We all love FRIENDS, but while watching the show, we might have felt it already that some of the jokes aren’t appropriate for today. The show was written back in 1994, and the script evidently gives us the vibes. The viewers and society as a whole have evolved a lot since 1994. We are now more informed and more aware than ever before. Our lifestyle has changed a lot since then and that has forced us to see things differently.

FRIENDS is adding new viewers every day, but that doesn’t mean they are modern in everything they did. Though we laugh hard at the jokes, still some of them might feel offensive at times in today’s world. Here we have listed a few jokes that viewers would not have excused if the show comes out today. The writers got through without any problems because back then the viewers had a different mindset. Today the show has fans, but critics too can’t stay behind. So let’s have a look at some jokes from FRIENDS that would not have stood a chance in today’s world. In fact, these humorous scenes, gags or jokes would be considered too touchy, offensive or just out of place in today’s world.

#1 One Where Joey And Chandler Can’t Handle Breastfeeding

This episode in Friends aired in 1995 and clearly, the social dialogue about breastfeeding was not as advanced to where it is today. In the scene, we noticed Joey and Chandler making a great deal about Carol feeding the baby just beside them on the couch. They were visibly not ok with the moment and did not have the maturity to handle it well.

For ages, women had to cover themselves and breastfeed in private but that’s no longer the case. Today we know and recognize that forcing ladies to cover up while feeding is definitely not ok. So the reaction by Joey and Chandler would have been too exaggerated if it was shot in today’s world.

#2 Mocking A Recovering Alcoholic

Adding a plot to show alcoholism seemed indeed progressive when the writers added it in season 2 in the ’90s. But if shot in today’s environment, the scenes would have been totally different.

We saw Monica dating a guy whom the gang called Fun Bobby, but they soon realized that he is fun only when he is drinking heavily. He later is seen to be ridiculously dull after he tries to be sober. To stay with him, Monica takes up drinking but she eventually gets dumped because of the newly developed habit. The storyline kind of mocked the alcoholism when people were shown to leave them or laugh at the people suffering from such problems. The worse came in when the gang instead of supporting, mocked Booby while he was trying to leave behind his habits.

#3 Ross Being Possessive And Jealous

While watching and rewatching the show, many fans might have felt that Ross often disrespected women with his jealousy and possessive nature. Ross is a nice guy but his beliefs and expectations were too high from his partner and sometimes you can’t deny that it is not at all charming.

He is often seen trying to ruin her relationships and prey on her while she is emotionally vulnerable. He is often possessive and extremely jealous in all his relationships. Even his first break up with Rachel was because of his jealousy. So you can think for yourself will it be normal to see anyone so possessive in a show today?

#4 One Where Monica’s Character Was Questioned

In the first episode, we saw Monica sleeping with a guy on her first date night. The creators had a great doubt about whether people would like it or not. She was once confronted by Richard to reveal the number of guys she has been with. Though not loud, Richard was quite concerned about the numbers and might have acted weird if it was too high. Somehow it signaled that Monica as a girl needs to keep a check on the numbers.

However, the show featured Joey as a guy who had uncountable affairs and often forgot the names of the girls after sleeping with them. But no one seemed to give a thought to it. Wasn’t that injustice girls?

#5 One Where Phoebe Was Assaulted By Paolo

Paolo came in unexpectedly in everyone’s life and everything was going fine until Phoebe had a weird encounter while giving him a massage. But the way it was shown wasn’t real enough for today’s world. Phoebe disclosed the incident to the group by saying, “He made a move on me.” While we could clearly figure out how the turn of events was and needed more attention because Paolo was assaulting Phoebe at her workplace.

Hopefully, today’s generation understands the depth of such incidents and it would not have been treated so lightly. Since the show came out in the 1990s so the creators got a green flag else in today’s world it would not have received some serious backlash.

#6 Making Fun Of Carol & Susan

We can’t ignore the fact that FRIENDS was way too ahead of time to have included the couple in their storyline. But the jokes played on them on occasions were not too funny. Even Ross had to face the heat from his friends because his wife left him for another woman. The jokes went way too much because it gave us the feeling that Ross would have been better off if Carol would have left him for any other reason.

In today’s world where we are so progressive and acceptable to modern society, the dialogues and scenes from the show would have been problematic.

#7 One Where Ross Won’t Let Ben Play With Dolls

The guys in Friends seemed to have some problems with their masculinity but none is so obvious about it as Ross. When his son Ben was a toddler and chose Barbie as his favorite toy, Ross couldn’t get over it. He tried everything in his power to ensure that Ben takes in some masculine toy rather than Barbie.

Also, in a later scene, we saw Ross refusing to hire a male Nanny for Emma because he is male. He even asks for his partner’s preferences just because he was doing the job of a nanny. And such behavior is definitely not ok in today’s world. The scene looked awkward already but if you watch it now it looks insulting as well.

#8 One With All The Homophobia

FRIENDS is about friendship and the guys are not shy to show their affection for each other except for the time when they decide the hug is going too long or have an emotional moment. But at many moments the guys were ridiculed or shamed for doing something that is not traditionally masculine. Example: holding a bag or wearing a bracelet.

If the show was made today then no one would waste time acting like their bromances were insignificant.

#9 The One With All The Fat Shaming

The modern audience goes totally paranoid when it comes to jokes on Monica’s treatment when she was fat. We saw many moments when Monica had to bear comments because of her weight. She was reduced to a moment where she planned to lose weight and give in to the social standards of beauty.

In today’s world, we can never accept such jokes because they are simply not appropriate. Just because the show was created back in time, the scenes are continuing.

#10 One Where Everyone Was Transphobic

There are a lot of storylines in FRIENDS that people are wild upon now that they have a little perspective. But none is more offensive than the one involving Chandler’s biological father. He was a transgender woman in the show and her gender identity is mislabeled and turned into a punchline time and time again.

In the show, Chandler treats his dad like an embarrassment and makes no effort to accept the life she has chosen to live. Now that we have come such a long way where Trans rights are more supportive than the time when Friends was on the air, it makes the scenes very difficult to watch.

We know there are flaws in the show but we are not blaming anyone here. The show came up in 1995 and is brilliant considering the time back then. In fact, it was quite progressive and ahead of its time. We love the show and would watch it again and again for the entire lifetime.

Today, it’s been around 26 years since the shoot for FRIENDS was over and 26 years is a very long time. It’s not easy to stay friends with people for so long if you are out of sight. Considering the busy schedules of the six friends, it’s evident they hardly get time to catch up with each other. Maybe they get a chance to do it in batches, but spotting the whole group together is rare. So does it mean they aren’t as close as we think they are?

The same question popped up back in 2015 when Jennifer Aniston got married to Just Theroux. We all know and believe that marriage is a crucial milestone in everyone’s life. On such occasions, we always tend to invite our family and friends to celebrate with us. But it was surprising to note that on Jennifer Aniston’s wedding, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer were missing! Before you start making guesses, their absence was not because of a busy schedule. So did Jennifer not consider them as friends? Is the FRIENDS group falling apart?

In a TV Critics press event that took place in LA, Matt LeBlanc got questions about Jennifer’s wedding, and he revealed to everyone that, “I think they’re a great couple. I think she’s happy. And that’s all I care about is that Jen’s happy,
“If she wanted me there, I would have been there.”

So the statement by Matt clearly states that Jennifer did not invite him to her wedding. And that’s quite a surprising thing for us because we always believed they were great friends.

Matthew Perry too commented, and his reply was clear but without grudges:
“I wasn’t invited. So what can you do?
“It was a surprise to me as well. They’re a lovely couple, and I’m happy for them.”

So what can we conclude from these events? Did Jennifer not consider the guys from FRIENDS worthy enough to attend her wedding? People have wanted to know the reason for 5 years now, but there isn’t much official statement by Jennifer to give light on her estranged relationship with the boys.

If we believe Joey or Matt LeBlanc then he is quite cool about Jennifer not inviting him. Also, he insists that Friends stars are like family.
He told the People US:

“Jen’s like my little sister. Courteney [Cox] and Lisa [Kudrow] are like my big sisters, but Jen’s like my little sister. Matthew’s like my little brother, and David [Schwimmer]’s like my big brother. That’s how it all broke down. And it’s literally just like chronological.”

So why Jennifer did not invite them?

Jennifer’s wedding was at their mansion in Bel Air. And as it turns out, the wedding was totally exclusive, which had only 70 guests involved. Yes, 70 is a small number considering an event like a wedding, but that is what the couple preferred. The 70 guests involved people who were too close to the cast, and it won’t be wrong to say that the boys from FRIENDS were not so close to Jennifer even in 2015. However, Courteney and Lisa managed to get into the list, and we know why. We have often seen Jennifer hanging out with Courteney and Lisa at times. Recently, during the Grammy Awards, the three of them were spotted together, and fans were overwhelmed.

Though it’s sad to know that the boys aren’t close enough to Jennifer to make their way in the 70 guest list. But we can’t blame any one of them. It was more than 11 years while Jennifer got married in 2015 and it’s a long time. Everyone develops a new life in such a time span. The people you are currently meeting, you are working with, you are staying with tend to climb up the priority list always. Even the Friends cast could barely manage to organise a get together in so many years. Everyone has their own life and priorities change.

This is what happened with the six Friends. They might be in constant touch, they might come back for a get together for a reunion soon. Not inviting anyone to a wedding is not the end of everything it seems. Matthew and Matt were both ok with it, and so there wasn’t much to worry about. But as fans, we were concerned as in our imagination they still live together and hang out in Central Perk.

FRIENDS is a show that you can watch with your whole family! Sit around with your children or your grandmother, but you won’t be embarrassed, unlike the shows that are coming up today. The creators have taken special care to keep it that way. The show features people in their twenties, who are fooling around or talking about their fantasies, but still, the scenes are clean, and the lines are acceptable. Do you remember any scene from the show where you found them abusing?

If you are trying to think about Phoebe then yes you remember it right, she was the one who abused on screen. However, lines were not audible, and anyone could hardly figure out what she said. The show projected Phoebe as a rogue character and gave us a feeling that she was the one who could be tough when needed. And as fans, we believed it! We have always seen Phoebe as the one who can dominate others and get her way out. No doubt her childhood was tough, and it helped her pick up the rough characteristics. But was it also true for Lisa Kudrow?

In real life, now if you look at Phoebe, what do you feel about her? Do you think she can be as rude as her character, Phoebe? Or do you think she is the opposite of what Phoebe was? We will answer it with substantial proof soon but before that a little thought about Rachel.

Rachel was sweet and simple, but when things go out of control, she didn’t back out from using little curse words. Don’t forget she was the one who enhanced Ben’s dictionary a little. But in a whole, if we look at Rachel, she was not rough and was quite a pushover.

Now if we say that both of them are opposite in their real life? What if Phoebe is like Jennifer Aniston and Rachel is like Lisa Kudrow in real life? Well, it won’t be wrong to say that because we came across a video where we could see Lisa losing to Jennifer while passing abuses!

Yes, you read it right, Lisa and Jennifer were spotted abusing on screen. And this time not just small baby like abuses but real and dangerous ones. The video will shock many as the innocent girls can be rough too. I know it’s not a big deal for many of us but we never imagined our favourite stars abusing on screen. So it feels a little weird and amusing at the same time to see them passing abuses.

Now you must be wondering why the hell were they abusing right? It turns out it was a game they were playing where the one who is out of abuses will lose. Sounds easy right? Maybe you have a vast dictionary, but it’s not true, for these two girls from FRIENDS. They had to struggle a lot to find some real and insulting abuses, and eventually, Lisa gave up as she didn’t have anything else in stock.

Or maybe I was wondering how they are so opposite and how they would have fought as a couple or even weirder stuff. Joey and Phoebe

This is a couple everyone would enjoy watching. The cuteness of Joey and craziness of Phoebe will make them the perfect couple. They were already the best of friends who even had their dinner plans away from the group. And not just the emotional bond was great that they shared, but Phoebe had the wildness in her to spice things up for Joey every day and keep him hooked to her forever.

You might know it already that by the time Friends was going to end, the actors themselves pitched in the idea of showing Phoebe and Joey were closer than we thought. They wanted to include that Joey and Phoebe were always fooling around while everyone else was not aware of it. Unfortunately, the creators of the show didn’t approve the idea.

Rachel and Gavin Mitchell

Gary came into Rachel’s life at a very disturbing time. She was staying with Ross to raise their baby but they were not together! And you know already how messy their relationship was! So Gavin’s entry was all waste of time.

However, if on a whole new level we imagine a plot where Gavin and Rachel continue their kiss and stay together after that. Won’t that be a great couple to bring give us that cute ‘awww’ moment? Gavin might have loved Rachel dearly while sweetly irritating her with his little pranks and replies. Also, he valued her work and supported her a lot.

Susan, Carol and Ross

Ross was so unfortunate to have got three divorces. But what if he didn’t have to give the first divorce? What if Carol was not only inclined to girls but Ross as well?

Ross would have lived a life that most men can just fantasize about. Only if the girls would have accepted him in the team, he would have been the happiest man in FRIENDS. And all other boys would be jealous to death!

Gunther and Rachel

In the whole TV series, I guess Gunther was the most loyal man. Never have we seen him look at any other girl apart from Rachel. But sadly, his loyalty was never answered.

What if Rachel would have given him a chance? I bet he would have pampered her like a goddess. He would have done anything in his capacity to keep her happy and all out of true love!

Phoebe and David

Phoebe loved David but their story could never flourish. Even in the episode where Phoebe said yes to Mike, we did have the feeling that Phoebe might say yes to David if he would have got the chance to propose. But their story ended abruptly and at some level, I felt bad for the guy.

I believe that instead of Mike if David would have married Phoebe then the scenes would have been more fun. We can’t compare the love of David and Mike because they are prime in their own way. But David would have given us more laughs with his weird actions and dialogues. And we would have got some more science flowing in and maybe at some point, he too might lose some logical conversation as Ross did to Phoebe.

Monica and Joey

Monica and Joey looked cute in the flashback episode. Their relationship was perfectly shown in the episode where Joey loved to eat and Monica loves to cook! How else can you make a perfect pair?

In the initial days of filming the FRIENDS, the creators wanted to bring Monica and Joey together. But the idea was later dropped because you know no one’s better than Chandler when it comes to being with Monica.

Janice and Frank Buffay, Jr.

Janice might not be your favourite character but still sits in your head because the character was fun and powerful. Another character that we didn’t much like was Frank Buffay, Jr. So how would they look like together?

Imagine a scene where Janice is breaking up with Chandler and about to leave Central Perk. And just then Frank comes in and they see each other. Consider it love at first sight! Frank already has a record of falling for elder women so he falls for Janice and Janice somehow in dire need of a companion starts feeling for him.

Now once they get together, just imagine the amount of cringe they can be! Janice laughing at the lame jokes of Frank and all others going numb by the sheer dumbness. There will be madness all over Central Perk!

Amy and Joey

Amy Green, the self-centred girl who didn’t care for anyone and didn’t seem to have a heart. She was too rude to everyone but at some level did you notice that her insults were not all intentional? For her what she did was normal but for everyone else, it wasn’t. So the main problem with her was she never realized her fault because she didn’t know she was doing one.

On the other hand, Joey can be dumb at times and has cute looks. He is handsome enough to make a girl like Amy fall for him. So imagine a scene where Amy falls for Joey, and they have some romantic moments. Actually, rather than romance, they would give us more laughs. Two crazy heads dating can be exciting. Amy would continue showing her tantrums while Joey would support her and take stand for her without knowing the consequences. And their fights would also be embarrassing!

Mr Heckles and Charles Bing

Mr Heckles was always a lonely soul living alone who loved to be whatever he was. It’s difficult to explain him but the guy was a complete genius! Now imagine a scene where Charles Bing comes in his son’s home. I know it’s not possible ever but just imagine!

So imagine a scene where Charles Bing is at Monica’s place and is singing some song as he does. In the very next scene, Mr Heckles knocks the door and says, “You are disturbing my wife’s sleep!”

Monica: “But you don’t even a wife!”

Mr Heckles: “I could have a wife!”

Charles Bing: “Well, you seem to be single and handsome.”

Mr Heckles (this time nervous): “I am handsome and yes I could be single, so?”

Charles: “So…Let’s have some chat while your ‘wife’s’ asleep!”

The door closes and rest is left to your imagination……

Ross and Phoebe

Ross and Phoebe are two opposite characters. One believes in logic and the other, not sure she believes! So couple like this will be a rare combination. In the flashback episode, they were about to get together but that never happened.

In case, if their trial would have been successful then just imagine the disaster! Ross and Rachel fought over “We were on a Break!” but Ross and Phoebe would have fought upon “Evolution Is Real believe it!”

Yes, Courteney posted a weird picture on Instagram to mark Halloween. She was not in any costume but still, something about her was scary and weird. Courteney got a hairstyle that didn’t look so impressive! It’s Bangs we are talking about. Yes, Courteney is seen featuring a bang haircut in the pic and fans didn’t much enjoy it. Maybe that was her idea of having a scary Halloween because she herself sounded scared of the bangs!

Anyways in the background, we see someone dressed in a funnily scary mask who is responsible for her haircut it seems. From what we can make out from the pic, Courteney is having the scariest Halloween of all. Because she is accompanied by a ghost who scares people by giving very bad haircuts! Well, for girls it’s not less than a nightmare, so what can be scarier than this. If you don’t trust my words, then try something odd with your girlfriend’s hairs and you will know it already who’s more important: you or her hairs!

Oh and the Vegas baby! How can someone not be Ross and Rachel while they were all drunk and got married in Vegas? Fans copied the look by sketching on their faces and they look absolutely cute.

Lead characters in FRIENDS are no-doubt the best! Their acting skills have brought them all the success they deserve. But have you ever realised that the main cast was so powerful that they often overshadowed many other best performances in the show? FRIENDS brought in some of the best talents in the industry, but often they were not given the due attention they deserved. I am not saying that the directors were wrong. Instead, they did it wonderfully! The thing is that they couldn’t afford to give much attention to every character for the sake of the show.

The show is a hit not just because of the lead characters, but each person that appeared on screen played a crucial role in its success. We couldn’t help but mention some of the actresses that appeared on the show and did a great job with the character assigned. They did it so well that even after having a relatively smaller screen time, they left a deep mark in our mind. While going through the names, you will surely picturise the characters in your mind. And that happens because the actors did their best with the characters and left a permanent mark. They made their characters lively enough to help them live forever.

Judy Geller

Judy is a mother we won’t ever want to have in our life if you are a kid like Monica. She strangely had a soft corner for Ross but couldn’t stand Monica. No one can explain the behaviour, yet everyone enjoyed her annoying habits. Her expressions were so loud and clear that at times she didn’t even have to deliver words for us to understand.

She played an important character to show us that sometimes a parent-children relationship can be complicated at times. Judy Geller played by Christina Pickles, showed us that she is a phenomenal actor. Else why would we have laughed so hard at those awkward moments between Monica and Judy!

Janice

I know! You can’t stand her voice. But trust me she is one the best actress on the show. Initially, the creators didn’t plan Janice to have as many scenes as we witnessed. But her unique character and the efforts of Maggie Wheeler kept Janice in the show till the last season!

We know it that Maggie did a great job because almost everyone gets irritated with that evergreen phrase: “OH MY GOD!” The character of Janice left an impression that is hard to forget. The most impressive factor is that she made up that voice and continued it all the seasons, it’s tough to do that!

Ursula

We know it’s Lisa Kudrow playing the part of Ursula, but she didn’t let it get into us while watching the show. We could easily distinguish the two characters of Phoebe and Ursula every time. All credit goes to Lisa, who could manage to play one character who is crazy and the other one who is crazier!

All those seasons maintaining the traits of the characters is tough, but Lisa showed us how versatile an actor she can be.

Amy Green

Amy was a self-involved-selfish-heartless being who happened to be Rachel’s sister. She was introduced in the show to be an irritating character, and she nailed it to it’s best. Every time she opened her mouth, it was all a mess always!

We didn’t like the character but surely loved it how Christina Applegate managed to create a character in Friends that we can never forget.

Jill Green

Reese Witherspoon played the character of Rachel’s sister, Jill Green, and no doubt she did a wonderful job. The tantrums and the stupidity mixed with a girlish charm was all delivered right.

Jill was an important character who showed us how Rachel was before she moved with Monica. Well, Jill was a bit more than what Rachel could have been. But it surely helped us understand the long way Rachel walked to be self-independent.

Carol Willick

Anita Barone and Jane Sibbett were the two women who played the part of Carol. And both did their best. Out of the two, we saw Jane Sibbett for a longer time, and we can’t ignore that she did wonderfully.

The character of Carol was an important aspect of the show. Carol was an example set for the future to come. Before Friends, taboo topics like her were not openly shown. Even her wedding scene was censored in some countries but later, the same scene received awards.

Nora Bing

Morgan Fairchild played Nora Bing in Friends, and her presence on screen was very powerful. We didn’t see much of her in the show, but the limited scenes we had was enough to show us the reason why Chandler was Chandler.

Morgan did an exceptional job as her swag and attitude were dangerous enough to make space in your mind and heart. No wonder why Ross couldn’t resist her in the first place.

Mona

Mona played by Bonnie Somerville was one of the best girlfriends one can ask for. In her case, Ross was the one who made a mess but still, she kept her calm and tried to manage things for better.

Mona shows us that it’s important to be patient in a relationship, but unfortunately, we couldn’t see a happy ending for her. However, we enjoyed this short and confusing relationship of Mona with Ross.

Charles Bing

Mentioning Charles Bing in the list might attract conflicting views, but her character is so important that we couldn’t afford to miss highlighting her from the show. Charles was Chandler’s father who opted to be Helena Handbasket in Las Vegas.

In real, Kathleen Turner played the part of Charles. And yes, if you are still in doubt, then Kathleen is an American actress who is famous for her distinctive gritty voice. FRIENDS proved to be radical by introducing Charles as Helena.

Phoebe, Monica & Rachel

The trio is the best one can ever have. FRIENDS gave us lifetime memories, and it was possible because these three people gave their 100% to the show. Without their efforts, the show would have been nothing. The three girls had a bond that helped them develop the right chemistry on screen.

The characters of Phoebe, Rachel and Monica are so intense that many fans can’t remember them by their real name. Rather they prefer their character name to address them in real. They have made a place in our heart that is concrete and will never change.

FRIENDS is one of the most successful TV Series of all time. People have loved it for ages and encouraged it a lot. Even after 26 years, the episodes are refreshing and brings not just smiles but rigorous laughs to every fan. The concept was unique and ahead of time but never failed to loop in everyone in contact. For times like now, we are ok with flings, different methods of pregnancy, different types of marriages, and more. But back in 1994, it wasn’t so common. Despite the odds, the show managed to open up people’s minds and make way for themselves.

But did everyone enjoy the change? Often people try to resist change. And Friends was a change, a revolution in itself. It tried to widen the narrow storytelling boundaries, tried to bring on TV some taboo topics, and also tried the way the audience interacts with the show. Yes, it’s interesting to know that FRIENDS changed many of their plots and scripts according to the response of the live audience on the show. So it was something different and new to be practised on such a production scale.

It’s wrong to say that the show creators were always confident and weren’t scared of experimenting. Actually, in many instances, they were worried that they might receive backlashes from the viewers. After the pilot episode where Monica forgot the name of the guy she slept with, they took a survey to confirm that viewers didn’t start to hate her.

The creators had to face tough times at places because of their modern and radical approach. In the episode where Carol married her lover Susan, they were cautious the most and had to face the heat a bit. Censor boards were tough on them and banned the scene on TV in many countries. But later, they received an award for the same.

To sum it all, there were instances where the viewers or the critics did not take the new show well. Out of all those, People Magazine was one who didn’t give many high ratings to the show while it started. They rated the sitcom a mere D+, and what we could figure out from their note was that they didn’t have much hope from this radical series.

While most of the readers might not get the negativity in the lines because of course it’s written by some professional critic and they have their own way of describing things. In case they have to let you down then they do it very professionally like a ‘knife dipped in honey’. But their rating speaks it loud! D+ to a show like FRIENDS is obviously too low.

However, despite all the resistance, the show proved to be an instant hit after going on TV. And the cast became a household name where everyone looked at them like stars. People went so crazy that many copied Rachel’s haircut, while others tried to fill their wardrobe with dresses to look like their beloved sitcom stars. The show created history and is still continuing to do the same.

Moral and health issues are sidestepped altogether: “Friends” touts promiscuity and offers liberal samples of an openness that borders on empty-headedness. It’s not much of a positive example for juves, though.

Pilot centers around Monica’s bad luck with previous dates and what happens when she welcomes a new man to her bed. An embarrassing situation seems to be the worst that comes of the encounter—at least, for the time being.

All six of the principals, especially Cox and Schwimmer, appear resourceful and display sharp sitcom skills. But even the best tightrope walkers need dependable rigging, and the pilot, a getting-to-know-you script, offers little support.

Friends TV Show is absolutely one of the most hilarious shows I have ever seen. I am a fiction lover. I love movies like Harry Potter and shows like The Vampire Diaries. Friends was the first comedy-based show I started watching. Ever since I started watching this show, I haven’t been able to stop myself from watching it over and over again. Now I am at a place where one episode a day keeps me stress-free the whole day!

This show is kind of a stress buster not just for me but for many. Well, the prime reason for the huge success of this show is its comedy. Oh! How we have laughed our hearts out during those sarcastic jokes cracked by Chandler. But, can we be sure that we know each and every joke cracked by him or the rest of the cast? Of course, we don’t remember every one of them. But I am questioning if you understood them all while watching? There might be many jokes which we didn’t even notice while watching the series. So now, let’s check out some of the jokes which we might have not understood to their fullest.

Matthew Perry and his lost toe.

Remember the Thanksgiving episode where the six friends shared their worst thanksgiving stories? This is the episode where we discovered that Chandler is ‘The King of Worst Thanksgivings’. In this episode, Chandler loses his toe in a knife accident at Monica’s.

But did you know that this scene was actually used by the cast and directors to make fun of Matthew? In real life, Matthew lost his toe in an accident when he was a kid.

The one where we saw other friends sitting on the Central Perk couch.

In season three, there was an episode where Ross reveals to Rachel his fantasy, ‘The Princess Leia one’. There is one scene where they all go to the coffee house as usual. But, to their surprise, they find other people sitting on their regular hangout couch. I bet many of you didn’t realize who those people were. They were the writers of the show. Crazy, I KNOW!

The one with ‘The Rachel haircut’.

Many of us might have tried the Rachel Green haircut after watching the show. Jennifer Aniston rocked that look! In the episode “The one with the Lesbian wedding” Rachel’s mother shares with her how she is thinking of divorcing her father and would like to lead her life like Rachel. To this, she reacted by saying “If she had to be more like me, why couldn’t she just copy my hairstyle or something?” Now, this was a joke keeping in mind the trend of ‘the Rachel’ haircut.

The one with Professor Geller’s teaching method.

In an episode, Ross is seen giving a lecture about dinosaurs. In this episode, if you look at the board, you will notice some funny diagram-based stuff written there. My best guess is that it said Dr. Geller gets bitten by a mosquito and then has a dream about how he visualizes using DNA from Mosquito to clone T-REX.

The one where Joey’s name appears in the crossword.

We all know how Rachel loves to solve crossword puzzles. Once while she was doing her puzzle, she realized that the answer to one of the blocks was Joey Tribbiani. Then Joey takes the magazine from her and reads- “Three down, Days of our Lives star blank Tribbiani. That’s me!! I’m Blank!!” Now, if you all know, Matt’s last name is similar to that, Matt ‘LeBlanc’.

The hidden meaning behind Rachel’s Spanish sentence.

Remember Rachel’s baby shower to which Monica and Phoebe forgot to invite Rachel’s mother? In this episode, there is a scene where Rachel and her mother look back in time. They talk about Rachel’s caretaker who taught Rachel a little bit of Spanish. Rachel here says a Spanish sentence – “Tu Madre es loca!”. The meaning of this sentence is “My mother is crazy!” Well placed Rachel!

The one where Rachel has a blind date with the stoned guy.

In season nine when Rachel is done with her whole pregnancy period, she asks Phoebe to set her up with someone. So, Phoebe sets her up with a friend of hers. During that scene when Rachel asks him what happened to his restaurant. He reacts saying that he lost it to abuse by substances. Now, if you are watching the series for the third or fourth time, you might have noticed, this guy is the same guy who comes to Monica’s place to test her cookery skills. This was to determine if she was eligible to become the head Chef of his restaurant or not.

The one with the poker game.

Going back in time, we know how terrible the girls were at poker. There is this episode from Season 1 where they all play poker and the girls tend to lose every time. In this episode, there is a scene where Rachel leaves the game unsettled saying she has to fax some resumes. Then the guys react saying, “Rach, we got to settle”. To this Rachel asks what is there to settle. Now Chandler being Chandler, cracked a sarcastic joke saying. “The James town of Virginia”. You see King George is giving us the land, …..
Many of you might now know this but the James Colony of Virginia was the first place where the British established their colony. According to William Kelso, James Town is where the British empire began.

The one where Phoebe gives Monica a haircut.

In season 2, Phoebe gives a haircut to Joey and Chandler which turns out great. Seeing this, Monica asks Phoebe to give her a hair cut like Demi Moore. But Phoebe misunderstands it to be Dudley Moore. After this terrible misunderstanding, when they all were sitting at the table, Ross comments saying, “Well, I like it, I do. I think it’s a 10”. To this, they all start laughing. You see, here, Ross was referring to Dudely Moore’s movie “10”.

The one where Chandler sets up Rachel for a date with his colleague.

We all know what a charming woman Rachel Green is. I mean can a guy ever refuse to go on a date after knowing Rachel is seeking a fling! When Chandler ask his colleagues if they would like to go on date with Rachel, without thinking twice, they said yes. Later, when Rachel meets Chandler, he explains to her how guys are dying to go on a date with her. To this, Rachel responds, “Will I like any of these guys?”. Chandler again cracks a joke saying, “Guys are signing over. Therefore not one – K’s to me”. This joke, of course, even I did not get. So, apparently, 401(k) is a retirement plan offered to the employee by the employer.

The one with Monica bang.

I think many of you have figured out which scene I am talking about with the title. I am talking about the scene where Monica and Rachel were babysitting Ben. While playing with Ben, Monica bangs his head on a wall. After this, Monica and Rachel both try to create a scenario to make Ben think that banging their heads to a wall is perhaps normal. After doing this, when Monica asks Rachel if she was ok, she comments saying, “Yeah. You know. If it is not a headboard, it is just not worth it.” The meaning of this joke is that banging your head is not worth it unless it is against a headboard while doing it (I hope you understand doing what).

The one with Phoebe’s date with the health inspector.

In season 5 episode 7, there is a scene where Phoebe and Larry (the health inspector) go on a dinner date. In this scene we see Phoebe throwing a pinch of salt over her left shoulder. I think many of us know the reason behind this. There is a belief that we should throw salt over our left shoulder to avoid bad luck and we all know how Phoebe loves to believe in such stuff.

The one with Phoebe’s déjà vu.

I mean we all know that Phoebe can do the weirdest stuff. Once while they are were all hanging out at Monica’s, Monica finally builds up the courage to tell them that she is breaking up with Allen. When she starts to talk, as always Phoebe interrupts and says “Wait, I am getting a déjà vu. No, I am not.” Now, if you see the confusion between yes and no is a typical ‘déjà vu”.

The one with Captain Joey Tribbiani.

In season 6, the season where Chandler and Monica get engaged! Rachel and Phoebe are spotted discussing how happy they are for Chandler and Monica if you know what I mean. Joey comes in the coffee house and askes them if they have seen Chandler. To this Rachel reacts saying “Wh—no, but you know who did stop in here looking for you, Tennlie!” well, Captain and Tennile were a famous duo, American singing artist during the 70s.

The one with the football game on thanksgiving.

In season 3 episode 9 we got to see how good the cast was in football. While they were about to play the game, Joey suggested that they should pick captains. Chandler responded to this by saying “And then Tennille”. Now we know who invented the joke! In fact, there have been many such scenes where we can see the other friends following the footsteps of Chandler Bing!

Chandler’s Childhood Was Terrible According To Him

Chandler’s childhood is not discussed much, but from what we know, it doesn’t seem to be a wonderful one. Just at the age of 9, he had to witness the divorce of his parents. And to make things worse, his parents announced it to him over Thanksgiving dinner!

The events from his childhood haunted him badly throughout his life. He was so traumatized that he decided not to celebrate thanksgiving ever again. Considering the character he was, who couldn’t interact with people easily, felt insecure about a lot of stuff, and more. We can easily predict how difficult his childhood must have been.

Chandler’s Parents Did Not Care About Him Nor His Feelings

Chandler’s parents, Nora Bing and Charles Bing did not do a great job when it comes to parenting. They were successful in their personal lives but had mere contact with their son.

If they had cared for him, then they might not have considered a Thanksgiving dinner to be the right place for disclosure of their divorce. In the series, we haven’t seen much of Chandler’s parents, but in almost all the moments when we have, they seemed to have embarrassed Chandler a lot.

Chandler’s mother crossed a line when she kissed Ross because it was so not appropriate! She rarely visited her son and doing such things made their relationship even worse. Even at his wedding, they were so self-involved instead of celebrating the big day.

His Friends Ignored Things About Him A Lot

Yes, they did! You can’t defend them because his friends were really ignorant of him. A simple instance to prove it is that hardly anyone knew what he did for a living.

Not just that, everyone forgot that his birthday comes before Rachel’s, and no one choose to throw a party for him, but they were doing it for Rachel.

Even the time when he got new glasses, no one could figure out the difference showing how closely they knew about him. So it won’t be wrong to say that in the show, his friends didn’t care about him much. They had good terms, enjoyed each other’s company but didn’t take much interest in him, it seems.

The Gang Did Not Take Him Seriously

Chandler was the funniest one in the group but was often not taken seriously because of his funny nature. Everyone looked at him with a little inferiority in terms of being responsible.

Or else why would Rachel and Ross not consider him to be their child’s parent when they are gone. They at first considered him to be the “fun parent” and not a serious father figure.

His Friends Tried To Belittle Him

It’s not a surprise how all the five of them tried to belittle him every time. In many instances, they referred to Monica that Chandler was not the best match for her. They even said it on Chandler’s face that he was no good for Monica.

The time when Rachel and Monica were fighting and Rachel made a comeback by saying she was going to label Chandler as “What were You thinking!”. Also, Phoebe left no chances to question Chandler’s manhood whenever she could.

Remember the Halloween party at Monica’s place? Well, Joey dressed up as Chandler and imitated him. Everyone laughed at him while making him insecure about it. The scene was hilarious though!

Chandler’s Masculinity Was Often Questioned

We have often heard statements coming out from Chandler like “If I were a guy.” Most of us might blame him, but if you deeply see things, his friends and his life is to be blamed for this condition.

He might incline to a few feminine things but that doesn’t entitle others to tag him oddly. Ross, Joey, and Phoebe never felt sorry for they singled out Chandler on occasions.

Because of all these events he often felt intimidated by Richard or any other men who looked tall and muscular, like Will Colbert.

He Made Fun Of Himself To Avoid Giving Other’s A Chance To Do The Same

Chandler said it often that he made jokes when he is uncomfortable. Over the years he developed this habit of cracking jokes to ease things around him. It’s like he had to practice being happy amid all the tough times he had faced.

Often people develop such habits when they are insecure about themselves. And it’s quite possible that all those jokes upon himself were staged with hopes of getting back a few consolations in return But all efforts in vain!

No One Cared For His Insecurities & Laughed At Them

Chandler’s humorous lines are funny but are often saddening too. On digging into the dialogues, he often makes comments that make him look low. Even his insecurities were not taken seriously by anyone.

Everyone has insecurities, and they should be addressed well, or it might lead to emotional hell. Chandler in FRIENDS had his insecurities too. He was scared to be committed to a relationship which is a real problem but all he received was laughs!

Phoebe went out of the way and tried to use Chandler’s insecurity to make Gary have similar feelings. So it feels he didn’t get justice about his insecurity until it was really urgent.

The Women He Loved Cheated On Him

We know Chandler was quite jealous of Richard and felt insecure around him. But there’s a reason for it. The girls he had dated in the past left him nothing but a future full of insecurities.

Chandler fell in love with Kathy and Janice, but both of them somehow cheated on him. They both did not confess until they got caught. So it looks like Chandler never had a great experience when it comes to true love. Of course, until he fell in love with Monica!

He Hated Himself And His Job But No One Helped Him

Chandler spent a lot of his life hating himself and his job. The day when he proposed to Monica he also said a line that he had “little life” before he fell in love. He did not just say it, rather he meant it.

His job was pathetic as he did not enjoy it at all. He was more satisfied than being an intern than earning a huge paycheck in his previous job Even though everyone knew he hated his job, no one ever helped him get into a better one. After all, it’s your friends from whom you expect such life-saving advice.

Yet again his friends didn’t come to his rescue while he needed them.

It’s been 26 years since the wonderful show from the 90’s – ‘Friends’ came up. The show has aired on multiple platforms after completing its term on TV. With each year passing by, we only notice the viewership increase and the fan clubs expanding. And for fans like us, now we are all well-versed with the likes and dislikes of all the six lead characters. I mean we even know Chandler Bing’s job that Monica and Rachel didn’t know about. But what was it again? I want to say, it had something to do with numbers, but you already know what it is, so forget it. We also know that Phoebe intrigued with superstitions and stuff. Joey was fascinated by food (particularly pizza)and Ross, of course, he is the dinosaur guy. Our funny guy, Chandler hated thanksgiving and was super insecure about commitments. But things change for him once he fell in love with Monica. And our Little Harmonica, she is too obsessed with cleaning & organising everything around her. There is one more thing about Monica in particular i.e., she doesn’t like to lose. I am talking in ‘NEVER-EVER’ kind of terms here! From the foosball game to football she can bet her life at it! So today, let’s talk about the competitive side of Monica and is she really a winner in everything?

In the end, we have a surprise for all Monica fans because in this article you will witness something that doesn’t tune in to the Monica we know!

Monica and Pictionary.

Remember episode 18 in season 1 where they all were playing Pictionary? During Monica’s turn, she drew and tried to explain a movie. But Chandler made guesses that were not even close to the one she wanted him to say. Well, the movie was ‘bye-bye birdie’. Then it was Rachel’s turn whose drawing Joey guesses within seconds.

In this scene, we notice how frustrated Monica gets. She almost forgot to have fun but took things more like a challenge. That’s how Monica was. She was really competitive. Well, I think your drawing was great Mon.

The Trivia Game that cost Monica and Rachel their apartment.

In season four we get to see an amazing trivia game. In this, it is well portrayed how well the friends know each other. We have seen the ‘n’ number of games played by the characters in the whole series but this one is my favourite. I was shocked after watching the scene where Chandler and Joey literally guessed every item in Rachel’s bag correctly! And we all know how this game ended.

This probably would have been the first game Monica had lost in a long time. Even during this game, we could see how energetic Monica had become. She wasn’t much afraid to raise the stakes because she trusts herself a lot! She never imagined that she could even lose a game like that. Well, her overconfidence cost her a lot.

The Football Game for the Geller Cup.

Monica’s obsession to be the winner was clear again when she jumped into the river and brought the Geller cup back. Even she kept it a secret and never told Ross until that one thanksgiving. Then of course the game itself proved how Monica loves to win. The thing I love the most is how the others accepted these obsessive behaviours of each other.

But have you ever thought if Monica is the best in everything? Or is there any sport where she might give up easily and let go of the winner’s trophy? Maybe, we have found something to feed this curiosity. So keep reading to know!

The foosball games.

There was this another time when we all saw how wonderful Monica was at foosball. Do you know anyone who can win a foosball game alone against two? Well, Monica Geller can! Not just once but every single time!

And her determination and energy are uncomparable always. It looks like she is born to be the winner in everything.

The Ping-pong games.

Remember that episode where Monica had that super curly hair look. I enjoyed that episode so much! Especially the scene where Mike and Monica start playing ping-pong and Chandler says “Oh my god! There is two of them”.

Monica was not ready to stop until she knew she was the ultimate winner. Though tired as hell, her only desire was to win. So, Chandler won it for her and that was definitely one of the cutest and sweetest moment! But when we look back at Monica, she wasn’t cute. Rather she was pathetic and stubborn just as we expect her to be always!

The Pool game with Jennifer Aniston aka Rachel.

A few months ago, Courteney posted a video showcasing her awesome skills in a Pool game. She posted a video on her Instagram to flaunt it loud. And here, I was star struck after watching it. Can someone really be that amazing in every game they play? Well, she is Monica I thought, she can the best in everything!

The Tennis Game

But recently all those high hopes and expectations about Monica got shattered after watching a clip. Cox posted an expectation vs reality sort of video on her Insta a few days back. In this, we see her playing great Tennis. It again makes us wonder how she can be good at everything!

But as the video rolls over, we saw the reality part. And the reality wasn’t anything like the Monica we know. The video shows that Courteney is just a beginner when it comes to playing tennis.

Looks like our Monica is not always a winner. She has had her fair shares of loses too. Anyways, we all have our share of flaws and it is amazing how Courteney wasn’t embarrassed to show that to us. But recently, a source talking to US Weekly revealed that Jennifer might consider taking up the role of a director after having triumphed in “The MOrnign Show”. So is the 2020 end of her acting career? Are we not going to get more of Jennifer on-screen?

Aniston And Her Award History.

Jennifer as we all know gained worldwide recognition after her role in Friends. Throughout her acting career, she has delivered the best and the world didn’t stop recognising it either. She is covered with a lot of awards in her career and the list is not small enough to mention them all. However, some big awards in her shelves include the Golden Globe Awards, 2 Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Primetime Emmy Awards.

In total, she was nominated 7 times for the Primetime Emmy Awards. If we dig into the Screen Actors Guild Awards then she was nominated for a total of 11 times. So it seems the award organisers never fail to consider Jennifer Aniston’s name in their list.

Well, these are a few very big award names we are talking about but if we try to make a list of some not so heard award names then the list can be overwhelming. She was titled ‘Decade of Hotness’ by Guy’s Choice Awards in the year 2011. She was given the award for ‘Best Kiss’ by the MTV Movie + TV Awards. Looks like Ross had a very good time on FRIENDS! Jennifer’s Career As A Director And Future Plans.

If you are wondering when did she become a Director then my friend, you need to update your knowledge! Don’t be shocked to know that Jennifer has directed a couple of pieces already. She has already directed two short films and a segment of the Lifetime anthology movie Five.

So it ringed bells in everyone’s mind when the source disclosed about Jennifer shifting to direction as this is something she has been trying for already. Quoting the source, she said, “This year has been the most groundbreaking of Jen’s life in so many ways. She worked her bu*t off to make The Morning Show a success and seeing that happen has given her the confidence to move ahead with her ultimate dream of becoming a director.”

It was also added in the statement that Jennifer “enjoys being behind the camera and says it’s her destiny to make that switch.” The source also stated that over the last two years, Jennifer gave a thought of leaving the industry and thought of it as a fantasy.

With Friends Reunion in the line, is it something the FRIENDS Fans might be worried about? We have been waiting for years for a reunion and if Jennifer is out acting, then how can it be a reunion? FRIENDS without Jennifer Aniston would be a disaster. Many love her and can’t stand to see someone else as Rachel Green.

Jennifer replied to it by saying, ‘I would have to say the last two years that has crossed my mind, which it never did before.’

She also added by saying that there was one project before The Morning Show, that was so hard on her that it brought in thoughts of quitting the Hollywood. She said, “It was after a job I had completed and I was like, “Whoa, that was really… that sucked the life out of me. And I don’t know if this is what interests me.”

She also added that “It was an unprepared project, we’ve all been a part of them, you always say: “I’ll never again! Never again! I will never back up into a start date!”

Such words can be a threat to the fans of Jennifer but anyway we can’t ask her to stick around in something that she is not enjoying. Everyone needs a break and a change. Maybe Jennifer too has reached a point where she needs that change in life. The only thing that the fans should be really worried about is her happiness. Netflix today announced the final cast of an epic Comedy piece, and we were delighted to see Matthew Perry on the list. Looks like the “Chan Chan Man” is back in business!

The Movie teased by Netflix has a cast that can blow your heads out because it’s nothing less than being brilliant. Turns out, Matthew Perry is not the only star to look out for in this piece of entertainment, but they have many other faces that will force you to watch it. Are you too excited about the movie? It is set to be released in 2021 and the shoots will begin most probably in the next month. So get ready to see something wonderful because it is going to happen. Matthew is back in business and this time with a lot more fun! Tell us what are you expecting out of his character in this movie?

There are many reasons for which we love the evergreen TV Show “F.R.I.E.N.D.S”. Such as the hilarious moments which make us laugh our head off, all the drama, romance and of course the amazing cast who maintained the essence of the show for 10 long years. Another unrivalled reason, the dialogues from the show. By the time you are on the last season, you have already discovered a lot of the iconic phrases and dialogues by each character. Like Monica’s “I KNOW!!!”, Rachel’s “NOOO!!”, Joey’s “How you doing?”, Phoebe’s “He is her lobster”, Ross’ “WE WERE ON A BREAK!!” and Chandler’s “Tell him to email me at www-dot-haha-not-so-much-dot-com”.

I bet you read these dialogues in the same tone as delivered by the actors. But, did you know that some of the most ‘laugh-out-loud’ jokes were not in the script? That’s right, there were many instances where the actors came up with the jokes themselves. Some were made using wit and some were the result of mistakes but the directors didn’t cut them off because they looked so natural!

So I have listed down some of the moments that were unscripted either by choice or situation.

The one where Ross and Ben pranked Rachel!

This is one of my favourite scenes where Ross and his son, Ben play a prank on Rachel. This scene happened when Ross asks Rachel to look after Ben again as he had some work. While Ross was about to leave, Rachel notices a note which Ben had stuck on Ross’ shirt. Angry by the incident, Ross chases Ben out to the corridor and that is when they both pull a prank on Rachel!

Well, in this scene, throwing a look-alike doll was in the script but Jennifer (Rachel) was not informed about it. The result was obvious, Jennifer’s reaction and that scream was 100% genuine. The directors wanted a natural scene and sure they got it. There was one shortcoming in the scene that Jennifer went out of her character and yelled: “Oh my god, David!”. So they had to of course dub over later.

The one where Chandler made a mistake in his joke.

In the episode “The one with Phoebe’s Uterus”, Joey was wearing a Blue blazer of a museum tour guide. This definitely called for a sarcastic joke from the funniest guy “Chandler”. The original line was “I know Donald Trump wants his Blue Blazer back” but Matthew made a mistake and said “blue blazer black”.

Normally, such a scene should be re-taken. But the response from other characters and Matthew’s counter-reaction made it difficult to ignore. The scene was so comic and natural that the directors didn’t feel the need for a re-take.

The one with Matthew’s own joke.

There was one episode where Chandler asks his friends to recommend him a tailor. Joey tells him to visit the tailor he has been going since 15 no wait, 16? No, maybe he was 15… Oh no, that was 16. Well, it was somewhere around 1990.

In this scene, Matthew was not supposed to react but just scoff and let go. But gentlemen, that’s Matthew we are talking about, and he can’t let go of moments where he can add comic elements. So instead of just following the script, Matthew slipped in a line, “Ok, you have to stop the Q-tip when there’s RESISTANCE! And of course that fake gun he had ready to shoot! All credit for this scene goes to Matthew only.

The one where Ross said the wrong name!

Well, I am sure many of you know this already. The scene where Ross says the wrong name at his wedding was actually not in the script. The directors knew they can’t let Ross marry Emily but how to do it was the question.

While rehearsing lines, it once so happened that David by mistake said “Rachel, the taxi is here” instead of saying “Emily, the taxi is here”. And that’s the bit where the directors had their eureka moment! Surely, a Crazy idea! But gave us great laughs and unforgettable memories.

The one with Paolo’s Italian lines.

Remember Rachel’s Italian boyfriend Paolo? Well, turns out his dialogues weren’t scripted because none of the directors knew Italian. At that moment, they had two options where one was to try and come up with actual Italian lines. And the second one was to let the actor, Cosimo Fusco come up with his own dialogues. The directors took a chance and tried the second way out. So the actor ended up devising his own dialogues.

The one with the guest stars.

Billy Crystal and Robin Williams’ appearance was one of the most memorable guest appearances on the show. What we didn’t know, was the fact that everything they did was spontaneous. Looks like the directors were always in for some natural scenes. Hence, they let both of them create their own scene and we all know that they did a wonderful job. They were never specially invited for the show. Rather they stopped by to check out the sets and were asked for an impromptu to which they couldn’t deny.

The one with Marcel being what he is.

Two of the most difficult characters to shoot are babies and animals. It is genuinely hard to control them or rather we should say you can’t control them. And that’s the reason, such scenes take a lot of re-takes.

Coming to Marcel, Ross’ illegal monkey, he was more of a free spirit. Katie was the monkey who played the role of Marcel and she was very hard to control. Katie’s trainer once gave an interview where he mentioned a time when Katie threw a bra at Jennifer Aniston. So, if you see there could have been many scenes where the monkey did things which were not scripted.

The one where Joey hurt his arm.

In one of the episodes, it was shown that Joey hurt his arm while jumping on his bed. We were made to believe that he was hurt after falling from the bed. But the original script didn’t have this. Actually, the script was altered after Matt broke his arm in real. Remember the episode in which Matt and Matthew were fighting over a chair? Well, during their tussle, Matt got some real pain!

The one with Richard Branson as a guest star.

Looks like every famous personality during the ’90s was invited for a cameo by the directors! Richard Branson was also a part of the list. In case if you haven’t noticed, the owner of Virgin Group played the part of a cart vendor in London.

He was so busy that he couldn’t accommodate time to revise his lines before the shoot. So the directors had no choice, but to let Matthew, Richard and Matt made up their own lines.

The one where Christina Applegate couldn’t pronounce Phoebe.

Christina Applegate was one of the best guest appearances on Friends. She played the role of Rachel’s sister, Amy. Remember how she kept calling Phoebe as Emma and thought that the name “Phoebe” was a weird sound?

Well, the idea of not calling Phoebe by name was not in the script. While rehearsing, Applegate struggled in saying the name, Phoebe and that’s how it began. They finally decided to make things hilarious by continuing the same in the final plot!

The one where Carol cries.

We all know how Ross struggled with his relationship with Carol. It was really hard for him to get over his first wife, Carol. In one of the episodes, Ross made one last effort to try and ask Carol to come back. In that scene, the actress wasn’t supposed to cry according to the script. But, Jane couldn’t help herself and tears rolled out after listening to David’s heart-touching performance. And the directors liked it enough to keep the same clip in the final release.

The one where Chandler was handcuffed.

There are some iconic scenes from Friends which are still considered the most hilarious moments. One such scene was when Chandler was handcuffed by Joana, Rachel’s boss, in her cabinet. At first, we see Rachel went into the cabinet and removed the handcuffs and decided to let him go. But then she realized how mad her boss would be when she finds out that Rachel was the one to let him go.

In a panic mode, Rachel handcuffs Chandler to a filing drawer. And just after this scene, something happens that’s out of the scripts. Chandler tries to move his hand and ends up hitting his head to the drawer. The expression we see is totally genuine and we can’t deny it’s one of his best faces we have seen.

The one where Ross and Rachel get divorced.

We all have laughed our hearts out whenever Ross’s divorces are mentioned. One such scene was when Ross tried to convince Rachel to stay married to him. Here again, there was a dialogue by Jennifer Aniston “This isn’t a marriage, this is a world’s worst hangover!” which was not mentioned in the script. Must say, a real funny line by Jennifer!

The one where Mathew Perry came up with a funnier joke again.

There’s a scene where Mathew Perry was supposed to say, “I don’t think they are dating as much as they are drunk”. Here, yet again he proved he really is the funniest guy in the whole group. He came up with a joke which was much funnier than the real one right after he heard the lines. The joke was, “I don’t think they are dating as much as they are two bottles of Vodka walking around together”.

The one with the final line of the show

We all know the two main hang out places of the group. One undoubtedly was Monica’s house. Another was, of course, the “Coffee House”, Central Perk. In the last episode when Rachel suggests that they should all go and have coffee together, Mathew like always made a spontaneous joke asking, “Sure, where?”. This again was the clip the directors chose.

It seems Chandler always had the urge to be the one who has the wrap-up line! He can’t stop himself from pitching in great jokes always!

To conclude, I am very happy that the actors came up with their own jokes. Every joke cracked by them is always a delight for us. May we see more of them soon. Till then keep rewatching and keep laughing.

Matt began his career in the glamour world as a model and was simultaneously working on his acting skills. Like many struggling actors, even he started his acting career with small television commercials. He didn’t stop with just commercials. He even appeared in many music videos like Alanis Morrisette’s “Walk Away” in 1991, Tom Petty’s “Into the Great Wide Open” and Jon Bon Jovi’s “Miracle” in 1990.

Matt’s Entry Into TV Series World

Yes, FRIENDS was not the first TV Series that Matt worked in. After doing a few TV commercials and making appearances in music videos, Matt took a step ahead and started working on TV Shows. His first TV Show was TV 101. Although he appeared in just 13 episodes of that show, he never failed to leave a great impression through his acting skills. Soon after this show, he was seen in “Just the Ten of Us” in 1989. In the year 1991, he appeared in two TV shows at the same time namely, “Top of the Heap” and “Married with Children”. Again in 1992, he was seen playing the role of Vinnie Verducci in the show “Vinnie and Bobby”.

Even though he gave brilliant performances in many tv series, his shows were not hitting the success level he deserved. Things became so worse that by the year 1994, Matt was completely broke. In one of his interviews he mentioned that while he auditioned for the FRIENDS TV show, he only had $11 in his pocket. He also amused us all with an incident he narrated about filing his uneven tooth.

He said that there was a time he went to get his first headshot to show to casting agents. He came across a photographer who suggested him to file down his teeth. Having taken the advice, he went to see a dentist who quoted him a cost of $80 for the job. But those were the days of struggle where Matt was without insurance and the amount seemed too high for him!

Solution: He went to the drug store and bought a three-pack of emery boards to do the filing himself. He jokingly added that he is really frugal. Well, we would like to believe you Matt but we can understand how much you have struggled to reach your position.

Even after cutting out his expenditure he was left with only $11 before he got the part in Friends. He also reached a point where he almost thought of taking up the job of a waiter but fate had better things planned already!

In case if he would have missed the part of Joey Tribbiani then we might not have seen Matt in the entertainment world at all. He already made his mind to give up on his acting career and look for a job as a waiter.

His original life looks very similar to his character Joey Tribbiani, isn’t it? In Friends, Joey had to struggle a lot before he could get a real part as an actor and earn good money. The same happened with Matt as he had to struggle his way out to reach Friends.

There was a scene in Friends where Joey didn’t have insurance and couldn’t afford his hernia operation. He had to go through a lot of pain before he could get that operation done. Well, Matt never got a hernia but he surely didn’t have his insurance to pay for medical bills back in those days. Looks like the writers were influenced by the life of Matt LeBlanc while writing Joey’s character.

Matt LeBlanc’s Life – During And After Friends

FRIENDS was favoured from the very first season. All the six lead characters started gaining a huge fan base. The show is still considered one of the best shows from the ’90s. By the time they reached the final season, all of them demanded a solid 1 million dollars for each episode. With this, they also became the first ones to get paid such a huge amount. The cast also won the Screen Actors Guild award in the year 1996. Matt was also working in many movies during that time. Like (Lost in Space in 1998), (Charlie’s Angels in 2000 and its sequel Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, in 2003) and (All the Queen’s Men in 2001).

Even after the show ended, Matt didn’t have to let go of his character “Joey Tribbiani”. In 2004 a show was launched as a Friends spinoff named Joey. It was a show exclusively made for Matt LeBlanc seeing his huge fanbase, although this show wasn’t that successful. The show was cancelled mid-season in 2006. After this, he made appearances in Lisa Kudrow’s show “Web Therapy”. He got his next big break in Episodes. He has won three Emmy Awards for his role in “Episodes”. Matt Leblanc was last seen on-screen in the tv show “Man with a Plan” which aired from 2016-2020.

So for a guy who was almost taking up the job of a waiter to reaching a position which most actors die for, it’s a huge change in life he has experienced. He is a man who teaches us not to give up in life. If you believe in yourself that you can do something good in life then cling to it. Your time might be late, but it will come if you are true to your cause.

10 years of success! 10 seasons filled with hilarious comedy, absolute drama, adorable romance and an Extraordinary Friendship. Yes, I am talking about the 90’s sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S. This is one of my all-time favourite show which I can watch anywhere, anytime. The show was all about six friends living their ordinary life in their own messy way but growing up into becoming wonderful adults.

‘Welcome to the real world. It sucks, you are going to love it’. Yes, Monica, our real world is tough but you guys made it easy for us. We fell in love with the show and with your outstanding performances.

The whole cast is just so lovable and we are always up to knowing the whereabouts of them. It is amazing to know that the leads of the show are still in touch with each other even after 26 years! Did you know that Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston are best friends in real life just like their characters? In fact, they are so close that Courteney actually asked Jennifer to be her daughter’s Godmother and without a doubt, Aniston said yes!

Talking about her daughter, she looks so much like Courteney! She is adorable and from what we have seen in her videos, she is talented too. In Friends, we knew Monica would be the perfect mother. She is strict, she loves and cares a lot and is definitely disciplined. But in real life, is Courteney the same as Monica as a mother?

Let’s check out how close is Courteney Cox with her daughter. Courteney and David had Coco in the year 2004. Although Cox and Arquette separated, they are still very close to each other and go on many business trips together. They both share a very good bond with their daughter as well. In Coco’s parenting, even after the divorce, it seems they both have supported the little girl in a balanced way. And yes, both of them uploaded adorable videos on their daughter’s 13th birthday and 16th birthday too. David claimed that she will always be her little angel while Courteney called Coco her little quirk of the universe. So cute!

Courteney is great at parenting. She has always encouraged her daughter. In recent interviews, she has always grumbled about the fact that she does not get much time to spend with her little girl. Typical mommy right! She adds that it is really hard to get a teenager out of their bed and get them to spend time with their parents. But despite all these things they both share a very good bond with each other.

As a part of Courteney’s Facebook watch series 9 months with Courteney Cox, she let her daughter question her all about pregnancy, motherhood and parenting. That episode turned out to be an absolutely adorable and comic one. We love seeing the mother-daughter duo together doing the weirdest kinds of stuff together and laugh their hearts out.

Another instance was when Courteney let Coco do her make-up. They looked super-cute together and I must say the make-up was pretty great! Not just us but even the former Friends’ stars love seeing this duo together too. Lisa Kudrow commented on the video saying “This is fun but sooo fun to watch.”

Her daughter too is very understanding and loves both her parents equally. She shares a pretty great bond with her Godmother as well. Jennifer used to babysit Coco when she was a little girl and we can see her getting some character traits from her aunt! In a video posted by Courteney where Coco was singing a song, she wrote a caption saying “When you have a teenager you barely get to see them. So much negotiating. Coco traded me one song if I let her go to a party. I took it.” Jennifer Aniston made a comment where she said: “Aww, just like her Godmother taught her.” Cute right!
