be a colleague. Just imagine the awkwardness when she comes across Ross at work and how Ross would have reacted to her. But sadly, the writers decided not to continue her in the show.

5. Will

Will was Ross’s best friend from high school. They also made the “I hate Rachel” club just to hate Rachel. It would have been wonderful to carry forward their friendship and continued the awkward Hate Rachel Club. We surely know Ross would not be a part of it anymore but seeing him stuck between an old friend and the “love of his life” would have been fun. But that didn’t happen. Bradd just gave a guest appearance in the show and so we can’t expect more of him but anyways it would have been fun. However, he was hilarious in the thanksgiving episode.

6. Julie

Julie came into Ross’s life at the worst possible moment on the show. That time could have marked the beginning of Ross and Rachel’s romantic story. So a sad moment for the Ross-Rachel club out there. However, she was a cute and really understanding person. In fact, she was the first character who became friends with everybody in the group immediately except Rachel, for obvious reasons. Based on the amount of screen time she got, she had the potential to be a more rounded character in the show.

7. Carol And Susan

Carol and Susan have one of the most amazing and progressive relationships in the series. However, they disappeared in the last few seasons. They were not shown much as the main characters, but they were indeed an important part of Ross’s story. Being Ben’s Parents, the possible storylines were many, but they fell behind with no proper explanation.

8. Emily Waltham

At the beginning of Ross and Emily’s relationship, she was a happy and understanding woman which lead to their wedding in London. However, things changed completely after Ross said Rachel’s name at the altar. In the later episodes, her possessiveness and ultimatums for him became unreasonable. With every passing episode, Emily turned into the paranoid villain and Ross, the victim of his own mistake in the show. The closure she received did not feel right for her and so it would have been nice to see her a little more where she could gain back her respect on the show. The reason behind the rapid change in her character is also because, in real life, she became pregnant during the filming of the show and so couldn’t continue playing Emily, else things might have ended differently.

9. Dina

It would have been great to see Dina’s story because it turned out to be the most complicated than anyone else in the show. Moreover, she being the youngest, might have benefitted a lot from the group’s guidance towards a better life. And seeing the group acting like adults(which means being an idol to someone) would have been fun too. She was already in a place that was quite not good and seeing her come back and managing things for good would have been a nice experience. Since Joey was her brother, it would have been odd to see more of her getting indulged with the group.

10. Ben

Ben was a huge deal while Carol was pregnant and even after that. He was Ross’s first child and we know the first one always gets more attention in a family. But in the show, Ben disappears soon after Emma was born. We saw him bond with Ross and the group during the holiday celebrations but when Emma came in, everyone seemed to forget about him. At some point, it seemed unfair! They could have utilized his character differently. Having Ben around in the show could have been a growing experience for the FRIEND’s group. At least Ben deserved a few scenes with his cousin, Emma but sadly that didn’t happen. Don’t you agree that Ben should have got more screentime?

11. Kathy

Chandler was quite afraid when he realized his liking for Kathy, Joey’s girlfriend. Although Chandler tries to shake his feelings for Kathy away, but the feeling found their way in again and again. Things got so intense that Kathy broke up with Joey to take things with Chandler to the next level. Even Joey gave them his blessings but sadly they didn’t last long. The unstability in her character was bad and at some point it feels like she could have been better. Also, Chandler became quite possessive and suspicious almost like Emily which later turned out to be true.

12. Gunther

Gunther, who runs the famous Central Perk coffee shop was there throughout the series. He was never a part of the gang but he was surely the follower of their adventures. Gunther definitely deserved more active time on screen. Maybe getting involved with Rachel eve for quite a while would have been interesting.

13. Eddie

Eddie was Chandler’s new roommate after Joey left him alone. His wicked temper and unstable mind made Chandler quite uncomfortable while they were roommates. However, keeping him for a longer period would have been amazing because he was hysterical. The craziness he brought in was unmatchable and we would not have been bored with his stupidity at all.

14. Richard

Richard was a family friend of the Gellers who later became Monica’s boyfriend. They both were in a serious relationship but eventually broke up mutually. He definitely was a character that could have had a larger story than just being Monica’s partner. Moreover, his character was quite intriguing. Though the relationship between Richard and Monica ended, he could have been a powerful addition to the show if allowed to continue.

15. Ursula

Ursula, the twin sister of Phoebe appeared several times until the eighth season. She balanced Phoebe’s whimsy persona by having an uncaring attitude. At times, her actions were quite surprising and even more weird than Phoebe’s. Ursula was a fun character to keep around, especially when she was treated as a villain. It might have been fun to show more of her and at several other occassions.

“We Were On A Break!”

The “we were on a break” argument is a huge part of the show. It’s something about which spoken about a lot throughout the series. However, things calm down, after the initial moment and following episodes, that is until it comes to “The One With Ross’ Wedding, Part Two.”

Rachel begins ranting when she is on her way alone and starts telling the classic Rachel and Ross story to her neighbouring passenger. And the neighbouring passenger was none other than Hugh Laurie. It all ends with him stating that it seems like they were actually on a break, which is hilarious.

The Phalange

The word “phalange” might not mean anything to normal people, but for FRIENDS fans, it is huge. Throughout the series, Phoebe mentions it a few times, often using it as a fake name when she wants or needs to pretend to be someone else.

When Phoebe and Ross desperately try to stop Rachel from going to Paris, Phoebe pretends that the “phalange” is a part of the plane. And forcing everyone off by saying there is something wrong with it. These are usually throwaway jokes, but then it all comes around in the final episode.

Sudha Murty, Infosys chairperson, teacher, and the author has always preached about the virtues of equality and simplicity. She is the person who has not just practiced it but also raised her children with the same ideals.

She visited the Jamnabai Narsee Campus in Mumbai in 2017 for an interaction session with the students. There she gave insightful responses to their questions. And while doing that she gave a piece of insightful advice which was also a shining example of parenting done right.

She gave the example of her own son. When he was young, he wanted to have a birthday party in a five-star hotel. However, she did not give him permission for it.

She made her son understand the value of money. She said that the amount he would spend on a luxurious party could help to provide food and better education to a lot of impoverished children including the children of her own driver.

She repeated the same discussion when her children when they turned into teenagers. She taught them the importance of hard work, equality, and hard-earned money.

Her son always remembered her teachings when he was studying at Cornell and told her that he was proud of the way she had raised him.

Because he understood the importance of being sensitive and sharing wealth to the needs of those less fortunate than you, he even contributed a nominal amount that he won in a scholarship with the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the parliament attack in 2001.

Since Bumrah’s family are Punjabis by origin who are settled in Gujarat, the two were seen in a Punjabi-style wedding in the picture. Fans started showering them with love and blessing as soon as the picture was out. Many of the cricketers along with sports journalists and BCCI and ICC also wished the newlywed couple. However, Mayank Agarwal’s mistake takes the cake.

2. The Writing On the Magna Doodle Changed

The writing on Magna doodle at Chandler and Joey’s apartment kept changing across the cuts. At first, when Joey was complaining about staying up all night before a sleep clinic, “Get Out” was written on it. However, it changed to “Poop” when Chandler talked about how he cannot dance at weddings and Ross walked in while Chandler was showing Rachel and Joey how he danced. Perhaps it changed to reflect what politeness forbids them telling Ross.

3. Paper Towels Rolled And Unrolled

In season 1 episode 12, Phoebe told Rachel Paolo made a pass at her. Rachel was upset and grabbed a paper towel which was hanging as a roll in the kitchen. However, she pulled the roll with her, instead of just tearing one-off, sqo it stretched across the kitchen. Rachel then sat at the table holding the paper towel and wondering how she didn’t see it. Meanwhile, the paper towels in the kitchen went from being unrolled to rolled behind her. Watch it closely!

4. Joey Changed Shirts On-Screen

Joey spotted an attractive girl from Monica’s apartment. At times he was wearing a black shirt. He then went across the building of the girl to find her out and he was wearing a purple shirt. Why not? He could have stopped to change his shirt. However, when Ross opens the door, magically he was wearing a black shirt again. More evidence for Joey the Magician theory. 5. The Disappearing Table

Rachel was watching Marcel when he ran away in season 1 episode 19. As she told Ross what happened, fans saw that there was a picture hanging near the front door, under which there was a table. However, when animal control showed up, Rachel let the woman into the apartment. You could see the picture near the door but not the table under it. How did it disappear in such a short period of time?

6. The Moving Mugs

In season 2 episode 4, Rachel was clearing mugs from the coffee shop when Ross asked for advice about his relationship. The red mug on the tray was closest to him when he sat down in the chair. However, the mugs changed positions on the counter as Rachel gave him advice. The green and red mugs switched places as Rachel advised Ross to wait to get intimate with Julie. Well, if you want to notice the error in the video, then watch closely when it reaches 2 min 15 sec.

7. A Visible Set

Richard was playing foosball with Joey and Chandler in their apartment in season 2 episode 20. You could see the door behind him and over his right shoulder. It implies that the apartment should have continued to his left. However, as the camera moved as he asked, “could that shot be any prettier?” it made obvious that it was a set. That was the part of the apartment you might never saw because obviously it was never built.

8. The Disappearing Necklace

Rachel was wearing a necklace when she spoke to Monica, Chandler, and Joey about Ross and Julie. But it got disappeared when Ross and Julie announce that they are getting a cat together. However, it re-appeared when Rachel continued to question about them getting a pet. The necklace kept disappearing and reappearing across the cuts in the episode.

9. The Stain Changed Sizes

In season 3 episode 2, while everyone was getting ready for Ross’ event, Phoebe got hummus on her dress. And, the stain changed sizes throughout the episode. It sometimes looked like she cleaned off the hummus. However, it then showed up back to the giant stain when it first happened immediately after. And then it stayed there until Phoebe put a giant Christmas ribbon in an attempt to cover it.

10. The Drinks In Joey’s Hand Changed From Bottles To Cans

In this scene, Joey was raiding Monica and Chandler’s apartment to get something to drink for an audition. However, there was a glimpse of a stand-in along with bottles changing to cans in Joey’s hands. Perhaps Joey had a talent of a magician which he never discovered.

11. The Door Went From Open To Shut

In season 3 episode 13, Richard and Monica pretended they could just be friends and she helped him cook. As they squished tomatoes in a bowl, Monica and Rachel’s bedroom doors were both wide open but suddenly Monica’s door was closed when they both realized they were in each other’s personal space.

12. The Wedding Present That Unwrapped And Rewrapped Itself

In the episode, Monica, Phoebe, and Rachel were discussing Rachel’s pregnancy and the father’s identity. As they did, the wrapping paper from Monica’s wedding appeared and disappeared from the box. Monica kept going from being about to rip the paper off the box to sitting in front of a plain brown box. It kept changing throughout the scene, including when Joey joined them in the apartment.

13. The Suits Switched Hands

Ross had a TV appearance in season 3 episode 21 and didn’t know which suit to wear. He showed his two options to Joey and Chandler. He held the blue one in his left and the brown in his right when he took the suits out of the carrying bag and tucked the bag under his right arm. However, before the scene ended, the brown suit was in his left hand and the blue one was in his right and holding the bag behind it.

14. The Guitar Disappeared

In season 4 episode 7, Ross offered Phoebe musical advice while she played the guitar. She was holding her guitar while he spoke about his musical history and finding his “sound”. However, her guitar was gone suddenly as she encouraged him to play. He protested briefly but then agreed and Phoebe was once again holding her guitar.

15. The Glass Emptied And Filled Itself

In season 4 episode 14, Monica poured herself nearly a full glass of orange juice. She put it down to feel Phoebe’s baby kicking. The glass was closer to half full by then. However, more juice was added to the glass as she asked Rachel how her date with Joshua went. And again, the glass was less than half full when Rachel said she didn’t see Joshua.

16. A Sock Appeared On Monica’s Hand As She Knocked On Her Door

In season 5 episode 2, Rachel asked Monica to make decisions about her love life. However, Rachel locked her out when Monica didn’t want her to tell Ross about her feelings towards him. Later, Ross was the one who opened the door. There was suddenly a sock on her right hand which is raised to knock again. However, she’d been hitting the door still bare-handed just before that.

17. 3D Glasses Disappeared From Phoebe’s Hand

In season 5 episode 13, Phoebe’s grandmother’s funeral happened. She held several pairs of 3D glasses in her both hands when the others joined Phoebe. She gave one to the man who named himself Frank Buffay. The gang joined her as she realized who he was. The glasses in her right hand were gone as she told them the man was her father.

18. On Which Side Was The Firefighter Holding His Helmet?

In season 6 episode 18, there was a fire in Phoebe and Rachel’s apartment. Joey, Chandler, and Monica went with them to see the damage. They spoke with the firefighter who held his helmet with his right hand. However, the helmet was under his left arm when the camera focused on him again.

19. A Water Bottle Disappeared From And Reappeared In Ross’ Hand

In season 6 episode 18, Ross was holding a water bottle while Chandler and Joey spoke about a favor. Ross drank from the bottle and was visibly holding it during their conversation. Later, Ross realizes that they were talking about someone else. However, the water bottle suddenly disappeared from his hand when he realized it. Then, Ross was holding the water bottle again as Monica interjected in the conversation.

20. What Happened To The Cheap Wedding Dress?

In season 7 episode 17, Monica found a wedding dress she loved but it was too expensive. To get the dress on sale, she fought another bride-to-be. It was a little bit different from the original dress. The other woman stole the wedding band Chandler and Monica was going to get. Monica decided to give up the dress but before that, she showed it to Chandler since it wouldn’t be bad luck for him to see it. However, she was wearing a different dress at that time from the one she picked out at the sale.

10 Pop Culture References From FRIENDS, Today’s Fans Won’t Understand

The first episode of FRIENDS aired almost 30 years ago, but the references and classic one-liners still live on inside all of us. Every day new fans are coming up and the show’s 10 seasons gaining more and more views on streaming platforms.

However, the most frightening thing to think about for old FRIENS fans from the TV age is that new watchers might not be able to fully appreciate all the pop culture references that the show offered. They used to navigate their way through some great character storylines. With classic novels and movies, winks to musical icons, once new fans are done with watching FRIENDS, some of them probably have a whole list of newly discovered books, movies, and music to listen to. But will they understand all of them? Or will they even try to decipher them?

Well, if you are one of the new fans then don’t get psyched because here we have a few references to help you with. I’m sure you will enjoy reading these.

Ground Control To Major Tom

In Season 5 Episode 19, “The One Where Ross Can’t Flirt,” Joey lands a role on the hit show – Law & Order. But his part was cut in the final show. To keep his honour in front of his grandmother, he had to come up with an idea. Joey films a self-made video in his apartment and played the same for his grandmother.

Well, Joey’s grandmother believed his fake video, but suddenly it cuts to a shot of Chandler singing the famous song by David Bowie, “Space Oddity”. There is a possibility that new fans might have heard the song before, but this was a much more famous reference when the episode originally aired in 1999.

Happy Days

Phoebe gives birth to her brother Frank’s twins in Season 5 Episode 3, “The One Hundredth” and is accompanied by a doctor who is obsessed with the TV show – Happy Days and every five minutes references “The Fonz”. The episode did give audiences some amazing laughs, however, newer fans might not be as aware of “Happy Days” as viewers of the original TV series.

The character “Fonzie” or “The Fonz” was also named Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli. It was a fictional character which was played by Henry Winkler, in Happy Days which aired from 1974 to 1984. Originally he was a secondary character but his popularity grew so immensely that he had to be positioned as a lead character. No surprise, why Phoebe’s doctor was so obsessed with ‘Fonzie’.

Frankie Say RELAX

Ross tries to help Rachel move-on in Season 3 Episode 19, “The One With The Tiny T-Shirt” by taking back all of her belongings from her apartment. Those belongings included one of his T-shirt with the words “Frankie Say RELAX”. As mentioned in the show, Rachel liked to sleep in that Tshirt but do you know the origin of those words?

Many new fans might not know that this is a reference to the song “Relax” by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. This song was released in 1984 and might not feature on the latest Spotify charts.

Princess Leia And The Gold Bikini

Rachel makes Ross’s fantasy come real in Season 3 Episode 1, which was appropriately titled ‘The One With The Princess Leia Fantasy”. In the episode, we saw Rachel wear the costume worn by Carrie Fisher in “Return of The Jedi”.

Of course, most people must have seen the original “Star Wars” trilogy or are at least know Princess Leia from the movie. However, for the new fans who haven’t seen the trilogy, you are missing out on a classic reference!

The Easy-Bake Oven

Ross and Monica found out that their parents were selling their childhood home in Season 7 Episode 13, “The One Where Rosita Dies”. They go to have a look at their old childhood toys and among them, we could notice one of Monica’s Easy-Bake Oven. We know she would attempt to bake a lot of cookies in that oven, even if they were slightly undercooked.

The Easy-Bake Oven was a popular toy for many kids while growing up around the same time as Monica. However, in 2011, the product was discontinued by Hasbro after a new law banned the heating element that was used to bake the food inside the oven. You might be surprised to know that the oven used incandescent light bulbs to bake things inside it and that made it special. This is the same reason why we think Monica made undercooked cookies in it, but we never questioned her skills!

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

Emily convinced Ross to get his ear pierced in Season 4 Episode 19, “The One With All The Haste” but Chandler and Joey made fun of him because of it. Now, Chandler couldn’t resist but cracked a joke saying that the 80s pop group, “Wham! broke up”.

Well, Chandler said the line in reference to the split in Wham! in the year 1986. With the earring on, Ross looked like George Michael from Wham! (pop duo), at least to Chandler. Adding more insult, and as a reference to the 1984 song, Chandler makes one more Wham! joke by saying “Just remember wake us up before you go-go!”.

Zima For The Party

Ross had to make a tough decision in Season 4 Episode 22, “The One With The Worst Best Man Ever” when he had to select his best man, Chandler or Joey. He decides to ask Joey, who back then threw him a bachelorette party. But unfortunately, Ross’s lost his ring at that same party.

For the party, Joey suggests that they should bring a “six-pack of Zima”, a lightly carbonated alcoholic beverage. It was essentially the “Smirnoff Ice” of the 90s and would have been in the hands of any 90s party-goer. However, even back then, it was often made fun of.

The Unbearable Lightness Of Being

Here is some proof that Joey might really be a cultural genius. After the gang struggles to guess Monica’s very obvious drawing of “Bye Bye Birdie” in Season 1 Episode 18, “The One With All The Poker”, Rachel draws a bean, to which Joey immediately replies “The Unbearable Lightness of Being,” a novel by Milan Kundera.

Since the novel was released in 1984, probably many new FRIENDS fans might not be aware of it. However, it is highly applauded and also an acclaimed movie starring Juliette Binoche and Daniel Day-Lewis.

Buffay The Vampire Layer

The gang sees Phoebe on the cover of an adult film in Season 6 Episode 14, “The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry” but it turns out that it is her sister, Ursula. This reference is potentially more famous than the previous ones, but only if newer fans have seen “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, the TV show, and the film from the 90s. It’s an American TV series whose creators was Joss Whedon and it aired from 1997–2003. The real-world movie is obviously not an adult entertainer

Lawrence Of A Labia

Again in Season 6 Episode 14, “The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry”, the gang mistake as one of Phoebe’s hidden ventures is “Lawrence Of A Labia”. But, it was Ursula’s film. This title is in reference to the critically acclaimed yet classic movie, Lawrence of Arabia, from 1962, starring Peter O’Toole.

There have been rumours around that the movie might have a remake starring Dwayne Johnson, where the director would be, Michael Bay. So in that case, there is still a possibility for newer fans to be experience this storyline and understand the reference.
