We all are fond of different couples from the Friends TV show but only a few couples are loved worldwide. One of them is “Ross and Rachel, Rachel and Ross”. Throughout the series, we have seen them as different individuals or as a couple. We have seen them fight until they couldn’t stand each other anymore, also we have seen their cute couple moments.
Even though they have been discourteous to each other at times, we all have craved until the very last season for them to get back together and live their life happily ever after. They are one such couple who always kept us on toes. The whole “we were on a break, no we were not”- whose side were you? As for me, I would have to say, Ross.

There have been times when Ross and Rachel were being childish and acted immaturely while sorting things out. So let me take you back to those nostalgic fights and talk about how they could have quit dawdling and made things work.

The one where Ross made the “pros and cons” list.

Making comparisons? That too in love? Do you ever think this will work out? Exactly!! That did not work out well with Ross and Rachel either. He was delighted to know that Rachel had feelings for him. But, at the same time, he was with Julie. He did not want to miss his evergreen crush ‘Rachel’. Ugh! He couldn’t decide either. That is where he took the advice of his “not so good at giving advice” friends Chandler and Joey. Chandler advised him to make a pros and cons list. As predicted, it turned out to be a flop idea. Although he did mention in that list that Julie is not Rachel, which I think was sweet and expressed how much Rachel meant to him. Making a list to decide with whom you want to be with is definitely not the right approach.

The one where Rachel could have been the bigger person.

The list did hurt Rachel a lot as she couldn’t digest the things Ross wrote. We all were touched when Rachel said that if it were up to her she would have never made a list. But we cannot ignore the ways Ross apologized and decided to wait for her, while she had already moved. Here, I believe Rachel could have accepted Ross’s apology and given him a chance to make up for his actions.

The one where Rachel could have been a little understanding.

I revere that Rachel was brave enough to start her life all over again. Not many people would have the courage to leave their family, home, and their whole lifestyle behind. When she got the job at Bloomingdale, no one was more delighted than Ross. He was amazed to know that Rachel is finally doing something she likes. But Ross didn’t like the idea of Rachel becoming friends with Mark (the guy who helped her get the interview and then trained her for the interview as well).

Given his marriage life with Carol, it was hard for him to trust someone that easily again. Later, Rachel became so obsessed with her job that she let it consume her and she didn’t focus on anything else. I guess Rachel could have been a little understanding and could have given Ross more attention and made him feel secure instead of assuming that Ross is not supportive and is not happy for her.

The one where Ross could have used his head.

Getting involved with some other girl, right after you split up with your girlfriend, not so cool. I agree that Ross felt awful when Rachel said she wanted to take a break and later found out that Mark is with Rachel. But that doesn’t justify his actions in return. He could have thought this through and had a word with Rachel about how they both were feeling at that time. Communication is the key to a successful relationship. They both could have arrived at a considerable conclusion.

The one where Rachel could have accepted her flaws.

One of the things that I dislike about Rachel the most is the fact that she would always be the first one to move on and would ask Ross to do the same. But, when Ross finally did move on, she wasn’t able to tackle that and would try to wreck things for him. Well, she did the same when Ross started dating Bonnie, Phoebe’s friend. Later, she gave an explanation that she was still in love with Ross and Ross didn’t even think twice before he broke up with Bonnie this time. After that Rachel wrote a letter (18 pages, front and back!) in which she held Ross responsible for everything that went wrong in their relationship which I think was pretty selfish of her. She could have acted like a grown-up and agreed that she made her shares of mistakes too.

The one where Ross could have been a grown-up.

The way Ross reacted after reading the letter was justified as anyone would have been pissed off after realizing that their lover is holding them accountable for everything. But I feel like Ross could have let go of his anger and could have talked things through with Rachel. The lack of communication is what affects most relationships.

The one where Rachel could have been patient.

Remember Emily? The one we all started hating after what she did to Ross. Imagine what would have happened if they hadn’t been divorced. You cannot. Can you? Neither can I! I guess Rachel could have been patient until Ross turned normal but as usual, as soon as she was done telling Ross she loved him, she moved on saying that it was a bad idea. If she had been a little patient, things would have worked out for them.

The one where Rachel could have been more sensible.

After giving birth to Emma, Rachel gets a little worried that she cannot handle things all alone without Ross. This is where our dearest Phoebe steps in and has a little chat with Ross regarding how she feels about him and Rachel. Simultaneously on the other side, Rachel misunderstood that Joey proposed to her and said yes. Well, well, well! As much as I would have admired to see Joey settle down with a woman he loves, I would have loathed it if Ross and Rachel wouldn’t have ended up together at the end. I do understand that Rachel was scared to be a single mother but at the very least she could have asked Joey to wait until she had a talk with Ross about this.

The one where Ross could have taken the risk.

I get it that Ross is not good at expressing himself. But, this nature became a major issue for their numerous fights. He was always so concerned about the outcome that he never really gave it a try. From my point of view, I feel like things would have been much better if he would have just spilled how he felt. “Shoot the breeze Ross!” was my never-ending phrase for Ross.

The one where Rachel crossed the line.

I could not believe the fact that Rachel kissed Gavin, a guy she barely knew. I mean, here Ross is taking care of Emma and keeping his promise to Rachel that he wouldn’t date anyone, but Rachel on the other hand was going to bars, giving guys her phone number, and kissing guys on the balcony! I was vexed after watching that episode. In my opinion, Rachel never considered Ross and their situation before doing certain things which I think is a flaw of hers that wrecked their relationship.

What was the first thing you did after you were done watching the F.R.I.E.N.D.S TV Show?

Well as for me, I went and googled the real names of the cast members and then I checked who was involved with whom. We all love the on-screen chemistry between Ross & Rachel, Monica & Chandler but imagine how amusing it would be to find out that they ended up being together off-screen as well. With this statement of mine, don’t fall into the impression that all the on-screen couples fell for each other in real life, but as it turns out some duos did have some real-life fun going on. Yes, you guessed it right! It’s Jennifer Aniston, who if we are not wrong, has dated three of her co-stars. Though the number might have amazed you already, hold on until you know the names because that’s the most amusing part! Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston has been married and divorced twice. But she still believes that her Prince is out there waiting for her. Truly we too want to see her happy and delighted with the right man who treats her like Ross did (here we are obviously skipping the “We were on a break” part and also the psycho Ross part).

Brad Pitt

The American sweetheart couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston started dating in 1998. Within no time they became the ‘It Couple’ of Hollywood. They got hitched in 2000. And in 2001, Brad rocked the world of Friend Fans by making a guest appearance in the show. It was the 9th episode of season 8 that he made his appearance as Will Colbert and that thanksgiving dinner became an epic one! Will was in the “I hate Rachel Club” quite contrary to their real-life chemistry. Fans were amazed to see them together on the screen even though his character (Will Colbert) hated Rachel Green and we can’t deny that it was one hilarious episode, my friends. However, it seems as though Brad Pitt wasn’t the one for Jennifer Aniston as they parted their ways in 2005.

Tate Donovan

Tate and Jennifer are said to have been dating between 1994-1998. Tate was seen in six episodes on the Friends TV Show in 1998. He was cast as Rachel’s love interest but the appearance was tragicomic as they were not a couple anymore in real life. Imagine how fiddly would that have been. But being professionals they didn’t make it seem awkward at all and neither did any of their co-stars (Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry). When asked how it was to be playing a role against his ex, Tate said “I was just happy to be in the team. The only bummer was that Jennifer and I were breaking up at that time.”

Paul Rudd

Paul Rudd, thinking where you have heard this name? Aren’t you? Well, let me clear your doubt. He played the role of Ant-man in the popular series of Avengers. That’s right my friends, Jennifer dated an Avenger!

Jennifer and Paul reportedly dated in 1998 while shooting for their film ‘The Object of My Affection.’ Later in the year 2002, we saw Paul playing the role of Mike Hannigan, who was Phoebe’s love interest and eventually became her husband in Friends. If you too are wondering already how awkward things might have been between Jennifer and Paul while shooting then you probably need to gulp the news that it was not.

Although things didn’t work out between them, they managed to remain friends and worked together many times even after Friends. You might have seen them in the movie “The Newton Boys together” and also in the movie “Wanderlust” which came out in 2012.

Matt LeBlanc

Did you like the chemistry between Rachel and Joey? Well, the actors themselves did not like the idea of Rachel dating Joey in the series and even went on to talk with the directors about it. But they failed to convince the directors and finally had to do the scene anyway.

Later after the show had already ended, a claim by Matt’s father shook the world where he told Ok! USA that “[Matt] got on good with Jen. He told me about it – they would make out in the dressing room.”

However, both the actors have denied this allegation and completely shut the claims. Jennifer’s rep too released a public statement concerning the matter in which she said, “Jennifer has never had a romantic or s*xual relationship with Matt LeBlanc.”

Courteney Cox

Courteney’s love interest didn’t involve any of her main co-stars. However, she was married to one of her supporting cast members for the series. And the couple made quite the headlines as they looked cute just like Monica & Chandler did on-screen.

David Arquette

David was cast in the series as a plot twist (Phoebe’s stalker). As the story goes, David mistook Phoebe for Ursula and fell for her after stalking. And if you are wondering what Monica was doing in the same episode, then she was trying to get over Richard by making jams in her free time. Oh and don’t forget, Monica was also considering artificial insemination through a sperm bank.

It was wonderful that Courteney and David got married in 1999 and the event was celebrated by the Friends family with a change in opening credits. Yes, if you closely look at the credits of Episode 1, Season 6 then you notice ‘Arquette’ added to everyone’s name. That marked both tribute and reference to an inside joke ongoing in the sets of Friends after their marriage.

But unfortunately, things didn’t work out for them and the couple got divorced after staying married for 13 years. During the 10th season, Courteney was pregnant with her daughter Coco. However, the writers could not write the pregnancy into the show as they already confirmed that Monica couldn’t get pregnant.

Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry who is loved for his sarcasm surely is loved by many. Contrary to what we have seen in the show, Chandler should have surpassed Joey in numbers only if he was not shy around women. Back in time, talks surfaced about Jennifer and him but they were solely rumors. However, she was not the only co-star with whom Perry’s name was involved.

Julia Roberts

Julia played the role of Susie Moss in Friends in 1996 and she was Chandler’s classmate from fourth grade. Talking about Matthew’s love life, she was Matthew’s first public relationship. They started dating in 1995 when he was just establishing himself in the film industry. However, the couple only lasted for a year.

Matthew Perry’s dating list is massive unlike his character in the series and sadly Courteney Cox is not in this enduring list. We would have surely loved to see Monica and Chandler come together in real life as well. We can never get over this cute couple ever as this is the best we could ever witness in life!

As far as our other three main characters are concerned, none of them dated any of their co-stars from this TV show, Friends. Considering the chemistry among the six actors it’s really hard to believe that none of them ever did anything stupid even while they were young. Anyways, that’s what the truth is and we will have to live with it. The couples they have created on the screen were really enjoyable and we can surely live the rest of our life with them in our memories forever.

Can you imagine a Friends series where Rachel is missing? Rachel Green, who was an independent and self-made woman and who is still well known for his style and fashion sense may have dropped the character in the Final Season. Friends series created by Marta Kauffman and David Crane debuted in 1994 and ended in 2004 after telecasting ten successful seasons.

The story of Friends revolves around six main characters who are in the city staying away from their family and have found their new support system in their Friends. The series did very well for the nine seasons and was well received by the audience who watched it on the television. The actors who played the six main characters in the show received a major boost in their career graph and it marked a turning point for their fandom. Not one of them could go unnoticed by a crowd as they became a household name.

Jennifer Aniston not joining the crew for the shoot of the final season would have been too difficult for the show makers. The series was about to give closure to the characters in its final season, 10. And without showing the story of Rachel Green and Ross it would have never been the end. The questions like “will they get back together” or “will they marry again” or will their “We were on a break” fiasco ever end were yet to be answered. So Jennifer Aniston was an inevitable part to shoot the Season 10.

The reason for her not joining the rest crew was initially cited as the termination of her contract and issues in renewing. But in 2004, Aniston cleared all doubts around it when she mentioned that she had a “couple of issues” and was busy dealing with them. Probably she was pointing to the issues in her personal life. Back then she wanted the series to end well before the plan and we all know that would have never turned out to be a great thing for fans like us. Jennifer was also worried if she had more of Rachel left in her and whether there could be any good outcome by searching for more and more stories to extend the series. But despite all her fears and problems, she returned for the shoots, and we all know how the final season turned out to be.

We really thank god that Jennifer returned back to the show, else we can’t even imagine how the final season would be without her. Jennifer had doubts about the amount of Rachel left in her but she didn’t realize that we never saw any less of Rachel in her. In fact, even today, whenever fans see Jennifer, many of them call her Rachel because that’s how we Friends Fans love her. She is the most beautiful person and it’s hard to see anyone qualified enough to fill her shoes.

Friends Fans love Rachel Green always! Isn’t it?

You probably have grown up binge-watching friends or if you’re a millennial then you have started watching it on Netflix or rewatching it probably. Not sure if you have noticed it or not. But there are a lot of things that are problematic in the series. Maybe they are indicative of the times or the authors’ lack of consciousness, but a lot of elements from the Friends TV Series like the storylines, situations, and characters were problematic.

While Ross and Monica Geller along with Rachel Green, Chandler Bing, Joey Tribbiani, and Phoebe Buffay are people in their 20s during the 90s, but in 2020 you may find it difficult to agree with some of their views and actions. The lack of diversity is inexcusable and embarrassing during its ten seasons. Even those jokes that deliver racial puns or make fun of personal life choices are all demeaning. It is true that many of the jokes in the show, which started almost 26 years ago, would probably be thrown out before they even entered the writer’s room.

Friends were recently added to Netflix in the UK, and the problem elements, which lasted ten seasons, surprised thousands of years. Below are highlights of the troublesome themes, moments, and jokes that have taken place over the ten years of the show.

#1 Almost everything about “Fat Monica.”

“Fat Monica” fed a perpetuated image of overweight individuals as punchlines and nothing more into the entire media. She only became a “worthy” character after she lost her weight, or at least that’s how the show made her appear.

In a way, the show also implies that when she is bigger she is a solitary loser. Every time I watch it, I get so mad.

#2 Joey’s treatment to women.

Most of Joey’s scenes around women are problematic. It really bothers almost everyone when Joey treats the women badly after sleeping with them. Sure, he’s got his good and sweet moments, but it’s super problematic that he can’t even remember some of the women he’s been sleeping with. Also, the way he broke up was drastic. Instead of standing up and facing things on his own, he expects his roommates to make breakfast for the girls, and then dump them for him.

I love Joey, but his roommate’s search was awful too: “Female, non-smoker, non-ugly.” And his word association test was also incredibly gender-biased. Joey immediately rejected people if they weren’t as obsessed with s*x as he was.

#3 Ross assuming Rachel wanted to make love.

We all remember the night when Ross saw Rachel walk without clothes all around the house. He immediately assumed that she was in a mood to have some naughty moments with him. The two had no communication, but because Ross thought he was “The Man”, he saw it as an opportunity or a plea for one night fun.

#4 The relationship between Monica and Richard.

Monica was sleeping with her dad’s friend. I mean, I know he’s Tom Selleck, irresistible, but this guy knew Monica as a kid and may have held her in his arms while she was small, and now they were in the bed together! It’s was so creepy.

The fact that Ross was the only one who thought Monica and Richard was a strange thing was not well taken in. It was like, come on, he’s probably babysitting her like a newborn.

#5 And, finally, Ross was annoyed by Ben playing “girly” toys.

I love the show to death. But the episode in which Ben was playing with a doll and Ross was so upset, bugged me so much. Let the kid play and be a kid without your fragile masculinity ruining his pleasure. Didn’t Ross understand this simple concept!

#6 The treatment of Chandler’s dad throughout the show.

While adding a character from the much-neglected community of the time, was a big step forward on television. But the community was completely misrepresented it feels.

Chandler was horrific about his parent’s choices and made jokes too. At least by the end of the show, he could have been more sympathetic and acceptable.

#7 The continuous examples of fragile manhood.

To make a show they had often played the old and dangerous norms of what a man’s character should be. And if it doesn’t meet those set standards then they stated it wrong for manhood! So basically, they often made the fragile masculinity into a big issue. And it never helps because society doesn’t work that way. We need acceptance towards different people who might not be the same.

A classic example- Season 6 Episode 8, Monica has Chandler make cedar sachets with an old pantyhose while they are living together. After that, He found Joy learning to knit and Ross using face powder to try and minimize the contrast between his face and excessively white teeth. The scene ends with Chandler screaming, “Where are all the men!”

Well, it was intended for humor but it’s national television, what you show is what you teach the teens. Characterizing actions as male and female isn’t right because in the real world, things are different and we need to mare acceptable.

#8 Rachel’s sacrifice of her dreamwork for Ross.

Rachel had this magnificent arc for ten years as it grew from spoiled rich brat to a self-realized, independent woman with a great career. She then sacrificed the career for Ross at the last moment. In the canon of my head, Rachel never went off the aircraft and became LVMH’s CEO.

#9 Ross and Mark, where Rachel lost a lot.

Ross behaved like a psychotic when Mark came into their life. He was resentful, jealous, and totally possessive. More than once, he stumbled in her work, shouted in her office, and sent excessive donations(gifts, as acknowledged by Ross) to her. At that point, he could have also marked “ROSS” on Rachel just like she was some cattle.

He assumed Rachel was more concerned with a guy than with her current career and relationship, and all this was so disheartening and naive.

#10 And their’s harassment too.

Rachel once asked Ross to assist her. She’s on the verge of transforming into a different dress and asks Ross to turn around because she doesn’t want him to see her changing clothes. Ross doesn’t rotate and said he has seen her like that many times.

Rachel explains that it was different now. After which, Ross tells her that she too can see him that way– he could have just closed his eyes, but no. He then “imagines her without clothes” several times, and even watching the scene makes me feel extremely uncomfortable.

Imagine your ex-boyfriend telling you that! Wouldn’t it be so inappropriate? Another reason to hate Ross!

The way she reacted to the comments or replied them surely would have made their day. Imagine a day, when your favorite star responds to you in person! Won’t you be as happy as being on cloud 9?

In this video, Matt looks nothing like Joey! He looks even more handsome than Joey was in the show. He has truly aged like a fine wine and fans just love him. The fans have crowded to get a pic or autograph from their favorite Joey from Friends. Moreover, it looks like, the successful star never leaves his fans upset so if you get a chance to meet him it might be easy to get an autograph.

David will always be remembered as Ross Geller. No matter how hard he tries but the character he played in Friends has somehow become his identity. It’s a boon and a curse at the same time. He has suffered because the character of Ross comes in the way of other characters he plays in different movies. But anyway, he is the one who loves to experiment with his career and has enjoyed it a lot. He may not be successful in a few but atleast he is the hero who tried and did what he wanted to do.

The six friends are still earning huge royalties for the reruns and other earning from the show. Even Warner Bros. is making good money from the show, can you imagine that Netflix alone paid $80m in 2019 to keep the show streaming in their platform. So just imagine the popularity of the show and the huge sum of money it’s earning even after 25 years.

The shows shown in theatres were was named “Friends 25th: The One With The Anniversary” and they wanted this to and experience where the fans get to reunite with their longtime BFFs – Rachel, Joey, Ross, Chandler, Monica, and Phoebe. The screening of the show on Bigger screen included reliving the most funniest moments. Also, they included a couple of exclusive interviews and never-before-seen content.

Friends is not just a show, it’s life. People watch it again and again and never get bored. But did you realize it earlier that it’s not just comedy they deliver? Phoebe is the best example of being yourself. You might be different or you might be weird but one thing is inevitable, You are unique! So respect yourself and be proud of what you are.

Phoebe was not the best when it comes to music but she did it anyway and followed her heart always. She never cared for what others think or say. She wanted to live her own life and did it every moment. There’s a lot to learn from Phoebe indeed!

#2 Everyone Has Different Opinions, Respect That

Ross and Phoebe are two opposite characters and even more conflicting are their opinions and views. Remember the time when Phoebe engaged in a debate with Ross over Evolution. We loved the way Phoebe shattered Ross with her theories and comments.

In real life, no two individuals can have similar opinions ever and if they do then probably they should hang on to that person forever. But in reality, expecting similar opinions in two individuals is too much. Instead, we should accept the fact and try to live life with them in peace. You cannot change everyone’s opinion but you can make peace with them and stay happily.

#3 Stay Motivated, Good Will Come

Chandler left his job and waited enough to get the right job. Similarly, Monica got her big shot she deserved after quite a wait but it was worth it. She even had to fight her way but she kept going and tried to stay motivated always. And we all know about Joey, in life no one can be as defeated as Joey, but he showed us that patience can bring you great things.

So always stay motivated and good will come to you. What you deserve, you are ought to get, just wait for the right time.

#4 Past Can’t Define You

Rachel had a past where she lived like a spoilt little girl but her present was completely different. She earned everything and became the only girl her daddy was proud of. Also, if we look into the life of Phoebe then no one else can have a more messed up childhood than her. But Phoebe crafted her present in a way where everything was so different and wonderful.

Friends has taught us that the past always remains in the past. Our present can be different if we want it to be.

#5 In Love You Have To Compromise

Who can be better than Monica and Chandler when it comes to couples and relationships. They have shown us that people aren’t perfect but love is. In their relationship, Monica was the dominant one and Chandler had to obey her orders to keep her happy. And he never felt bad about it rather he enjoyed pampering her by making the boss.

In relationships, if you love someone and want your relationship to work then compromises are a must. Without doing sacrifice and compromise, it’s really difficult to maintain a relationship.

#6 Life Doesn’t Wait For Anyone

Life moves on always, people go and come but life never stops. When Monica and Richard broke up they were devasted at first. The pain they went through was genuine and it seemed like they would get back together soon. But they moved on and found an even better life for themselves.

Likewise, we should not stop in life. Whenever something wrong happens then maybe it’s time for you to witness something good soon enough. Life won’t wait so you too don’t have the time to wait and stay stuck in your past.

#7 Divorce Is Not The End Of Life

Divorces are never good but if it’s inevitable then people should understand that it’s not the end of their life. Just look at Ross, he had three divorces but still, there was no reason for him to be sad or restrict himself from falling in love.

It’s not just a joke that the showrunners wanted to create but they had a message hidden underneath to show that it’s ok even if your life isn’t going well and you have had to go through three divorces. Just go along and enjoy your life and you will find more opportunities to be happy.

#8 Be Kind To Everyone Or Life Hits You Back

Do you believe in Karma? Well, Friends did not actually describe or talk about it in detail but some of the scenes reflect the idea behind Karma. While Chandler was young he lifted Sussie Moss’ skirt in 4th Grade and we know what he had to go through after that!

#9 Learn To Express Your Feelings

Feelings are natural and are always beautiful. But only having feelings for someone is not enough, you have to speak it out to let the other one know. Ross always had a huge crush on Rachel but could never say it out loud. He had chances to express his feelings but he was shy to do so.

He wasted quite a few years and had to go through the torment while Rachel dated other boys. He may have avoided everything and could have been in a relationship much earlier. Even Rachel had the same problem, she always had to express her feelings for Ross on the perfect Wrong Time! Be it the wedding or when Ross already has a girl, Rachel always had to express her feelings in those odd hours. She could have said it earlier and things could have been much better.

#10 Clutch On To Your True Friends

True friends are difficult to find and if you have them then you should not ket them go forever. In this huge selfish world having a bunch of people whom you can trust always, with whom you can share everything and not be judged, is like a dream come true. So if you have such a group, stay with them forever.

Other people may come and go but they are the real gem in your life. Make a group of six and if you have the chance, create your own world of Friends. Stay together in nearby apartments, hang out together, share joy and sadness together, and more. Those times may not be permanent but would be the most beautiful times in your life.

Mr. Heckles from Friends is a memorable character who was a grumpy old man but we still love him. His lines are unforgettable and typical which has made him a legend. Though he said some far-fetched and absurd lies but was delivered amusingly in the series. We can’t imagine someone more annoying and loving at the same time! Today the actor is celebrating his 80th Birthday and we can’t stop remembering all his dialogues from Friends here!

We wish Larry Hankin a very Happy Birthday and thank him for a character like Mr. Heckles. Though his part was short in Friends still he managed to make a mark that will last forever within all Friends Fans.

How Mr. Heckles Changed Friends?

Mr. Heckles is a very important character in the Friends series. It was for him that the whole group oi six came into existence. Remember the flashback episode where Chandler was looking for a roommate? He had almost selected Eric who was a model photographer and had a hot sister who starred in adult movies. But, Mr. Heckles lied to Eric at the right time that forced him to turn back and leave the apartment. And finally, Chandler had no choice but to bring in Joey as a new roommate. So all thanks to Mr. Heckles!

Also, Heckles helped Chandler rectify himself. The episode where Mr. Heckles died and left all his worldly possessions for “the two noisy girls upstairs.” In the same episode, Chandler read Heckle’s diary and drew parallels between Heckle’s life and his. To his surprise, Chandler discovered that he had similarities with Heckle’s past thereby scaring him about his own future. However, Chandler’s friends manage to soothe his phobia and maybe that was the point where he realized for the first time it’s better to commit yourself to someone.

So in a way, Mr. Heckles had done a lot for the group and deserves the credit for it.

Furious Mr. Heckles After He Was Killed

Larry Hankin who played Mr. Heckles in Friends admitted once that he almost lost it with producers Marta Kauffman and David Crane when he came across the fact that his character was killed in Friends.

He said, “In my mind, and this is really true, when [my agent] said you’ve got the fifth episode, [to me] the sixth is pretty inevitable. I got a house, I started to pave the driveway – Friends took my house away! I had a house for five seconds, maybe 10. I say that as a joke but in my head that registered, I was so angry, I kept that in.’ And then the day came to film Mr. Heckles’ swansong, and Larry blew up.

Larry continued his story by saying, “I walked in with a chip on my shoulder. And I didn’t know this was the first day of the new season, at least with filming, so that’s party time for all sitcoms. They invite everyone who’s been on the show, who’s going to be on the show – the producers, everybody in the building to come down.”

“I found the three producers, I headed right for them, they were very pleasant just the three of them with drinks in their hands, and I go up to them: “What did you do? What did you do? You killed my character!”

Marta replied to Larry by saying, “Larry, can we talk about this another night?”

Larry then suddenly realized that the entire room shut up because he was shouting. Seems like Larry was quite into Mr. Heckles and at times could go crazy like his character. But the moment must have been quite embarrassing for all of them.

Anyways, we love Mr. heckles and his short but amusing part played in Friends sitcom. He has made a mark with his character.

Though Mr. Heckles lost it after losing his character in Friends but, as expected the actor’s talent brought him more work. He starred in Breaking Bad, Matlock, Seinfeld (as Tom Pepper), Escape from Alcatraz (1979) with Clint Eastwood, and more. He is a wonderful actor and his characters say it loud already.

Mike was looped in the storyline of Friends in the year 2012 and surprisingly things were not so awkward between Jennifer and Paul. There was a fantasy episode where Rachel was somewhat close to Chandler even more than just friends. So did you like the idea of the two being together?

As it turns out there were rumors about Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry dating after the show ended and two years passed by. We don’t know for sure if rumors were correct or just baseless. But some people still believe that the two had a fling in 2006.

FRIENDS is so successful that it has been years since the last episode was on TV but still, we are crazy about the show. There are tons of new content on the internet and TV, but many of us watch the same old episodes more than those new TV shows and that speaks about the success of Friends. It has become so huge that every video, every article, and anything involving Friends can go viral till now! It’s almost like, nothing can go wrong if you relate it to Friends. But, this notion was proved wrong when “Joey” hit the screens to tell the story of our cute character, Joey after Friends.

Friends fans were badly devasted when Friends ended in 2004. They had a bond of 10 years and the Friends cast almost became family to them by the end of those wonderful 10 years. But soon after, some news came in to bring back hope (or atleast what people thought back then). Out of the six main characters from Friends, Joey Tribbiani was going to come back on screen and this time it was a complete show dedicated to the character!

The new show named “Joey” was going to follow and show the life of Joey Tribbiani who was moving on to pursue a career in acting outside New York. The thought of moving out of New York didn’t much excite the fans even back then as there was a wave that assumed being set in New York is something about the show that made it so special. Anyways, it’s a well-known fact that Joey in Friends didn’t get a storyline at the end to make a closure. This fact was used by the show makers to create the storyline of “Joey” which was expected to perform well but didn’t give results as expected. It was almost like the spinoff ruined the essence of Friends completely.

Why “Joey” Failed?

If we start counting then we can come up with a list of reasons that dragged down the show from being a success. The first and the most crucial point to which every Friends fan would agree is that it was nothing like Friends! In Friends, we were used to the chemistry of six friends hanging out in a cafe but in Joey, they tried to bring out a single character which just didn’t give the right feel.

The storyline was completely new as Joey moved to Hollywood where he stays with his sister’s son, Michael, who was a 20-year-old rocket scientist. So that came in as havoc to Friends fans as they already started missing Chandler-Joey moments from the previous show.

It’s not like a show focusing a single character doesn’t work out every time. We have examples like Breaking Bad and The Big Bang Theory where the spinoffs performed pretty well. Better Call Saul and Young Sheldon were created focusing on one single character from the parent shows but they turned out to be successful. Friends ended on a sad and incomplete note but still showing the journey of one man without addressing any other characters from the previous show may have brought the sitcom down.

If we talk about the views of the executive producer and director of both ‘Friends’ and ‘Joey’ then it was suggested by him that the show didn’t work because it didn’t have the same tone as Friends. Kevin S Bright also said that Joey was very carefree in Friends but in “Joey” it was changed a lot. Joey acted as a grown-up so making him a complete stranger to Friends Fans.

How “Joey” Could Have Been A Hit?

We don’t say that “Joey” was a complete flop. In fact, the show had an average of 7 million people who watched the show while it was on TV. But if we compare it with Friends then it’s nothing as the last episode of Friends alone was viewed by 52 million people. But unfortunately, after two seasons the show was eventually canceled. NBC didn’t even telecast 8 of the episodes from the 2nd season because of poor ratings on May 15, 2006.

Assessing the demerits in the show, we can say Joey could have been better and could have even been a success if the show had tried a few things. Joey’s character was quite immature in Friends and it would have been better if the change in his character was focused and shown in this spinoff. It would have gradually shown the evolution while taking the viewers from Friends onboard in the process. The rash change was not well taken by the audience as they were always used to seeing a child in Joey.

Joey could have been a hit by looping in the other 5 Friends cast on occasions. Not necessary that they appear altogether, but individual appearances of the other 5 cast would have given a boost to Friends Fans. Even if they couldn’t manage to bring them on the show, but their mere mention in the current show or relating a few scenes from Friends would have done wonders. But sadly, Friends Fans had to face disappointment in the spinoff from which they expected a lot but didn’t receive it.

Matt Le Blanc once admitted himself that he received $30 million for Joey, and he also mentioned that it was the most ‘successful failure ever’. Sadly, we agree with his views as everyone expected something better than what we saw. The situation is so worse that many Friends Fans aren’t even aware that there exists a spinoff by the name “Joey”.

Anyways, we are now looking forward to the reunion and hopefully, it’s delivered the right way as we want it to be. We have been waiting for a long time now and the pandemic has delayed it again. But, once everything gets back to normal, this will the best thing we can ever put our minds on.

The Friends series is wonderful and its success says it all. Though being very popular and successful, we can’t say it’s perfect in all respects. The storyline was great but still, there are a few plots that could have been done better. So here we have pointed out some scenes which could have been better than what we know. 10 Most Hated Storylines In Friends That Could Be Presented In A Better Way

#1 Monica Dating Richard & His Son

Monica and Richard’s relationship received different opinions in the first place. Some liked the couple but there was also a sect that found them incompatible. Well, Richard was a nice guy and had the right kind of manliness to attract girls but his age difference with Monica was too wide!

Dating Richard was still fine but again trying to heat things with his son was not at all acceptable. What was Monica thinking before kissing him! Maybe she wanted to have the taste of Richard for one last time.

#2 Joey Dating Rachel

Joey and Rachel were good friends but the showrunners turned them into a couple and after spending some time together they realized being a couple was not something they wanted. The storyline was strange and even more strange was the way it was presented.

There was no sign of Joey being in love beforehand, they were always good friends. And out of nowhere, Joey developed feelings for Rachel, and even to make things worse, Rachel accepts it! There was nothing in common or suitable to be a couple between the two but still, they thought it would be great to give it a try. Even the cast opposed this storyline but had to do it anyway because the creators wanted it.

#3 Ross Getting Mad At Joey & Rachel

Ross and Rachel had broken up for so long before Joey and Rachel got together. But still, Ross reacted so badly that no one could seem to ignore or forget those moments when he was “Fine!”

At some point, it feels like the show creators deteriorated Ross’s character with such instances. No normal person would react so badly when they find out about their ex’s new relationship. On top of that, it was not like they broke up recently, they separated long back and Ross even had a thing going on with Charlie those days. So the plot was a little inappropriate and unacceptable.

#4 Joey Ending Up Alone

Joey was lovable and a favorite character of many fans. He had a few bad habits like not calling back girls after sleeping with them but with passing years, he too started realizing the value of true love and real relationships. But unfortunately, the show creators thought it was better to leave Joey alone by the end of the show.

Friends fans have seen Joey grow mature with time and most of them wished to see him well settled and have a girl with whom he has a real relationship that lasts forever. But instead, we saw him walk into loneliness where all his friends were going away.

#5 Fat Monica Losing Weight Because Of Chandler

Fat Monica was carefree and happy but there came a moment in her life that changed her forever. Chandler’s words hit her so hard that she decided to lose weight and look sexier. The show in some way has shown that slim girls are sexy and fat girls are not so desirable.

The example set by the show was not appropriate. The way Chandler made fun of fat Monica was so insensitive. And the fact that Monica had to finally give up and fall into society’s demands was discouraging. Friends creators could have handled this storyline more maturely.

#6 Ross & Rachel Getting Back Together

The beginning of Ross and Rachel’s story was cute but with passing time it moved towards being more and more toxic. They fought badly, broke up several times, met different people, got over each other, and again by the end they are seen ending up together.

Some might say it’s love that has kept them together even after so many adversities in their relationship. But there’s a fact to realize that a relationship that has seen sweet days less than the tough days is not likely to last for long. Maybe they were not compatible with each other and might have better lives with someone else. But even after having seen so much negativity in the relationship the decision to stay was not so justified.

#7 Chandler’s Relationship With His Father

Chandler was not on talking terms with his father until Monica made efforts to call Charles Bing at their wedding. Chandler could never get over the fact that his father chose a different life and followed his heart to be happy and content in life.

The comments made on his choices and the disrespect shown towards Charles Bing in the show were weird. Friends had been quite progressive considering topics like motherhood for instance. But when it comes to preferences of relationships, they seem to have lacked a bit. They could have shown how everyone tried to understand and accept Charles but that never happened to the extent as expected.

#8 Ben Disappeared After A While

Ross was shown as a great father who always wanted to give time to his son, Ben. He brought him home and tried to spend as much time as he could to keep the bond strong. But after Emma was born, Ben hardly appeared in the show. It’s never wrong to expect a scene wherein both the siblings are playing together and their parents are cherishing those precious moments.

The show makers seemed to have ignored Ben after Emma came into the show. A better storyline could have been made with Ben in it but instead, they completely removed him from the story. As presented in the show, there are two theories to answer the absence of Ben, one is that Ross lost custody of Ben, and second says that Ross seemed not to care much about him after Emma. So in total, it won’t be wrong to say that the storyline could have been better.

#9 Phoebe’s Family

Phoebe’s family was always presented strangely. At first, she didn’t have anyone in contact with and didn’t even know about her real parents. But later on, she figures out the mystery and gets to know about her real parents. Interestingly, both her parents were alive! In the show, we expected to see some happy(or weird) family moments wherein all her family members would come together.

Phoebe’s wedding with Mike was the perfect time to see all her family members come together but that didn’t happen. In fact, none of her family members were present at the wedding! It’s strange to know that all her family members were alive and in contact but still, no one could make it to the wedding. The showrunners could have created some really memorable moments but they seemed to have missed it.

#10 When Rachel Said Yes To Joey

Joey and Rachel’s story was already so weird but the show creators didn’t stop there. The scene where Rachel accepts Joey’s proposal, which was not even a proposal, was totally crazy! Rachel didn’t love Joey at all, not like a lover at least, but she agreed to the proposal which shows how unstable and desperate she was.

The scene induces questions on Rachel’s character as she said yes to a relationship where she never saw a future. So it won’t be wrong to say that this is probably the worst storyline to have ever existed in the Friends series.

As a final note, Friends has given us laughs, memories, and a lot many things to cherish for life. We love watching it again and again and every time we laugh at those same dialogues which we are probably listening to for the 100th time. Here we are not criticizing the show because we too love it a lot. We are probably so obsessed with the show that we couldn’t help but point out some points that could have been done better. No hard feeling mate!

Did you too assume that Chandler might turn out to be g@y after a few episodes? Well, in the show many of his friends and colleagues assumed him to be g@y at the first meet. But, he eventually proved everyone wrong.

We don’t say there’s anything wrong with being g@y as everyone is free to choose their own life. Going with the same notion, Friends’ creators too respected Matthew’s views on this subject. The character he played named Chandler surely had some elements to give away a g@yish charm and the showrunners had few more things to add to it. They planned a storyline wherein Chandler would visit a g@y bar because he liked the tuna melts they served!

Just imagine how weird it would be to see Chandler walking into a g@y bar and asking for tuna melts in there. And while he is waiting for his dish to appear, someone would try to hit on him and strike a spicy conversation or even something more, who knows! Desperately trying to avoid the man, he will be calling for the waiter to come up with his order soon. And once the order comes in we can expect to see Chandler running hard like he was running for his life!

But Matthew Perry opposed to the storyline and so the creators of the show had to discard the idea. Adding such a storyline might have brought laughter but maybe at the cost of undermining the community. Friends have been a subject of debate on many occasions. Some feel offended with the dialogues and comments Chandler had to face for his character having some not-so-manly qualities. Even Chandler’s father in the show didn’t like the treatment she received on the show.

The reason why Matthew Perry denied the storyline isn’t clear but looks like it was for the good of everyone. It’s praiseworthy that the show creators considered the views of Matthew and accepted his voice. They could have forced him to do the scene as it would have brought a lot of laughs but they didn’t. It again proved that they wanted to create history and had the vision to last longer in history than anyone could ever imagine. In case if you are wondering, how we know this stuff then you would be surprised to know that there’s a book available that discloses such internal secrets and stories from the show.

The book named Generation Friends: An Inside Look At The Show is written by Saul Austerlitz. In this book, Saul has listed some untold and exclusive stories that were never known to Fans. To gather this information he conducted exclusive interviews with the creators of the show David Crane and Marta Kauffman, director James Burrows, executive producer Kevin Bright, and even the writers and cast members from the show. He has retold how the scenes came about during 10 years of the NBC phenomenon, Friends.

In the book, Saul describes, ‘Perry said no, and the story was shelved.’ This gives us light into the work culture of the show and also says how cool the creators were to have considered the consent of the actors for every scene.

There are many reasons why Friends is so successful and one of them is the freedom to express and permission to be the original self in the show. Many times it feels like the cast didn’t have to act, rather they were being themselves and that made things wonderful. Everyone had a voice, the actors could improvise lines, suggest ideas, and help each other to be better. Everyone was supportive and wanted to enjoy the shoots rather than considering it work.

It’s probably the work culture given by the showrunners that helped make the show a success. When everyone feels good, they can perform well!

Super Sportive Monica is back! Remember the episode when she was in Barbados and played a Table Tennis match with Mike. They both were so harsh and perfect opponents one can ever witness. But, this time it was the game of Pools and she proved it to us, that she hasn’t lost the Monica-Level of Energy at all. Unfortunately, it was Rachel who was standing against her, and quite evidently her skills were not at par with Monica’s. So we can assume what might have happened to poor Rachel Green!

Recently Rachel posted a video on her Instagram wherein we see her along with Courteney playing a friendly game of pool. The video was cute and hilarious at the same time. Courteney, just like Monica, seemed perfect with her shots. She was nothing less than a pro in the game. However, Jennifer didn’t seem so perfect and missed a lot many shots she could have scored. Just like the classy and competitive Monica we know, she couldn’t stop trolling Jennifer in the video.

Aniston captioned the video saying, “Friends shouldn’t let Friends play pool (especially when they suck😣).” And the same video was seen on Courteney’s wall with a caption that said, “I may have had a good night…but could my friend BE any cuter?”

Well, we don’t know whether Jennifer should continue playing pool even after such great trolls. But one thing we know for sure, she really looked damn cute and hot while playing the game. The moment when she swings her hair, many have skipped a beat already. But as far as her game is concerned, she was really pathetic in it.

Did you see Courteney aka Monica mocking Jennifer after the bad shot? Well, it was funny indeed! The same video was posted by Courteney from her account as well but with a different caption. But she couldn’t stop there, she also posted a video flaunting her pool skills.
